I was very happy when I found Kaplan, I was a stay at home mother and just had my daughter so I figured staying home with my daughter and getting an education was perfect Everything went well for a while, but towards my last class I would look under my payment history to see what I have to owe and the balance came up to $1,600, from out of no where. No calls, no emails ...

Dont Attend...

During my last term at Kaplan I called to make sure that my account was current and was told by the FA and Accounts Dept that I was in good standing. They even issued me a check for the amount over paid by my student loans. I completed all my classes with a GPA of 3.5. Expecting to get my degree soon I was met with a letter from Kaplan informing me that I owed ...

Master of Science in Crimnal Justice
November 14, 2011
I completed my Masters in Criminal Justice degree in August 2011. Excellent professors, who are experienced in the field and all the professors had their PhD. If you want to be smart and know your stuff, this is the school to go to. Besides, it is not set up like a work week, Kaplan cares about their students. Papers are due in the drop box on Tuesday night, so students can have a life on ...

I would like to say that kaplan University has been great for me. I graduated with honors for my undergrad. I now only have one course left for my masters' degree. I plan to attend concord law school. I believe that as with any other university that an individual choose to attend is what you put into it is what you will receive.

Do the Research Before Signing Your Life Away-Kaplan (online)

I am a former student of Kaplan University (online Criminal Justice completed my Associates Degree) What began as a dream come true turned out to be the worst nightmare I ever had. The program was misrepresented to me from the very beginning. I am disabled and have been for many years. I told my recruiter and admissions rep. every detain about my limitations. I was told this would not stand in my way of becoming ...

ADMISSIONS ADVISOR
September 7, 2011
I DIDN'T MAKE IT PAST THE ADMISSIONS ADVISOR, SO I HAVE NO QUALMS WITH FA OR PROFESSORS. BUT I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THAT THE GENTLEMEN I TALKED TO ABOUT THIS SCHOOL AND THE PROGRAM I WAS INTERESTED IN WAS VERY INFORMATIVE. HE WAS VERY OPEN AND EASY TO TALK TO. EVEN WHEN I GOT COLD FEET ABOUT GOING THROUGH WITH MY ENROLLEMENT, HE NEVER LEFT NASTY VOICE MESSAGES OR MADE ME FEEL BAD ABOUT ...

Kaplan University
September 1, 2011
I have been going to Kaplan University for over a year now and am expecting my bachelors in 2014. Everyone on here seems to have the same complaint - they have to wait on hold for forever and they owe all of this money back. Ok people really..? Yes, if you pull out student loans.. YOU HAVE TO PAY IT BACK, if you drop out in the middle of a term YOU HAVE TO PAY ...

I attended Kaplan and got my degree in Criminal Justice. I was getting ready to graduate and was hired by a large Court System in my state to handle their Child Welfare Division. they researched my degree and it seems it met their satisfaction because it has been 5 years and I am still there with even more responsibility. I loved my time with Kaplan, I enjoyed the classes, the students and the professors.

I will be graduating from Kaplan in October and I have had nothing but a great experience there. The people on here that have nothing good to say pretty much brought it upon themselves. People expect preferential treatment and want exceptions when they do something that contradicts what they originally agreed to. Grow up, life isn't fair. You make your bed so sleep in it. If you don't like your experience at a school you have the choice of leaving but I will tell you from experience there aren't many online schools out there that compare to Kaplan.

I was hesitant about attending kaplan because of all the negative reviews. I am an upcoming freshman so i can't really talk about the classes but all i can say is that my academic and financial advisor were very helpful, patient and I could always reach them.

I graduated and the program is excellent! I am going on for my masters and my degree has been accepted by two different schools without question. Do your homework before you enroll so there are no surprises. As a person who has worked for 20 years in the field, I can unequivocally state the program I took (C.J.) was excellent. I can tell you as long as your degree is from an accredited institution you are OK. When an employer interviews someone, the degree is the key to open the door, the rest is based on the individual and how he or she portrays themselves. All degrees, no matter where they are from, are only as good as the person who possesses it.

I simply just want to know; Has anyone graduated and received a degree from Kaplan? Also, has that degree helped you obtain a position in your feild of study? Or is a degree from Kaplan University honestly not worth anything in the job market? Please someone answer my questions!!!

I have no idea where these complaints are coming from. I am graduating in December and I have never ever had a problem with financial aid, phones or anything. I think it's the people that slack off in school or paying for their school that later on get stressed out and put the blame on others. GROW UP!

