So far-so good

I've been reading through all of the reviews for Kaplan and when it comes down to it, most everyone is complaining about the Financial Aid department. I will say in my own experience that FA is a hassle, but it's a hassle with every school. Everyone has to realize that this is federally funded money. It's not like the school is giving out cash for you to attend, they have a chain of command they ...

Find the right match...
December 13, 2011
Okay, I have read amazing reviews that sware on the standards of Kaplan and I have read reviews that make Kaplan out to be the school from hell. Honestly, Kaplan is just another University, no better or worse. It is important that people remember that you have to find the right match in a school for yourself. Maybe an online school isn't the right match for you, or maybe it is just Kaplan is not ...

Poor Service
September 27, 2011
This is my second year at Kaplan, and when I first started the staff was very helpful in seeing that everything went smooth, but the longer your in attendance the assistance and support reduces quickly. I have had major problem with the financial aid department, they are very slow to mail out your stipens, and at this point I have been unable to get a straight answer about the schools policies regarding financial aid, and ...

Wonderful University!

When I first called Kaplan University, I knew they would be my final choice for furthering my education. They made the admission process so easy. They also helped me pick the right degree and classes. Everything went so smoothly. They also helped with financial aid assistance, sending my books on time as well as providing great professors(well, all except one). The seminars are live and students can hear the professors speak. They have an excellent ...

Unsatisfactory

I have been attending Kaplan online for almost three years now. I am enrolled in the Psychology program. When I first started they were rated #1 in the nation and had the cheapest prices of school. It was a good school at first until I started to review my account. I was told when I enrolled that I would recieve 93 transfer credits for having an associates degree and that my program was only 180 ...

WORSE SCHOOL & UNPROFESSIONALISM
March 1, 2011
Kaplan University was the worse school I have ever attended so I transferred and they were giving me the run around because of it. U get all the attention in the world and everyone is so helpful but then after you're enrolled, you don't get a response to emails and no1 on the phone can assist u, IF u get an answer after holding for hours. They took forever processing my withdrawal and didn't want ...

Classes sufficient, financial aid = nightmare
February 26, 2011
Academics: the course work is definitely time consuming. I have been at Kaplan for 3 yrs and have written an incredible amount of papers. I attended Michigan State University for a while and did not nearly do as much work. Many people have talked about the transfer credit possibility and as with any school (online or campus based) many credits do not transfer. Penn state university has a tool that you can use to see ...

I am a psychology student at Kaplan University. I have been enrolled for a year and I have had a great experience. Every department has been very helpful, I will recommend Kaplan to anyone who was inquiring about distance learning.

Hey Alisha! I just posted a comment that you are free to read, but I wanted to let you know that I haven't had ANY problems with Kaplans financial aid, they have been absolutely wonderful. Obviously the process of actually enrolling it a pain in the behind because everything has to be faxed or scanned/emailed, which was definitely frustrating, but thats just the cards your dealt with an online school.

If you have any questions about anything, feel free to email me at krystamwilley@gmail.com Or facebook message me! :) Have a great night and good luck making your decisions :)

I decided to go to Kaplan after reading review after review of different online schools, and I have to say I couldn't be happier! I absolutely love everything about it, and I have not had any problems with ANY part of the schooling process and I have been there for four terms now. The people are super friendly and are actually real people that will have a conversation with you, not just bs over the phone. The lady who enrolled me ended up calling me a few weeks into the term to see how I was doing. Not to mention the AMAZING part that books are included in tuition, that was almost enough to pull me in! Lol.

I wish I knew what to do. I want to pursue my Bachelor of Science in Psychology - Applied Behavioral Anaylsis. I am a hard worker and love to learn but I am not sure what online college to go to. I want a education to be proud of and find a great job with. Out of all these posts, what I am worried about the most is Financial Aid. I started to apply with the college and felt rushed to enroll. I am not ready to enroll. Just trying to find my options. The gentleman I talked to in Financial Aid did seem a little disorganized. Almost like he was new to the job or just a temp. This worries me especially after reading these reviews and my coversation with the Financial Aid Officer. If anyone has advice please let me know. So far I have narrowed it down to Kaplan or Baker College. Both colleges have mixed reviews and I don't know what to do? Email me if you can help at bmc-alisha@clear.net. I came from a great bricks and morter school with my Associates of Applied Science in OTA. So hopefully I can find the same sucess online to earn my bachelors. Thanks!

I am a current student at Kaplan and must say that I agree about the finacial aid thing, but the rest I dont. As one review stated they went to Kaplan and then went to Boston University for the Masters degree. I dont know how much more you need to prove that this is a real school. Then to top everything off most schools are going to online classes to help increase the size of enrolment plus most of everything that is teached can be done online. Wake up and smell the future people and do your research.

You say that online schools dont have a good rep. because your not sitting in the classroom. What if your poor like me and have to work to support your family? I dont have time to sit in a classroom or live on campus. Who does anymore with the economy the way it is?

I have to say Kaplan was the launching pad for me to go on to the Master's Program at Boston University. For those of you that had bad experiences, you might want to re-think your reasons for higher learning, because the desire to achieve a degree anywhere is not a "magic carpet" ride. I did my research on Kaplan, and of course there are set-backs (they occur at other universities too), but overall I felt the courses were challenging and I did learn what was intended.

I am in my 5th term at Kaplan. I have had NONE of the other issues that other reviewers have had. I think my advisor is awesome and always willing to help point me in the right direction and I love the professors! You get out of it what you put into it.

Ive been enrolled with this school since November 2008. I work fulltime and wanted to stay away from communiting, at the time when gas was high. I looked into online classes, several friends were doing it. I have to say ive been having the worst experience ever. The classes were ok to learn from, but when it came to taking the tests, the questions that were on it, I was never taught. Now as for financial aide-thaty a complete joke. Im suppose to get the student living expense check every term, and now im find out i owe money? it went from 323 now up to 508!and this is just begining. ive been on the phone for 8 hrs the other day and on hold now for over 2hrs trying to get ahold a living breathing person. Im finishing up term and then transfering my credits, i ahve more than enough. if i wanted to pay for a diploma mill couese, i would have when on ebay
