I currently am supposed to start paralegal studies with kaplan with focusing on getting my degree as a JD which is equivalent to a masters degree in Law, then I found out the truth. Two days before I was supposed to start I went to the ABA (American Bar Association)website and took a look around. This school is Junk. They are not recognized by the board. and according to the board you can not even sit for the exam unless it is an approved school. Unless you want to move to California, that is the only Acception. I argued with a advisor about this for 2 hours when she finally admited that they are not approved and you can only get your license in CA. Check out rip off report. Other students have wasted time and thousands of dollars on degrees that are worthless. Thank God i have un-enrolled myself before it was too late. Contacted FASFA and Direct loans to stop payment.

Kaplan is not an accredited school or university, thus is not recognized by ANY college or university within the United States. With the non-transferable credits and high tuition costs, you would have a better opportunity getting a degree in a third world country. Save your money!

Laura, I hate to say it but you're gonna be a horrible attorney. You failed to research the accreditation before even begining the process of enrolling?!?! I feel sorry for any future clients you may have. Kaplan has been mentioned in numerous articles that talk about their law program. All of which mention they only do you any good if you plan on practicing law in California.

Yeah. Laura? You didn't do your research. I also feel sorry for any of your future clients as well.

The biggest problem you will have with Kaplan is the public perception. Most schools think the degree is a joke, accredited or not. The advisors are customer service agents who have to get back to you with any real answers that you may have. I have also had the issue with the over estimate on my Pell grants. They imply the maximum award and you may fall short, I am not sure that is entirely their fault. If you attend this school, realize you are on your own. Plan to score no less than an A in every course as you need the high marks because the school is viewed as easy. Start networking for someone who will give you an internship as it will take a while. Good Luck.