This school has a major issue with the phones. I sat on hold for 31 minutes this evening and had to hang up. You always talk to different people and they transfer you around all over the place. Their financial aid office has major issues as well. A school should update their records on a timely basis when federal funding is involved. I have never been more disappointed in a school as I am with Kaplan.

RE: getting help when calling in. Yes, anyone could answer the phone, eventually, but they were usually no better than a clerk-typist. If you were to luck out and this lackey actually gets the message to your advisor, the advisor was no better than a clerk-typist. Very frustrating when you're paying so much money for such unprofessional service.

I'm having the same problem as MS-Criminal Justice, the person above. It seems Kaplan's inability to correct their communication problem is the locus of their inept situation. It's been over six weeks and I'm waiting for them to release my financial aid so that I can attend another school. I would love to attend University of Phoenix had their governor not passed that horrible, racist law known as "Papers Please," the same thing Nazis would politely ask of people, mostly Jews, before they were taken away to be killed. As an activist, it's important to me to vote with my dollars. Boycotting AZ is important. So later for Kaplan and, sadly, the same for U of P.

Ok I am confused by some of these posts. For one thing, if you try to reach your academic advisor and can't reach them there is ALWAYS someone else working in the office who can help you. All you have to do is call the main number for academic services. I have never had any problems getting ahold of anyone there. Perhaps it isn't always my personal advisor but if I need help there is always someone there to help.

I heard about some issues about the financial aid, and counselors, but I tried to over looked at it. I thought it was only rumors. But, it just happened to me. I had a technicall withdrawal, because a technicality by the admission advisor. I never get to speak with my financial aid when I need her. She will return my emails only-- and after 2 or three days. My academic advisor was never available, at the moment. He was either away from his desk, or taking days off. I do not complaint about the professors, they were excellent. I finished my first term with 4.0. But the rest of were just unreasonable and unaceptable. Now, they have been holding my FAFSA for 4 weeks now, and I am not able to get financial aid until they decide to refund my money to the lender. I just made a great of a deal mistake.

I am currently enrolled at Kaplan University, working toward my Associates Of Applied Science in Criminal Justice degree. I can honestly say that I have had no problems whatsoever with anything thus far. My Academic Advisor is both friendly and helpful. My instructors are very knowledgeable, and they have a sense of humor, and really seem interested in what they are teaching. They respond to us on our discussion threads, they send us e-mails, they answer our e-mails. In my opinion, these people do everything they can possibly do to make sure we are getting a quality education.

I had no trouble enrolling, I had no trouble with financial aid, everything was explained to me both through e-mail and over the phone.

I honestly cannot believe why anyone would say they have had a bad experience with this program, as it is one of the most comfortable environments I could imagine. And for the people who complain about how long they have to stay in seminars (classes), they have no one to blame but themselves. We get to choose in advance on what days we will take the seminars. We know in advance when our work is due. If someone decided to wait until the last minute, and has to struggle to complete the assignments while taking seminars they scheduled back to back, that is not Kaplan's issue.

I am in my third term in a branch of the Kaplan University and I have to say I am very unhappy. I enjoy the instructors as they understand that we need to know the information for jobs in the field of study. What I am unhappy with is how in three terms they have changed our scheduling of classes "to see what will work" and all that it is doing is making the lives of the students especially the students who attend the evening class that much harder.Staying in classes until 10:30 at night and haveing 5 classes (20 credit hours per term) is spreading us thin. Not only that but financial aid is impossible to work with and the other major factor is the fact that half of the students attending my classes do not seem to care about the courses. They would much rather sit and discuss with their friends about personal matters than allow the other students to listen to the instructors. The instructors can not have control over these issues because the school will not back them up. Not only are the class rooms continuosly disrupted with disrespect every night but there are also girls who call others in the class names and get away with it from administration. Nothing is ever done to those who are rude, disrespectful, childish and I am VERY SICK OF IT This is supposed to be a college but to me resembles a junior high. I am here to learn and I am not getting what I had paid for.

I think Kaplan is a great school but departments such as financial aid sucks , they don't take care of their students , all they care about is money , it takes them long time to process what they need to process , when they want money they call every day but when students need something customer service representatives are no where to be found , what a shame when we look at how much money we spend to go to that school , you would at least think that they will take care of you
