ZERO STUDENT SUPPORT-Grading BIAS!!!!!!!!!
May 22, 2012
The instructors are allowed to grade as they "feel". Each class is run and operated by the instructor, not the university. If you have an issue with an instructor or have a concern like question specific assignment criteria or grading practices. Tough luck! I was told by the dean, who refused to get involved. I maintained a 3.96 GPA until my last term. I took a lower level elective (200 series)and questioned the grades I ...

You Get Out Of Kaplan What You Put Into It.
May 15, 2011
Kaplan University Online is not a brick and mortar school. It's not meant to be and it doesn't function like one. It's not supposed to. I have taken online classes from four universities two brick and mortar universities and two online schools, Kaplan and Phoenix. It's the same at every school. Online classes are guided self learning. If you want to learn a lot you have to spend a lot of time studying. You won't ...

Financial Aid sucks - all help is based on prewritten scripts.

Do not have any problems and your experience will be fine. Unless the problem is Kaplan based, like a new IT infrastructure, then you will be screwed. As an Alumni of the Undergrad degrees, I thought Kaplan would be a great place to get my Masters Degree as well because I was familiar with the technology, the course layout, and the support team that was in play for the undergrad courses. Everything was going fine ...

TERRIBLE Accounting Practices
February 16, 2011
If anyone needs to learn anything it is the Kaplan Student Accounts department - they need to learn basic mathematics in adding and subtracting. I am a cash student and my account maintains a credit balance (meaning I have over paid) but I get phone calls routinely advising I am past due. When you look at your ledger, it never matches the amount owed when you make a payment. To add to the problem, it ...

Kaplan University served me well!
December 26, 2010
I chose Kaplan because I have 3 children, 2 of whom are under 5. I also work full time and I change shifts often, not of my own doing. My employer does not allow us to take time off for school unless you take a non-paid educational leave. So that wasn't an option. My only viable option was to take online classes. Now, I must admit that the Academics Advisor that I dealt with was ...

Kaplan is definitely challenging
November 21, 2010
I am in my second year for my BSBA with an concentration in Human Resources. I have had my issues with FA who hasn't, the courses are very challenging I am finishing up my 2nd year and in a few weeks starting my third year. I have a 3.82 GPA after attending 16 courses, I have made the presidents list twice and the deans list six times. There has only been one semester when I ...

FINANCIAL AID
September 16, 2010
THE FINANCIAL AID AT KAPLAN IS A MAJOR DETERANT AND THE REASON THAT I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND ANYONE ELSE TO ATTEND. I WAS TOLD BY SEVERAL FA OFFICERS THAT MY FA WAS PACKAGED CORRECTLY AND I WOULD NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS, CONSIDERING I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEM IN UNDERGRAD. I FINISHED MY MBA (WITH HONORS MIND YOU) AND STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY DEGREE IN THE MAIL BECAUSE OF THIS BALANCE. NO ONE ...

I have attended Kaplan University for over a year now and am graduating on the President's List with my Associate's Degree. I have been absolutely thrilled with my experience with Kaplan, the FA office, and my Professors. I have had FA this entire time and have only had one goof up on their part, which wasn't serious.
Online school is not for everyone and it does take some serious discipline. I have 4 kids and could not have done a brick and mortar at this point. Kaplan has given me the opportunity to finish my degree and hopefully to continue on for a Bachelor's at some point.

The undergrad courses at Kaplan are top notch, or at least they were when I attended between 02/2006 and 12/2009. I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Information Technology and could not have been happier with my experience. I would recommend going to Kaplan for your Undergrad courses. When it comes to your Graduate courses though, I highly recommend that you stay away from Kaplan. They will screw you over because the Financial Aid, Student Aid, and Academic Counselors are a joke and are all incompetent.

Hi. I'm not sure if all of you are talking about Kaplan. I have been at the school for 3 terms and baring little problems with the FA department and having to hold for them I have had no problems with the financial aid department. I hold a 3.75 GPA and I have always had to use my books. I don't believe that the students are not smart, sometimes they just don't understand and ask questions to make sure something is clear. Kaplan has given me a good experience and the community college where I live recommends it after an associates degree and yes...they do take Kaplan credits although it will only be 3 credit couses since Kaplan is a private for-profit college I'm assuming the extra 2 credits they charge you for is theirs. I actually recommended it to my son who has no time for a brick and mortar school. I know that their are consequences for attendence and you must be very well disciplined to be able to go to an online school so maybe some people are just not cut out for it.

I am in year two of my degree program with Kaplan University. The classes and student advisors are great, but the frustrations caused by the financial aid department are starting to outweigh the other positives. You are assigned your own financial advisor that NEVER returns emails and being new to the college experience and have numerous questions, they are NEVER answered. If you have half a day to waste you can attempt to call the financial aid department, but that in itself is far more frustrating than it is worth with the amount of time you will wait on hold. Normally the only time someone who is attending an online school will only have free time in the evenings and/or weekends due to work....and of course the financial aid department is closed at those times. I had a student loan for my school costs sent to Kaplan on 2/26 electronically straight from the bank to the school. My bank had proof that they had received the funds, but of course Kaplan could not find them. It took nearly 3 months and numerous annoying calls for them to finally locate the funds, but to this day I do not see them added to my financial aid statement. The loan was for education expenses and the remainder for living expenses. It is coming up on 4 months and I still have not received the money that was supposed to be sent to me for living expenses and still have not even received a reply from the financial department. If I was not as far into my degree plan, I would withdraw from this school and attend a more responsible one. However, I am stuck and HATE every minute of it!!!!!
