AIU is what you make of it...Really
April 12, 2008
I am in the last throws of my Masters degree program in IT with AIU. I have read a lot of reviews online regarding this institution (negative, bitter, good etc) and I have come to conclude that AIU is generally a good school, perhaps not the best and lots of ...
Great School
March 16, 2008
AIU is a great school and was instantaneously recognized as a good school by advisors from Penn State Ogontz, when I used to work with them. In my capacity as the Assistant Director of Education for Willow Grove Naval Air Station, in 2002-2003, we established a working relationship with Penn ...
Notes From an AIU Grad
February 13, 2008
I recently graduated from AIU with a BFA in Visual Communication with a specialization in Web Design. I worked very hard and graduated with a 3.9 GPA. I am a veteran professional in the Multimedia area, so most of the courses were fairly easy for me, but there were some ...

Don't you love when schools have thier marketing staff write reviews on sites like these. If you work for AIU and your reading this, please thinking about what you are doing and who you are working for. You are using your time, training, and skills to sucker people into spending thousands of dollars for a low grade school. Your smart, there are other jobs you can get.

American InterContinental University is a "for profit" university.

I went to A.I.U. and got a Bachelor's Degree that is not worth anything in the fashion industry. Waist of time and money in my opinion. Even had a professor take my work and get another job with it.

AIU is accredited and after much research, it appears to be legit. I am interested in enrolling because of the fast pace online learning environment. I researched the Department of Education and AIU is in good standing and not on probation according to the latest status dated 11/14/2007. I guess some additional research is in order before I apply to AIU but so far everthing is on the up and up. Additionally, AIU is approved for Veteran's benfits such as the GI Bill, Tution Asssitance, and grants which are a rather tough standards by themselves.

Please don't put yourself through the agony of this school. This school costs was to much, and doesn't hold any weight with employers. I have a $30k piece of paper. :\

AIU is nothing that my admissions rep promised me. I understand it was her job to get me to sign on but what she promised me was that the school would support me in their program
I had to take college algebra for the program. When I took the class, the live chat did not work with the instructor, I couldn't understand the material. My student advisor just told me to read my book. Oh my goodness, as if I didn't try that. I'm not a complete idiot. Anyway, I failed the course. When I retook it, the live chat did work and I understood the material. I got an A. Now AIU wants to charge me an extra 2108.00 for the course that I had to repeat. I didn't get an extra set of books. I will not pay for a course that I had to retake because of their technology.
I am in a heated dispute with them because I am asking for them to not charge me the extra money. During the first algebra course I emailed my adivisor and anyone else I could including my admissions rep who no longer worked there. Everyone gave me the same answer, "read your book."
DO NOT sign with AIU, you will regret it. I have asked for an appeal and I cannot get my complaint past their dean of students. The student ombudsman is an employee of AIU who will side with the school. My next step is the accrediting board and the BBB. No wonder they were on probation.

I must say the price of the program could be somewhat less expensive, nevertheless, it did not lessen the experience that I had while attending AIU. For me, my circumstances were probably similar to many adults who have to take care of a family while holding a full-time job. Each individual's experience will be different regardless of the school they attend but I will say that I have been accepted into several recognized universities since completing my studies nearly three years ago. Maybe things have changed considerably since I graduated but as for my experience it was both challenging as well as rewarding. I have degrees from regionally accredited universities and I can truly say that my studies at AIU were sometimes more intense. I am not a faculty member and no one has coerced me to make this post, I just think it is very important for each individual to do their research and make decisions about which schools to attend based on what is best for their particular situation.

You guys stated AIU has no weight but is that based on Rep? I ran them and they are accreditted by CHEA like all Universities in the southern district. I was comparing AIU and South University for online they offer the same short 5 weeks courses except AIU give you 9 credits that allows you to complete the program a lot sooner.
What? January 23, 2008 at 6:43 a.m.
9 credits per 5 week course!!! How is that possible?

I'm currently attending University of Phoenix online, however, I'm now considering transferring over to AIU online. I want to make the right decision as to what college I should attend. I need to know if AIU is a good reputable college?

Happy AIU Student April 9, 2008 at 11:03 p.m.
I would be hard pressed to accept a review from people who can't even spell or use correct grammar (John Dole and Out of luck student). I am currently attending AIU and the course work is comparable to many other schools. FYI Kallen, currently in my Marketing class, we have quite a few students left UOP online and enrolled at AIU and they are very pleased with the program!

Thanks for the advice Happy! I just withdrew from UOP because in my opinion, it is a terrible school. I was very hesitant to try this school because of their two year probation. I did speak with their ombudsman about that which was very helpful, and I have also read several reviews from students as well. Overall I think the education you receive has everything to do with your own attitude. I am very excited to be attending AIU.

Great program and a great interactive learning platform. The work is demanding and you will acquire great research skills during the degree program. It is in an accelerated format so the pace is intense. Overall, great programs.
