Brenau is SACS accredited. However, it is not AACSB or AICPA accredited. Good luck.

Brenau University is a unethical school in their grading policies. I attended Brenau for my undergraduate degree and their Master's program and had discrimination problems with one of their professors name Dr. Haney. He changed my grade to an zero a week after I took an online test accusing me of cheating. According to their catalog students are suppose to be informed before grades are changed (per catalog) but that was not the case. I had to write to the Dean and President to get something done about this and my grade was changed to its orginal grade after several angry emails to them. Dr. Haney changed my grade because it was his way of getting back at me after I challenged him about a grade of mine, I asked the school look into his behavior in class at the Atlanta campus. Apparently professors can use the word B**** with no consequences at Brenau and not be held responsible for their actions. They told me since other students weren't offended by his actions my claim was not warranted. This professor tore my paper during the so called investigation and he not was addressed accordingly for this behavior, I never received an apology for his actions. Fellow veterans please stay away from this school and take your GI Bill elsewhere. This school is private, so they do not have to follow any federal or state rules, so if you have any complaints follow up with SACS or the better business bureau for complaints against them.

First of all, let me start by saying that I am not here to sell Brenau University. Back in October of 2009, I posted a response to someone who bashed Brenau and its academic standards. At the time, I was just beginning the MBA program. I will be completing the program next month, and I must say that it was not easy in any way. I truly feel like I got my money's worth. Those who are not successful at online learning are those who tend to procrastinate and need someone to hold their hand at all times.

If you are not a self-starter, or get easily frustrated when the professor is not right there at your call, then online studies are not for you; no matter where you choose to matriculate. Personally, I think that the undgergrad program that anyone takes will definitely have an impact on how they perform at the next level. If your undergrad program was sub-par, then guess what??? You will struggle at the next level also.

Those of you who are complaining need to take responsibility for your own actions and quit blaming the school. If you are always blaming the school for your shortcomings, then this is what you will do in the real world!

I have just started the MBA, Accounting program and I love it so far! Sure, you have to figure things out yourself, but this is college after all.

Trevor,

Brenau is a historic woman’s college dating back at least 100 years that has NEVER had any of its accreditation called into question. Let me also state that the school is also properly accredited. I am a recent MBA graduate and undergraduate alumni of Brenau. The programs are challenging and rigorous. If you are looking to “buy” a degree Brenau is not your place. This school is well respected and recognized as one of the best schools in the nation as someone else stated.

Attending Brenau online is a serious pain. I've been programming computers and web sites for 20 years, and even completed my Bachelor program online with no problems. Their systems do not work together and are a royal PITA. They have "Campus Web", "Tiger Email", "Blackboard", "Barnes and Noble", and lastly their intranet site, each requiring their own login. Nothing is integrated. To register for a class you need to tell them what program you are in, you'd think they would know. Next you have to tell them you are taking the class online, that's right they don't know that either. When you select your classes, you'll see both online and offline, your degree program and other degree programs. You have to view a academic calendar to find out the dates of your class, because the class registration area sure doesn't tell you. Bottom line, there is a million places you have to go to get things done. Don't bother calling their staff, all you will get is voice mails and on occasions, "sorry this mailbox is full" messages. Want to buy your textbook at a location other than Barnes and Noble, sorry there is no ISBN information listed. You have to email people to find that out. If it were not for the excellent military discount Brenau offers, I'd find a better online school.

My Bachelor degree program (I won't mention the school because I don't want someone thinking I'm only writing this to give another school a recommendation) was done right. Once you login, it gives you a list of your classes in your degree program, shows you which ones are complete and which are left to do, and you just click "register" next to the class. They automatically send the book to you, you don't have to do a thing. This is how all schools should be.

Like Gfrost, I would be interested in your proof of the sub-standard courses you took at Brenau. It appears to me as though you could not handle online studies so you bailed and blame the school for your failings. I am sure you found an online school that made it easy on you.
On the subject of credits, if the "real" school you eventually attended would not take Brenau credits I would have questioned there accreditation, simply because Brenau is one of the top rated schools in the nation and very well respected.

What school would not take Regionally accredited credits?

I went to Brenau online with an MBA-Accounting major. Most of the courses that I took were absolutely worthless and the level of education was undergrad at best. I found the instructors to be extremely rude and difficult to work with. Half way through the program, and after wasting over $8,000.00, I decided to drop out and go to a 'real' school.
The 'real' school that I ended up going to would not accept any credits from Brenau because they are NOT aacsb certified! Do yourself a huge favor and stay away from this so called school.
