Description

The master of arts in education is the professional degree in art education. Graduate certification requires demonstrated competence and recommendations from the certifying institution. This is a one-year or equivalent degree. The curriculum prepares elementary, middle, and secondary school art teachers to develop their competence as creative artists, teachers, and classroom-based researchers in art and education. The MAEd requires a minimum 33 - 36 semester hours credit. The thesis research may be classroom-based and/or be related to broad areas of research interests identified by national and professional organizations. The thesis must be conventional research dealing with a significant problem in the field of art education.Culminating Project Option: For the 36 semester hours minimum, students may choose to take, in place of the thesis, and with the approval of the adviser, an additional 6 semester hours of art courses and 3 semester hours of electives. This was a very good site. It showed in detail what courses you would be required to take.
I would like more information on the cost and requirements to be inrolled into the program. I graduated from ECU in 2001 with a BFA in art education and a BFA in art (consentration: Painting). I have been working in Onslow county schools for seven years, and am very interested in a master's degree.
