Health information management professionals manage health care data and information resources. The profession encompasses services in planning, collecting, aggregating, analyzing and disseminating individual patient and aggregate clinical data. It serves the health care industry including: patient care organizations, payors, research and policy agencies, and other health care-related industries. Successfully complete general education courses and pre-requisite courses prior to entering the program. These requirements are listed in the East Carolina University's Undergraduate Catalog. All pre-requisite courses require a minimum grade of "C".2. Have a minimum overall grade point average of 2.5. The admission process is competitive; it is to the candidate's advantage to have a higher GPA.3. Admission to East Carolina University. (Transfer students only)4. Return the completed Admission Application PACKET postmarked by FEBRUARY 16.5. Applicants will be evaluated using the following criteria: Grade point average, Course work completed at ECU, Written communication skills measured through response to Interest Profile, Place of residence (instate vs. out-of-state)6. The applicant will be notified of the department's acceptance or rejection prior to pre-registration for summer school and fall semester.7. Return his or her acceptance of admission letter.8.
