The online MBA Degree from Marylhurst University is exactly what you would expect from an online University. You are required to be online "x" number of days as well as post a minimum number of posts/reply's. The course material is useful and relevant and the professors, for the most part, are knowledgeable and subject experts. There were a few professors who seemed as if they were there simply to collect a paycheck. As an online student you are pretty much on your own. You are assigned an advisor, but they were of very little help. However, as an adult with a college degree this should not be so much of an issue. If you can't navigate through a masters program with little assistance I'm not sure you should be getting one. All-in-all, the program is decent. There is certainly room for improvement, but the knowledge you gain is applicable to real life.

Online Real Estate Program is a joke! Frankly, they just want adult students to get into their school in order to get cash! Jealous middle-aged female professors will fail you due to personal bias.

Great online business program

I currently am going to this program and am very happy with the decision to attend Marylhurst. The academics have been challenging but do-able. The support from the advisors has been wonderful. I started this program in 2009 and took a year off and then restarted. Everyone at the university has been helpful, and the experience is much better than the brick and mortar schools I attended before where I was treated like a number. The teachers have been good, some of them amazing. An unexpected bonus is the other students have also been very supportive. I highly recommend this program to other working adults. Now that I have come here, there is no way that I would consider going to a regular university. By the way, I also work full time working mom with 3 kids.

Adult/Online BEWARE!

BA/BS Online Degree Completion Program - June 15, 2011

Adult online students BEWARE! From admissions on, this school ignores you, then lose track of you and make you jump through ridiculous hoops and really do not care if you attend or not. At almost every step, they favor campus students, which in all fairness, maybe if one could attend campus, it may not be a bad experience… but it is an online nightmare! • They assign an advisor, WHO WILL IGNORE YOU if you cannot see them on campus. As an ONLINE student, is it not reasonable to expect an email from your advisor? • When you do speak with someone, they adopt an attitude of “its not my department, I cannot help you, talk to your advisor” (see above). • You, the student, have to pay for a mandatory “fluff” 3 credit course ($1,200+/-) for an orientation to the school and to read about its history- RIP OFF!!! • Yes, in an online school, you have to pay $30 to $100 for school approval for proof that you have the ability to take an online class, duh! • There are instructors that ‘teach’ by stating: “read chapters 1- 3 in the text and do odd problems” –If you need ‘instruction’, you may not get it! Why on earth should a student pay $400 per credit AND have to pay a tutor to learn the material? • Finally, for better or worse, students and ESPECIALLY PARENTS should be aware of the LIBERAL ARTS concentration for the institution. Does a $1,200 Horror Film Studies course make sense?
