This is not a bad school, but I can't warn you enough... If you think earning your degree part time online is the way to go.. this may not be the university for you. The classes are crushingly difficult, not usually for the subject matter, but for the amount of work required. I spent nearly 30 hours per week on an Algebra class and I still couldn't fulfill the homework, tests, sample problems, readings, discussion questions. This course requires around 70 hours per week and I just don't have the time (Please also note that I excel at Algebra, previously graduating from a university with a 4.0 and an associates in Electrical Engineering). I also have many computer science certifications, I can subnet in binary. Most courses are boring rehashes of previous courses where no real meaningful information is learned.. As with any university. The group projects are wretched, poorly designed drivel. In a real university, there is interaction, the same time zone and you know if someone drops the class (they quit showing up). Sometimes by the time a group project comes due, its just me or me and one other person in the class. Due to drops, etc. Or you get disconnected students across different time zones who really don't care to participate. Also, the work in the projects.. doesn't even really require a group.. It's just a bunch of nonsense strung together so they can say "GCU encourages group learning". Some of the teachers are halfway decent, but the courses are so poorly designed that I can't recommend this university to anyone. I've already told five individuals that were considering online degrees to stay far away from GCU. So, if you have no job, no family, can survive with little sleep and cut back on your bathroom breaks GCU is for you!

The financial aid and accounting department made a mistake and now I'm being held responsible! Don't even deal with the aggravation. Try Ottawa University or find a local traditional university that offers online degrees, like Arizona State University! They don't care about students once they get you enrolled, once you post in the classroom, you become just a number and you're on your own.

I am on my last class for an MBA in Accounting and Finance. I had a great time getting my MBA through GCU and would recommend it to everyone. While there is a good deal of weekly reading, the majority of assignments are pretty simple. As long as you put the effort into doing your work, you will excell. My only issue is that it can be hard to makie contact with your academic counselor.

I am a little more than half-way through the MBA program (w/an emphasis in accounting), and have found that most courses have required rigorous assignments that offer practical knowledge. The instructors are well-educated professionals, many of them PhDs, that really put the time and effort into helping students through their courses. I find that the education Grand Canyon delivers far exceeds the cost. I'll write another review when I am through with the program to comment on the marketability of the degree.
