Excelsior College is the best value available if one performs sufficient research
July 4, 2011
****Items rated as five should be considered N/A**** First of all I would like to clarify that I earned an associates in science, a two year transfer degree and intend to one day complete a four year degree (probably from Excelsior). I would also like to clarify that I never took any actual classes with Excelsior and am not sure why anyone would, not because the classes are poor (from what I've heard they are ...

Not bad for military, but not sure of real world use
February 6, 2011
I completed my associates degree in a little over a year with my SMART transcript. The math instructors provided good tools to make the information easier to understand. The other classes rely on papers and projects more than tests (since they are taken online) to test the students knowledge. I used Excelsior to get my degree for advancement in the Navy, but I am not sure about its real world value. I plan on going ...

Its a scam
August 9, 2009
People that run this are inept and out for money. The person who runs the military credit exchange is a joke. Funny how a brick and mortar school (where I am now at) accepted my ACE/DANTES and other military credits but this crap school wouldn't. Too bad I had to find out after a few hundred dollars. Folks-you get what you pay for and work for-there are no easy degrees. Save yourself the hassle and ...

Calling it a sham is way overboard. Your experience is uncommon, if even true at all. They accept ACE/DANTES credits, the only limitation being that it has to apply to your degree requirements and not duplicate other credits. Every other school in the entire country has at least that restriction, and there are none as flexible as Excelsior. I'd venture to say that you would only rarely find a school at all that would accept your military experience for credit.

By the way, the idea that you didn't find out until after paying several hundreds of dollars is either a flat out lie or a proof positive of your ignorance. After you pay your enrollment fee (which is about the same or less than at most other colleges) they give you an evaluation of what credits they accept B-E-F-O-R-E you enroll, so there is NO WAY that there were any surprises.

You are wrong in that there are no "easy degrees," plenty of dishonest, unaccredited and illegal schools will give you a degree in anything at any level for just a few hundred dollars. However Excelsior doesn't fit into that category at all.

If they weren't the school for you... fine... but your attack insults the entire program and the thousands upon thousands of people who received a great education on course to obtaining a degree from them. I could likewise call your school a SHAM because I am sure that it wouldn't in any way fit my needs. I would advise every person to stay away from YOUR crap school because they don't have the decency to accept up to 100% of your degree as transfer credit, while Excelsior does. YOUR crap school wishes to think that my previous education simply didn't happen at all. MY school respects me as an adult and treats me as such, and would have done the same for you if you didn't throw a juvenile hissyfit when you realized that you should have read the liberal arts catalogue before you applied, OR, actually looked at your transfer credit evaluation before enrolling.

You do what you wish with your money. If you want to throw it into a wood chipper, then that is your right. It is not your right, however, to defame even the wood chipper for what you have done.

I REALLY hope you continue your education and are satisfied with your new school.

Disclosure: I am a student with them and extremely happy so far.
