Description
CARRIT is the Court and Realtime Reporting Internet Training program that is being offered through Alfred State College to teach the art and skill of court reporting via the World Wide Web. The program is a new and innovative way of answering the need for qualified court and realtime reporters by offering a degree program to students who cannot attend a college campus environment. The program is designed for working people who want to study in their own home after work, for a parent who cannot leave the home and family to attend a college campus, and for students attending other colleges that do not offer court reporting as a major course of study. The CARRIT program is an alternative method of deliver for the Court and Realtime curriculum offered at Alfred State College. Internet students must complete the same requirements as those attending the college in order to earn an Associate in Applied Science degree. This is accomplished by completing course requirements in one of three ways: traditionally, by transfer, and by Internet.Traditional courses are those courses taken by students who attend our campus and complete the requirements for each course. Two types of transfer credit for courses taken at other colleges are pre-transfer and post-transfer. Pre-transfer credit is given for courses that have already been completed and meet the standards for required course work in the Court and Realtime curriculum. Post-transfer credit is given for courses that are taken after enrolling in the program at Alfred State College. These courses must be approved by Alfred State prior to taking in order to ensure they will be accepted as courses that meet our requirements. The Internet courses are those courses that are offered at Alfred State College via the Internet.

Court reporting has become very technologically advanced. Keeping up with court reporting software and firm management technology is key. Attorney and law firm practices and other litigation support training would be great. Excellent use of technology was great in the semester. More technology!
