The Master's of Science in Industrial Technology Computer Networking Management concentration prepares graduates for employment in the information technology field. The program provides hardware and software experiences in network security, enterprise network system design, implementation, and management. The Computer Networking Management concentration provides experiences which would be helpful in the following jobs: Chief Information Officer, Network Architect, Information Security Officer, Network Administrator, Corporate Trainer, Computer Analyst, Corporate Consultant, Technology Integration Specialist. Each applicant must take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or the Miller Analogies Test (MAT) and achieve a satisfactory score. The program is Internet- based and students are advised, complete courses, collaborate on projects, perform research, and complete the degree via the Internet. Each student should have a state-of-the-art computer and reliable Internet access. Students report that they spend an average of 12 hours per week in preparation for and participating in each course. Most of the students in the Computer Networking Management concentration are working professionals who are pursuing the degree for career advancement. Average completion time is 28 months and the courses are scheduled in a tight sequence for the fall, spring, and summer semesters. Formats for the courses vary by instructor but all include frequent interaction with the instructor and other students. Self reliance is a must for successful students. Courses are offered using a variety of Internet-based tools including email, chat, threaded discussion, web, file transfer, audio, video, and collaboration tools.
