I am starting my fourth semester of my associate degree program in accounting and I am so pleased with Ashworth that I am definitely going to stay and complete a batchelor degree program. Ashworth University has provided me with a wealth of knowledge for such a low cost. I've found ...

Ashworth college is an AT HOME STUDY COURSE! there are no teachers to hold your hand and complete the exam with you, if you are not outgoing enough to self teach yourself DO NOT USE THE INSTITUTION! The materials and exams are pretty self explanitory, you read it and understand ...

I got an Associates degree from the college. The texts were good however I was not impressed with the level of commiunicationa and help provided by Student Services it feels like you're calling a credit card company.

I received my Associate's degree from Ashworth College in Nov. 2006. I looked at other colleges and found some regionally accredited and nationally accredited colleges that would accept my credits for transfer. I chose to go to CCHS/Independence University to complete a Bachelor's degree in Healthcare with an emphasis in management. They accepted all my credits for transfer.Independence U is a nationally accredited college with a very good reputation. I have known people personally who have completed their Associate's, Bachelor's and Master's degrees for management and respiratory therapy through them and were very happy with the program. Ashworth did have some problems ,but all in all, I felt they got me to the next point to achieve my next goal at a very reasonable price.

The school started off wonderful. Close to the second semester things went down hill ever since. Student services doesn't react to any request until they feel like it, it seems. Too many problems to go through for just an associates when there are so many other online colleges out there.

Bad apple in communications at Ashworth (STUDENT SERVICES). Delivery time was awful. I found myself waiting a long time for courses even after I had finished the courses before promptly. Something like the person above said, it seems like you are calling a credit card company in the "collections department". Finally got my degree on Ashworth's time and not my own like they advertise.

Good experience. Student services can be hectic at times, but there are some great customer reps. there. Some are rude, some are nice, just like anywhere else. Overall the school has a respectable academic profile and I have enjoyed my learning experience so far. I will be graduating very soon.

I will getting my AA in Psychology soon. I feel that because I didn't do my homework before I checked out various distance schools for accreditations, I wasted much of my time. Only one school, perhaps two so far will accept my credits. I'm not so sure about the credibility of these schools in relation to future employment prospects either. I am a mother who works full-time and is raising a family so it's a lot more convenient to get my degree online. I tried going to school part time at nights and it was quite difficult to manage to say the least. I would recommend to anyone out there looking to get a degree online to please make sure you do your homework before enrolling in any university or college. Otherwise, it will be a waste of your time and money.
Best of luck to you all--

I am also looking into Ashworth for my AA in psych. I am leaning towards Ashworth because of the cost. I have been reading good and bad about this school and am most concerned with being able to transfer my credits to further my education and get my bachelor's. I am also a widowed mother of 4 and cannot waste my time and mostly my money on something that will not work for me. Does anyone have any other ideas as far as online universities that are along the lines in cost with Ashworth that may be regionally accredited? It seems that regional accreditation is the way to go. Thanks

I am attending Ashworth at this point but have started to think what will be next. Most places I have looked into will take my credits from Ashworth, but I'm hoping they get their 4 year program up and going soon. I would like to stay with one school, and for those that bash the college because of poor service, get over it! The cost is one of the best out there and in the past six months they have had great improvements.
cheryl August 3, 2007 at 11:28 p.m.
The only problem I seem to be having with the school is the credits don't transfer easily. Unless you are continuing on to a nationally accredited distance learning program the credits probably won't transfer.

Hi, I am currently a student at Cornerstone University persuing a B.S. in business management, I should complete my degree by fall of 08. I thought it would be a good idea to get an Associate in Finance from Ashworth, I to thought it was too good to be true; the rep was really good at explaining the program but I will have to find out. FYI Cornerstone University does not accept Ashworth credit; unless you can get a letter from 3- schools that will accept them. question? How easily does Ashworth accept credits from other Universities?
minfl August 27, 2007 at 3:49 a.m.
I attended Ashworth for a couple of classes. I wanted to transfer crdedits to other colleges but none of the colleges would accept transfer credits from Asworth. Ashworth is not the way to go unless you transfer to a 4 year school along the sam lines as Ashworth.
Hector August 27, 2007 at 4:01 p.m.
The courses are very good but yeah student services does need work. Apparently so does their shipping department. If you don't keep on these guys youmay never get your books, grades, etc. ...All these comments I read about transferring credits from there, I am so not looking forward to that process.

