This interdisciplinary certificate program is designed to prepare professionals in the rapidly expanding field of performance improvement (PI). Faculty from programs in Instructional Technology and Industrial Technology work together to enable students to reach their full potential in this dynamic field. To learn about the field of PI, read these three definitions of the field, from Google Answers, ISPI, and ASTD. Learn more about PI from these professional organizations: International Society for Performance Improvement http://www.ispi.org/; American Society for Training and Development http://www.astd.org/ASTD; The certificate program requires 18 semester hours of graduate level course work in instructional technology and industrial technology. Applicants to this certficate program must meet the same admissions requirements as for the Master of Science in Instructional Technology, http://www.coe.ecu.edu/lsit/it/, (MS-IT) program. Graduate School, http://www.ecu.edu/gradschool/, admissions and retention standards will apply. Courses The following six courses are required of all students in the certificate program. EDTC 6010 Introduction to Instructional Technology (3) (F, S) Overview of historical background, theories, instructional design and development, deliverers of instruction, current issues, and trends. EDTC 6020 Principles of Instructional Design (3) (F, S) Systematic process for design of instruction. Task analysis and evaluation techniques. EDTC 6125 Performance Technology: Principles and Strategies (3) Introduction to performance technology, its interrelationship with instructional technology, and its application to corporate training. ITEC 6001 Work Measurement and Design (3) ITEC 6200 Project Management: Technological and organizational change occurs by planning and implementing projects. This course covers the tools every practicing manager should know about project management. ITEC 6295 Technical Communications for Industry.
