Description
The goal of the master's program in social work at Florida State University is to provide quality preparation for advanced practitioners who will work with diverse client systems and problems. Toward this end, the master's program in social work will prepare students who:* Understand the history of social welfare and the social work profession and who can practice within the values and ethics of the social work profession; * Have an understanding of and respect for diversity and work toward social and economic justice; * Are aware of their responsibility to continue their professional growth and development; * Can critically analyze the impact of social policies on client systems, workers, agencies, communities, and nations, and seek changes in social policies and practices; * Can critically evaluate and apply research findings to practice and further evaluate their own practices and disseminate findings; and * Are able to apply the knowledge and skills of advanced social work practice in an area of concentration.
