The Department of Librarianship, Educational Technology, and Distance Instruction in the School of Education at East Carolina offers a MAEd (for public school advanced licensure) and an MS in Instructional Technology. The program's objective is to train students to be designers and developers of computer-based instructional materials for education, government, and business.Departmental Policies:According to departmental policy, instructional technology students in the MAEd program must take the following courses exclusively from East Carolina University: EDTC 6020, EDTC 6025, EDTC 6030, EDTC 6035, EDTC 6037, EDTC 6140, EDTC 6230, EDTC 6300, and EDTC 7310. For any other EDTC courses or their equivalent, university policy states students must receive prior departmental approval before taking courses outside of the university for transfer credit to the program.Admission Procedure:Download a graduate application packet from the Graduate School then complete the application form along with the other included forms (Statement of Legal Residence form&Statement of Purpose form). Check out the new online application-this is for degree status only! Return the completed forms along with official copies of all transcripts and three letters of reference to the Graduate School. Print the SIT Entrance Application and Career Goal Statements and mail or fax them to the address on the bottom of the form. These forms are in Microsoft Word 6.0 format and can be opened by the WordPad program included with Windows or with Microsoft Word. Applications will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