I am interested in attending ashworth college to earn my associate degree in criminal justice, but before i do i would like to know if there is a number i can call to find out if ashworth college is accredited. Can someone please give me some information?
Steve September 22, 2007 at 4:20 a.m.
Some of the comments above just made me crack up! Ashworth is a great school but many of you won't realize it until you go to another school (online or brick/mortar) and get wiped out with an enormous tuition bill. Your debt level will blow you away for your graduation present. One of the least expensive was Colorado Technical University who wanted $20k for an AA in 15 months and $35k in 30 months for a BA; and I shopped bigtime.
Peru College out of Nebraska wanted $135 a credit but it was gonna take the full 2 years for an AA and 4 yrs for the BA. Way too long for some people who already have families.
Depending on the school MOST credits will transfer but the new school is gonna add on more (unneccessary) classes so they can make more money. Bottom line is get your degree. Next, prepare yourself to be the best in the job interview; be ready to handle open ended behavioral questions correctly. You can have a stinking degree from Harvard (owing about $160k in student loans)and suck in the interview and a guy like me waiting his turn (owing $9600).
The course material I have received from Ashworth has been very thorough and factual. I believe in the degree I'm obtaining.
For you guys that are having trouble with the regional accrediting vs national accrediting I highly suggest you click back one page and scroll down to California Coast University and read their comment section. Quite the informative discussion on that subject.

Considering this "college"?? BEWARE!! I shopped around many other distance education programs before settling on Ashworth. When you call and speak to their student service advisors for enrollment, they promise you the world. However, once enrolled, you are a number, a long wait and mostly "misinformed". Before enrolling in the Paralegal AD program I needed verification of credit hours for insurance purposes. They promised this could be done upon my initial inquiry. Once enrolled, they indicated this is not permitted, "I was misinformed" as they called it. Also, I was told during my initial inquiry that "a Bachelor's in Paralegal would be introduced in September". That was not the case after I enrolled. Misinformed again!
9 OF 10 STUDENT ADVISORS ARE ABSOLUTELY THE MOST DISRESPECTFUL, UNPROFESSIONAL AND MISLEADING INDIVIDUALS YOU WILL ENCOUNTER!
Enroll at Ashworth and prepare to be treated
with comtempt and apathy. This institution scores a huge F

I am in my 4th semester at Ashworth. The tuition price, books, material content and student portal are very good. I feel that I have learned a great deal through this college.
However, do be aware that student services is terrible. I sent a question through e-mail. They didn't read the question. I suspect that the answer was from some sort of automated response system, as the response I received had nothing to do with my question. Sometimes they don't even respond.
It took over 1 month to receive my exams. I spoke with 5 different people before I finally got someone who knew what they were doing. I'm not sure if there actually is a professor to help with course questions. Ashworth needs to dedicate quite a bit of work to their student services. The tuition collection section is top notch. They don't miss collecting a penny.

Does anyone know how there Medical Assisting program is? Is it an AS or just a certificate?

It took me 3 yrs to get my degree in business only because
It took them many months to send out the exams. yes the cust service is too bad for even words and they lie like
well just lets say they lie just to gst rid of you over the phone. i seriously thought that they would never graduate
me, but i plugged a long I guess just to see what they could possibly do not to. Anyway i got the degree much to my
supprise. look it isnt a scam and it isnt college that has
any real notoriety, but it is something in between. You will get something out of the program. You have to actually read 16 or 18 books ear to ear; if you dont you will not pass the the tests or the final exams which by the way are quiet challenging. If you can tell me that, that it is a waste of time, then you are wrong. As the old saying goes, it is, what it is. It's a good compromise, and believe me when you get the piece of paper, because no matter where you go it's more about you and not the school, but when you get it, you feel you've earned it. i hope this helps anyone who is interested.

