Description
This program is designed for registered nurses seeking to obtain a BSN and requiring a program of study specifically designed to provide flexibility in scheduling and recognition of their RN status. The School of Nursing provides a creative and innovative program of study that permits flexibility in scheduling. Registered nurses who are graduates of approved diploma or approved associate degree programs in nursing are provided the opportunity to apply prior learning and experience to advance through the program in part-time or full-time study.Application Process:All students must meet minimum requirements as specified in the current undergraduate catalog. Admission to the university is determined by the director of undergraduate admissions. ECU Admission Application forms, transcripts, and questions regarding admission must be directed to Undergraduate Admissions 252-328-6640.Applicants must apply to the ReNew Track Office in the School of Nursing for admission to the nursing major. Applications for admission to the ReNew Track should be returned no later than March 1 for fall admission and July 1 for spring admission. Admission to the School of Nursing is determined by the Student Affairs Committee.Requirements include an overall GPA of 2.2; a grade of C or above is required in each math and science course; satisfactory completion of prerequisite courses; and space availability. RNs must hold a current, valid license to practice as a registered nurse in North Carolina. Applicants can be admitted to the University and enroll in prerequisite courses prior to admission to the School of Nursing.Curriculum:Once the prerequisite courses are completed and admission to the nursing major occurs, the RN enrolls in the bridge/transition courses - - NURS 3900 and NURS 3901.
