I was able to transfer 24 riedct hours from high school via AP classes (and exams) and dual enrollments courses at a community college. You mentioned both of these as a way to earn riedct. But you *can* do some of these while in high school. And doing so, it'll likely be free to you.

I am a graduating high school senior and considered going to HCCC as I reside in NY. The school is very nice and they are well-known locally for their online program. I am an advanced student with 20 college credits from a community college nearby and every one of those credits would transfer if I went to Herkimer. I went there on the instant admission day and the staff was very friendly, helpful, and didn't rush me whatsoever. The degree programs are diverse and they have a lot of transfer agreements to other online and on-campus colleges located both in NYS (such as Empire State college and almost all the other SUNY schools) and other states across the nation (such as Franklin University).

The only thing that made me not go there for my college education is the fact that they do not have any specialized business accreditation (such as AACSB). Also, the credits only transfer to in-state schools (besides the few online schools that take all credits). This is an issue for me since I plan on transferring out to a college in Boston, MA once I receive my Associate's degree.

The tuition is cheap for in-state students and since I had completed college-level English, they waived my placement exam. Another great thing is you can enroll into the honors program while pursuing a degree online.
