Description
Social scientists study the inter-relationships of individuals and groups within society. The major in social science is designed to offer students a broad background so they can develop a sensitivity to how individuals relate with one another within society. Thirty (30) units are offered via Chico Distance & Online Education, with the remainder available at a community college. Upper division general studies thematic courses are available via Chico Distance & Online Education. The curriculum rotates on a three-year cycle. The Social Science major, plus five courses, satisfies the social science curricular requirements for admission into credential work to teach Social Studies at the secondary level. So far, I am very impressed with this program and Chico State. I live in the outskirts of Fresno, and had planned to attend Fresno State. I wasn't able to work out a schedule of classes at Fresno, as I am a working adult. I found Chico's online program, and quickly applied. I am starting my classes next week, and am really excited. The staff and faculty always answers my questions when I call, and the follow up is exceptional. When I've called Fresno State, I usually get the answering machine or a long wait.