I am considering Ashworth. The program and cost are attractive. What does their diploma look like. Does it look cheap or does it look nice like a valid university diploma

Are there many essay tests and questions like other online classes. I'd rather just go to the classroom if all I'm going to be doing is writing while trying to get a bachelor's in business. Maybe someone who has already enrolled or graduated could post. It's really the only question I lack an answer for before I decide to enroll or not. Thanks

has anyone completed the criminal justice program is it worth the money.
Andre January 10, 2008 at 11:47 p.m.
I got my degree in Criminal Justice and after completing their course, I took my transcripts over to a small private law school here in California with the hopes of enrolling, knowing however, that many people had trouble transferring their credits over. I spoke to the Dean of admissions who was at first impressed with my transcripts (it is very easy to do well in Ashworth College, without even really doing the courses if you want to cheat yourself) then when he saw the name of the school he looked at my cocked eyed and told me he would have to call the State Bar and see if I would be allowed to be admitted with a degree from Ashworth University. After not hearing from him for a couple days, I called back and the Dean informed me that the State Bar would allow me to come aboard. I am now in my 3rd year of law school and am among the top of my class.
All and all, for me, it really worked out. I was able to obtain my degree in one years time and for a very good price.
The pitfalls, I hated dealing with the school itself. You know when you call, your calling a business looking to profit. It takes forever to get someone on the phone, and if you have a problem with that, forget it. I had a problem getting my transcripts to attempt to get into law school, and i was getting jerked around, and I was given the name and extension of the person in charge with transcripts, and after 4 weeks of trying daily, I never got that person or someone that could help me on the phone. The transcripts just appeared one day.
Ashworth College needs to do two things:
1) Fix their staff.
- They need to get a friendly and more effective help line
- They need a tutorial staff so that when you ask a question about something you don't understand, they don't email you back with a page number and nothing more.
2) I think the educational quality is pretty decent. They need to build their creditability among other schools. This is probably less important now that they offer a BA and Masters degree, but I would like to see people hired for the sole purpose of fighting for the legitimacy of us who attended this college.
Bill G January 15, 2008 at 9:39 a.m.
I'm a current student in the 3rd Semester of the Security Management Associate's Degree Program.
My only complaint is that sometimes I do have to email them once to get them to ship my next course. I haven't had to do email more than once yet for any course and they usually send them automatically but it's still annoying.
Overall, I would recommend Ashworth.
1. It's about as cheap as you can get ($80 per credit hour).
2. You DO learn a great deal. I just wrote a 17 page research paper on the Columbine massacre for a course assignment; it's not just skimming books and filling out tests. You will be challenged.
3. Plenty of Regionally Accredited Schools will accept it. You just need to shop around beforehand. Prior to beginning with Ashworth, I contacted Belleview University (Regionally Accredited) and the representative told me that they do accept Ashworth's transfers for their four year degree programs.
4. Ashworth is starting to offer 4 year degree programs. They just added Criminal Justice and I may go with them if they add Security Management.
5. It's nice to work at your own pace. I got really busy with my job for two months at the end of 07 and had to take a break. Basically, I started 8 months ago and am halfway done. I should be done by May if I stick with it (could have finished by February if I hadn't gotten distracted).
Many of the complaints that others have mentioned are well-founded but I really think Ashworth is worth it, all things considered.
Bill G January 15, 2008 at 9:42 a.m.
Sorry, "Bellevue" University.
LA January 17, 2008 at 6:52 p.m.
I'm in the 3rd semester of my Associates in Security Management. All the comments you read about student services are true. I've been totally lied to on more than one occassion. It takes multiple requests to receive your grades on the "mandatory graded assignments" (essays you need to submit on some of the courses.) I've been told it takes 6 to 8 weeks to grade a paper. I've faxed in papers, called the next day and been told they received them, waited 8 weeks only to be told they didn't have them and had to start all over again.
They have never answered any of my emails or faxes, so all communication is by phone - and be prepared to wait a long time.
I've had to challenge them numerous times on exam questions where they have the wrong answer. They always give me credit for the correct answer, but it takes forever to get it straightened out and I wonder about the people who are taking these exams who don't check their answers and aren't aware that they can challenge them. I had one case where the study guide had a totally different statement than the book and when I questioned it they said "always go with what the book says". But if they know the study guides are wrong, why don't they correct them?
I'm not at all impressed with the quality of the material. I received one study guide that was printed upside down and backwards. A lot of the books are from Pearson Custom Publishing and are poorly printed and hard to read.
Yes, it's cheap, and yes, it's easier than having to go to a traditiaonal college, but you're basically on your own as far as the educational value. You can get a degree, but I'm not sure about getting an education.

