Grand Canyon University

Grand Canyon did not properly file paperwork to collect funds for the military G. I. Bill. They did not contact, but instead listed it on my credit report and put a hold on my transcript. I had to resend the paperwork to the school a year later and the military paid them in FULL. I'm still unable to get my transcript and promised to clear my credit and never did. I've called and emailed many MANY times, but once they got there money they are unwilling to help.

Professors are absolutely horrible. Their comments on assignments do not match the grades they give. Half the time they don't appear to even read the papers. For example, professor told me I did a great job explaining the super-philosophies of supervision but failed to match one with my own beliefs. HOWEVER, the ENTIRE paper was about experimentalism and mentioned NO other super-philosophy at all in it. The assignment directions are very vague and most professors will not support or help you as they have no clue either. The online program is a boxed set of classes where they simply check the boxes off. Its a lot of money for a terrible experience. Each week is a research essay of 1500 words plus 2 discussion questions and 3-5 responses. No consistency between professors and school policies and proper writing. One professor said never use "I" in grad work the next one took off because I didn't. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE....STAY FAR AWAY!!!

Do not waste your time and money at this school. Instructors (not professors) are terrible at grading and responding. An example: I received a grade of 76.4 on an ENG 105 essay. I requested information as to why I was getting this grade and the instructor had no evidence and responded by increasing my grade without telling me why it was scored so low.

My husband and I finally decided to go back to school and finish our degrees in June of 09. We chose GCU due to it being an actual university and a highly accredited Christian college. The first two months were great as far as support goes. Adivsors replied to email and phone call very quickly as well as called just to check up. Financial aid was easy and timely. After the first couple of months our advisors began changing like flavors of the week. They also would not, and still do not, reply to emails take phone calls or involve you in any way in your own educational career!!! It is absolutely ridiculous! You pay that much money and you can't even speak to someone about your upcoming classes, what is going on with your financial aid, getting a bookloan, or any other problem you may have. I have countless emails on file from where I have tried to contact all three of my advisors that went unanswereed! I also got each one's voicemail many times and never received a call back. I feel my entire last year at GCU has been a complete waste of my educational time and money, as well as my husband's and several other people we know taking online courses through GCU. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!! However great they used to, they are just as TERRIBLE AND UNCARING now! I am in the process of changing schools.
