This innovative Masters Degree program is designed for individuals who want to lead the way in improving teaching and learning in education and training settings through the application of educational technology theory and practice. By completing this program, students will be prepared with the knowledge and abilities necessary to effectively solve learning problems in a variety of settings.
The ETL program is specifically designed for students who wish to participate in improving the quality of education at school, work, and community through the informed use of educational technologies. Courses integrate new curricular experiences involving cooperative learning, project-based assessments, expert interviews, product demonstrations, role modeling, field-based inquiry, and world-wide networking with traditional listen and read methods.
The 36-credit-hour program includes required course work in the theory and practice of educational technology systems, technological management systems, policy-making, research methods, and leadership. Nine hours of the program are specialization electives.

Unique leadership program

The ETL program is unique in that it will challenge you in the management of technology programs, as well as in the execution. This is important because in many organizations, there is a leadership void in how to handle technology. The program does not attempt to teach specific software programs, and you may view that as a minus- but in reality you can learn those skills somewhere else, while the theory that GW teaches is ...
Great program!

I have found this program to be very innovative and enjoyable. I am in an education field, but have found that I have been able to apply almost all of my projects/papers to some aspect of my work. The courses are excellent, and the variety of courses enables the student to learn about the broad aspects of education, technology and leadership. The ETL program is a great value. The instructors and section leaders are very ...
Excellent Program

This program is very flexible and many students take several classes while working full-time. However, the expectations and level of participation expected are greater than any face-to-face program. The teachers and other students are so supportive and always accessible. Although it seemed that many of the students worked in the fields of higher education or business training, as an elementary teacher I found all of the material very relevant. I was able to tailor both ...

The two things that have impressed me the most about the program are the in depth class discussions (they last throughout the week so you almost get more out of them than an in-person class which would last roughly an hour) and the flexibility ...
Top Notch!

I found the Educational Technology Leadership (ETL) program to be top notch. I researched many programs before selecting this one and I have never regretted the decision to go with GWU. The format and structure of the courses is very engaging and the fellow students are not only stellar, but also generous with their knowledge and experience. The faculty and administration is approachable and reaches out to students, making you feel a part of a ...

The program, located at the George Washington University, is a great value for the education you get. Overall the program is excellent. The materials all support the topic at hand. Each semester new courses are added as electives so that students can learn about emerging technologies. The faculty are actively supportive of students and are available via e-mail and telephone. The reason for the 9 is because there is always one faculty member who is ...