Ashworth sucks! I am a Student at Appalachian State University in North Carolina, and I would Challange my criminal justice degree against a student from Ashworth College and time. It's a waste of money and time.
Bill G January 19, 2008 at 7:53 a.m.
Appalachian State, huh?
That's a fairly pointless comparison since your school doesn't offer online degrees. Also, an Ashworth student can complete an Associate's degree for half of what your parents are paying now for your first two years and then transfer to a decent four year institution.
Anonymous January 20, 2008 at 6:36 a.m.
Chad,
First learn how to write a proper sentence. Secondly, you're pretty brazen to discount any education based on the institution alone. Thirdly, you're a complete idiot for making such a statement. Continue on with your education and hopefully you'll be blessed to learn a thing or two. And guess what, I don't have a criminal justice degree and I would dance circles around your mediocre education.
Another Student January 22, 2008 at 7:30 p.m.
I have had the same experience as most of the other users here. The customer services is the worst I have ever come across. But considering the cost and that fact that you will actually learn something and obtain a degree that is transferable...its hard to complain to much.
Rocky February 5, 2008 at 10:22 a.m.
I am currently enrolled in A.S. Criminal Justice through Ashworth University, and I honestly find it to be a good experience. They accepted 12 credits that I previously earned through a b&m school and I am finishing up my first semester now. I haven't taken my semester exam yet, but over all I must say the quality of education I am receiving is pretty good. The customer service does take a few days to reply to e-mails, but I have always received a reply. The reason I enrolled in Ashworth is because I am enlisted in the U.S. Navy and am always deployed. Ashworth gives me the opportunity to get an education on my own time, so I am satisfied with everything. I plan on transfering my degree to a regionally accreditted university to complete a BA. Many regionally accreditted distance learning schools do accept Ashworth degrees, so do your homework and find out as much as you can if you decide to enroll in Ashworth.
Dawn February 12, 2008 at 9:50 a.m.
I am currently enrolled at Ashworth University working towards my Associates in Psychology. I have to agree with everyone by saying that Student Services does suck. Almost every person i have talked to is rude. I have contacted them by email numerous times and they have never contacted me back. The biggest problem i have is when i do the mandatory graded assignments sometimes they don't recieve them. I have used both methods of faxing and mailing and my papers still manage to get lost some how. It's happened twice now. Then i get told that it takes 2-4 weeks to grade a paper. I don't understand why the heck it takes so long to grade those papers. I do understand that they probably recieve tons, but they should have qualified staff that can grade those papers and not take forever. The quality of education is great. I have learned alot. I just don't like getting held up. Until they grade the mandatory assignments, you can't move on to your next class. If anyone would like to contact me and chat about school, email me at browneyeddawn@aol.com It would be a great way to get to know people going to the same school because they don't have a school chat room or anything.
Jamye February 29, 2008 at 9:16 p.m.
I am enrolled in the Paralegal Program, and hope to go to law school afterwards. I have not had the bad experiences that some of you relate. I have had no trouble with Student Services. AND, my brother in law is an attorney, and I had him look over some of the textbooks I had recieved and the curriculum. He could find no fault with the program and commended me on having the discipline to do it online!
Jack March 20, 2008 at 12:31 p.m.
I would suggesting stearing clear of this minefield. As already mentioned customer service is non-existant. Faculty assistance is non-existant as well. You are better off going to your local library and saving your money because no one is there to support you.
tic tac March 21, 2008 at 7:36 a.m.
Just posting this for everyones info about DETC accreditation and how they have a hard time transfering to RA schools. Some DETC schools even consider RA superior to themselves... it is quite astonishing.

I am interest in AS Early Childhood at Ashworth. The tuition is reasonable and I am a working mother. I have this mind set once I do my courses pass, get a legitimate degree and can find online schools that accept my credits thats all that matters. I read that Phoenix unuversity accepts it.I can care less about their rude behaviour I can be rude too. Just give me what I earned and paid for. If anyone is doing this course please respond. Ashworth has a few staff problems they need to improve this however they are a saviour for a lot of people. Come on, their $80.00 to compare with $150.00 - $200.00 big colleges.
ud36tw3@yahoo.com March 24, 2008 at 7:48 p.m.
I am currently enrolled at Ashworth University pursuing an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice. It has been an ok experience. My only suggestion for improvement would be the shipping time. I would think for $24/semester in shipping costs they could send it so it arrives in less that one week. Also, it takes approx. 6-8 weeks to receive grades on mandatory assigments which slows you down in completing the program.
When I email a question, I get a response within 72 hours. I have not attempted to contact any of the faculty members so I have not experienced some of the frustrations I have read about. Please feel free to email me at ud36tw3@yahoo.com if you would like to know more about the A.S. Criminal Justice program or if you are currently enrolled in Ashworth University. Overall, considering the savings in tuition and the flexibility of online versus actual classroom, it's acceptable.

