Waste of Time

They are an awful college with a meaningless array of meaningless on-line degrees. The degrees are not taken seriously by most employers. Plus they call you five times per day every day for payments even when you are on-time and up to date with payments.

What a rip-off

Potentional students, please be aware: I attended Kaplan University for two classes, received a total of three textbooks and had to drop for personal reasons. Come to find out that the bill for that period of time: $25,000. This amount is federally backed so you cannot avoid paying it. With penalty and interest, I now owe $36,000 to a school for a degree I never completed and books I never used. Since it's federally backed, ...

Kaplan University Online degree

I am half way through my BA in Forensic Psychology. I think many people are assuming things about kaplan without getting the facts. They are acreditied and it is common sense that you would have to study after you graduate for your individual state laws as every state has different laws. I have contacted my local police department and they gave me a web site that shows which degrees from whatever institution you enroll in ...

Very Poor Education
July 13, 2010
I'm in the process of finishing my first year of a graduate program with Kaplan. I have degrees from residential colleges and I wanted to continue my education and retrain in another field. Choosing Kaplan was not the best idea. The level of education is poor; the FA department is misinformed and made numerous mistakes with my account; the technology used in the delivery of the classes is outdated and unreliable; and the other students, ...

The teachers and professors are Great!!! Financial Aid is awful!!!!! They promised me my tuition voucher for 1,000.00 plus an accelerated scholorship from Kaplan for 556.00, which would cover my remaining balance, which I also took out personal loans for more than 64,000.00. I however am know being told I owe a balanace because I cannot get both tuition voucher and accerlerated scholorship, this of course is only after i completed my bachelors degree in ...

Don't waste your money

I went to Kaplan because getting to an on site college was becoming problematic. But I wish I had never went at all. The two community colleges I had attended before I went to Kaplan was one hundred percent better and far less expensive. I learned from those schools and learned nothing worth while from Kaplan except not to go there again. I have 3k in student loans for the two years I spent at ...

They are not ABA-approved and their academic accreditation is appalling at best (they are accredited by the same accreditation body as the Art Instruction School; remember the 'draw me' ads with Tippy the Turtle?).

If you're thinking of doing their law program or JD, you can't use it in any state, really, other than CA. You must also go to CA and pass the CalBar 1st Year Law Students' Exam if you're in the JD program at Concord. Just so you know, they have an appalling passage rate.

Anyone thinking of doing the JD program needs to do a tremendous amount of research before signing up to make sure it's really what they want and if they can do *anything* with the degree.

And as others have noted, their FA department is TERRIBLE. I knew more about FA than their representatives.

One final thing: The US Dept. of Ed is *seriously* cracking down on all for-profit schools since students from these schools have such a high default rate on their loans (read: they can't get jobs with their degrees). Be very mindful of that before enrolling, since this legislation proposes to stop all Federal Funding if the schools don't seriously improve their long-term statistics.

The biggest problem you will have with Kaplan is the public perception. Most schools think the degree is a joke, accredited or not. The advisors are customer service agents who have to get back to you with any real answers that you may have. I have also had the issue with the over estimate on my Pell grants. They imply the maximum award and you may fall short, I am not sure that is entirely their fault. If you attend this school, realize you are on your own. Plan to score no less than an A in every course as you need the high marks because the school is viewed as easy. Start networking for someone who will give you an internship as it will take a while. Good Luck.

Laura, I hate to say it but you're gonna be a horrible attorney. You failed to research the accreditation before even begining the process of enrolling?!?! I feel sorry for any future clients you may have. Kaplan has been mentioned in numerous articles that talk about their law program. All of which mention they only do you any good if you plan on practicing law in California.

Kaplan is not an accredited school or university, thus is not recognized by ANY college or university within the United States. With the non-transferable credits and high tuition costs, you would have a better opportunity getting a degree in a third world country. Save your money!

I currently am supposed to start paralegal studies with kaplan with focusing on getting my degree as a JD which is equivalent to a masters degree in Law, then I found out the truth. Two days before I was supposed to start I went to the ABA (American Bar Association)website and took a look around. This school is Junk. They are not recognized by the board. and according to the board you can not even sit for the exam unless it is an approved school. Unless you want to move to California, that is the only Acception. I argued with a advisor about this for 2 hours when she finally admited that they are not approved and you can only get your license in CA. Check out rip off report. Other students have wasted time and thousands of dollars on degrees that are worthless. Thank God i have un-enrolled myself before it was too late. Contacted FASFA and Direct loans to stop payment.
