earning a degree at this school and actually getting a job
September 30, 2011
I have been with ashford for about five months now i have to say so far i have not ran into any of these issues and I'm currently a soldier so the military pays for my courses. My question to everyone on here is have anyone graduted with a BA in healthcare administration and if so was it hard actually finding a job with your degree from ashford because i'm getting out the military next ...

DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
June 3, 2011
Let me say, I've gotten a AA and a BA online and it was great for my schedule, but this school is the pits and I'm in the Master's Program. You don't feel as if you've learned anything at the end of a class, and starting from the Academic Advisor to the Financial Aid Department their all in lack on knowledge. Trust me keep looking and find another online unversity to attend, but this is ...

What are you talking ABOUT
May 27, 2011
Reading the prior post,I was getting a little upset and then it turned to what is really going on, I will say this and get this part out the way, their financial aid dept / and or financial advisor don't know anything and because they don't know anything they have a ill fated attitude. I had to ask the guy did he have a problem with? Then is whole attitude changed. They need better trained ...

Really bad and expensive experience
March 30, 2011
I attempted to do a course online through Ashford University. It was VERY confusing regarding how I actually got credits, the reading of other's work was apparently how I was supposed to learn and obtain points and grades. I attempted one class and failed as I really didn't get the hang of what was expected of me. I attempted several times to email the lecturer, but the responses were generic and not at all helpful. ...

Excellent value

I had excellent support from advisors, financial aid advisors and most instructors. This program is not for the people who are not self motivated. You have two assignments each week. A discussion on Thursday and paper on Monday. If you pace yourself for these you should be fine. The cost was reasonable as well. I do not know if the people who had problems were of the age group that needs constant encouragement and handholding ...

Cheated Veteran
January 28, 2011
If you are a veteran beware of AShford University. They lure you in claiming to be veteran friendly and they are anything but that. I enrolled in the college and found them double billing and charging for things that every other college charges for within the tuition. They talk to if you lack any intelligence and lie openly about what services and discounts they provide for disabled veterans. My VA rep and me spoke with ...

Not complaining Super Easy - Finance Horrible
January 24, 2011
Overall, I enjoyed my experience and it feels good to be 2 weeks away from being done. I'm taking my last class with Ashford and I have to say it was super easy! I didn't learn anything yet I have straight A's. After I figured out the system I realized that I don't even need the book to pass the class. For the last couple of classes I haven't even used the books required. All ...

I am currently enrolled at Ashford in Health Care Administration and agree with Uniqzoe that you get what you put in. Although it does seem like there are many students that do not fit the criteria, now in my sophomore year I am finding much more contribution and equality among others in my classes. It sometimes takes a leader for others to follow and while at times it seems a contribute quite a bit, that is what we are here for. We each take a part and hope that each discussion is as meaning full as the last. Furthermore, all of this is coming from a past classroom educated student and I find that in certain classes the knowledge learned far exceeds that of a conventional classroom.

Hello CrossRoads,

I graduated from Ashford in March '09 (Healthcare Admin) and as with any school you have your pros and cons. In my case there were more pros than cons. My first two years of school were completed at traditional state schools and I loved that environment, however at this point in my life that doesn't work for me.

The things I loved about Ashford were the textbooks are the same used in many traditional schools, MOST instructors are professionals in their field and give great insight to the subjects taught.

The cons were the first few classes will be filled with students that may not be ready for college level classes or discussions which can be frustrating. However as your classes continue the faint at heart are weeded out and the discussions are more beneficial, particuallary from the students that have been in the field for several years.

In closing, as with anything you will get out of it what you put in it. Good luck to you.

I am a LVN who will be relocating to out of the country, I have never taken an online class, but I do very well in the traditional classroom setting. I attend class, take my notes, do the review and test, I am looking for a school online as close to that format as possible. I am looking at Ashford University or Colorado Technical University to obtain my bachelors in healthcare administration. Has anyone attended and graduated fro either of these schools that can help me make an informed decision. Ashford has hard copy books and is less expensive than Colorado Tech but they have live lectures you can interact with online. I wish they had nursing schoold that did that. HELP!!!