I just enrolled a few days ago in Ashworth. One thing that is great is their live chat person. She is extremely courteous. But she would have to be in order to get ppl enrolled. I got through to customer service via telephone in about 12 mins. They have an option to call you back when they are out of queue which they did as promised. The CSR was not cheerful by any means but did rectify the issue immediatly. He was in no way rude just seemed to not like his job.
PHILLIP April 6, 2008 at 8:13 p.m.
I am an Ashworth University student, and what a wonderful opportunity it is to be a student there. Some things that were negeative about the school was the work. I'm the type who has to apply what I've learned and some of the courses I took didn't have that. Now I'm in the second semester and they have assignments to do which made it more interesting and not just taking the tests. Well, they did have 'real-world projects' in my first semester courses but they were optional, but as I progressed there were mandatory assignments. Also, I called and they said they were working on giving the students assignments and projects which is cool because it will be beneficial to us. Hope they keep up the good work. God Bless!!!

Ashworth ......is not a good investment, it is a great investment. You get a accredited degree for a fraction of the cost. I know some of you are complaining that you can't transfer your credits. I have no problems transferring mine. i need to write a book...so I can get paid for telling you what you could do with the Degree. Knowledge is POWER ....
I am happy with Ashworth. My degree is Healthcare Management ... and I tested out of all the core courses. This is a good thing cause I am sure I knew probably way more than the teachers

I am considering in enrolling at Ashworth for AA in Psych. I don't have money to waste or time either. I 've read the students pros and cons. What are the names of the colleges that are accepting Ashworth credits????? email me at mimi2bless@yahoo.com.

Ashworth credits do transfer, but you have to research it. For example, they transfer to University of Phoenix online.

Are the career diploma programs any good for landing a good entry level job?
sarah May 2, 2008 at 5:23 p.m.
ok if u think that way than ur really stupid but i guess u need to go to learn some manner before even writing a review here lol
PHILLIP May 3, 2008 at 5:22 a.m.
First off this is supposed to be a review on the school, not review of the spelling errors when someone comments. Anyway, to Harley, personally I myself was thinking about going for a career diploma program after I completed my Associate's degree. Some jobs do consider the programs and it may qualify you for a great entry level job. Maybe you should contact the job first about it.

I am a current student with Ashworth University. I am very satisfied with the quality of instruction here. Every textbook has been very informative and easy to understand. The learning guides that the instructors provide have been equally helpful. The learning guide provides a distance learning version of an instructor's lecture for each lesson. The student services and tutoring departments have improved thier service dramatically ever since the three school heads (PCDI, Ashworth College, and James Madison High School) were consolidated into one school. My calls are answered quickly and I get the help I need. Ashworth University is nationally accredited by the DETC, which is a well respected agency recognized by the US Dept. of Education. I would recommend Ashworth University to any and all who are seeking an accredited college education with great flexibility and value.

Im enrolled in the computer repair course, I think the school have made it easy for student to pass the course
The test are easy to answer because its an open book test.
My concern is will employer of high tech firms accept
the courses that I finish from this school.

Thanks Philip... just cuz I wrote like that it doesn’t mean I don’t know how to use punctuation mark or whatever rubbish that person wrote. Anyways, guys I still think that Ashworth University is a great school; I am graduating soon hopefully by the end of this month. I already got a job offer from bank of America as a banking center manager, I think that is a great start for me hopefully I will be starting my job in June. Good luck guys

I am reading all the comments. Mostly, are criticizing Ashworth because of student services, attitudes, and other things. Why are you going there? when you was in other schools and colleges, there was lots of bad attitudes,so what is the problem. Are you going to let attitudes keep you from getting that degree or that job.? HAVE A GOOD DAY!

I just had an absolutely awful experience with some one at Ashworth University -student services. She was downright rude when I just wanted to make an enquiry about signing up.
I was attracted to the low prices and my initial conversation with another young lady ,but after todays experience, uh uh!
I Suggest Ashworth launch an immediate retraining in customer relations among its employees. Dont they have customer quality controll monitoring. Ashworth has just lost me because of a very rude fly in the ointment.
