I've had a good experience at TUI. The method of instruction it uses forces students to research and find current and relevant information. I like the fact that they put more emphasis on being able to comprehend and articulate knowledge through writing than on memorizing answers for a test.

Some negative postings make it seem like the only good colleges are those in which professors make things complicated or where you have to set yourself back financially. I am skeptical of people who believe that high cost and difficulty makes for good learning. A sign of intelligence in my opinion is being able to find the simplest and most effective means to reach goals.

I am now on my final class to earn a bachelor's from TUI. I have gone to a traditional college as well. The instruction I got at TUI has been excellent. It is designed for self motivated individuals who know how to find answers.

A university's reputation is built by its alumni. The great schools out there are great because those who graduated did great things in the world. The school is still relatively new. I am confident that as TUI becomes more established, the alumni it produces will add to the school's reputation.

I am a firm believer that success comes from hard work, character and the ability to seize opportunities regardless of the universty you go to.

This school is rapidly becoming the 'ivy league' of online universities. I was very challenged in every class, and learned an immense amount of information. I compared syllabi with other institutions (brick and mortar) and found the information was comprabable, if not more extensive. Great faculty, professional, and there for you. I like the stringent requirements they place on things. It doesn't feel like other on-lines schools.

Do you want a degree, or do you want to learn?

I just completed my MBA. As a military person you cannot beat the tuition. I earned a regionally accredited graduate degree with no out-of-pocket expense. As with most things in life you get what you pay for and there is no free lunch. Facilitator feedback was minimal if at all and I always got A's although I know my papers were not "A" quality. Administrative support is very minimal. Material for the class is subpar and consists of CD's and web downloads (no book expenses is a plus but the quality is abysmal). A handful of resident employees design the curriculum and adjuncts facilitate, if you want to call it that. Much of the material provided in the course is outdated, although I must admit that fundamental business concepts do not change. You may find yourself repeating a lot of the information throughout the program. They like to hang their hat on WASC accreditation, however that is a function of the school's locale not its quality. Bottom line, I love online education. I have only completed one year of school on the ground. All of my degrees were completed with an online component. There is what online learning could be and then there is what we currently have. In order to compete with brick and mortar institutions, online concerns have to pick up the quality and quit trying to save a buck here and there to enhance profits. That is where I feel TUI is weak. If you just need a regionally accredited graduate degree for advancement, this school is for you. If you want to be held to high academic standards and work for your degree, pass this one up. I requested a degree conferral letter and the one that the college provided looked like a third grader wrote it. My follow on institution would not accept it and made me wait for the degree to finalize.

I cannot say enough great things about this phenomenal institution. All of my questions were answered within 24 hours, the material is challenging, professors are accomodating and it has an ALL DOCTORATE staff, plus it is WASC accredited (the hardest regional accreditation). It is in the process of attaining its AACSB accreditation as well. Fantastic.

The financial aid department is a NIGHTMARE. You have to send things over and over and over and when you try to email someone to get some sort of an answer you never get an email back or a call back. No one seems to know what they are doing. And to be honest I barely had to work at writing papers and got A's. I like the way the modules were set up and that's about it. Not worth it! Go somewhere else.

I completed my Ph.D. in 2007. The course work required a great deal of research, synthesis and writing. Doctoral level work requires far more independence and rigor than masters level work. The dissertation is written by the student as proof thay can produce independent high-quality research. It was clear to me that my dissertation committee was not there to hold my hand, but rather was there to challenge the quality of my work and prepare me for the dissertation defense. I highly recommend Touro for quality and value.

TUI is an Excellent School! Coursework is more strenuous then the campus courses I took at Georgia Military college or distance classes I took at Thomas Edison State College.

I finished my BSBA in 2007 and I'm currently in their MAED program as I will be doing the troops to teachers program when I retire.

WARNING!!!!
There is a good amount of research for each paper. You have to write two papers of various lengths that are due every two weeks.

At TUI University one can expect to search the online libraries for much of the material. One will have to write thought provoking papers versus taking the traditional exams. But that's the point. I was not spoon fed, and I got out of it exactly what I needed. So if you are looking at taking a test at the end of the course this college is not for you!!

As long as you like writing papers and doing research then TUI University is a great university. I know that my writing has improved since my professor gave me great feedback so I was enabled to improve. That being said, I think that TUI is a very good value for the money.

I recommend TUI to anyone looking for an online education. TUI is not perfect, but in all fairness, I think benefits outweigh the downfalls.

After reading all of the attached views, I have found truth in many of the claims (both positive and negative). TUI is currently the only online university that is accredited by the Western Association of Schools & Colleges. (Same accreditation as UCLA or Berkeley, for that matter) TUI has a great price point in comparison to many other universities. The due dates are somewhat flexible and the professors are always eager to help.

With that said, the material is not always up to date, but it is improving. I took a Java class over a year ago and failed because of similar reasons that someone else mentioned. The course was not setting anyone up for success, it was confusing, difficult to comprehend, and had a horrible work flow. Not to mention the share of dead links is highly frustrating.

With that said, a year later I have since re-taken some courses and TUI has made a very strong effort for improving their curriculum. The courses seem to all be in the process of rewrites and this time around they make sense. TUI has set up online material so that problems like dead links can be quickly corrected, and furthermore the assignments (for the most part) deal with relative studies.

I think choosing TUI is great choice, but in doing so you must be ready for a different approach to learning, and understand the difficulties that come with an online education. Graduating from TUI takes strong willpower and solid writing skills.

I have to tell you, I was very hesitant to get my online degree, because of fear of falling for a "diploma mill". I got my AA from Thomas Edison State College in Trenton, NJ and then decided on TUIU because of the flexibility it offered. If you think the workload is easy, think again. I loved the faculty as well as the student body. I am so excited that I finished my BSBA and I will continue towards my MBA also at TUI this fall. I did my research and one of the number one priorities for me was that the school HAD to be REGIONALLY ACCREDITED, which TUI is. Aside from the name, which I agree is cheesy, TUI University is the best choice for online schooling that I ever made. If you have specific ??'s about the school email me at navcruitatl1@yahoo.com. I recommend TUIU to EVERYONE!

I just completed my first class toward a Emergency and Disaster Management Grad Certificate. This summer I registered for two more classes. After completing Issues in Terrorism, I'm ready for my summer session to begin. My classmates made inciteful comments during the online discussions. They all seemed to have different levels of experience from military to civilian in the health care industry. Since I'm specializing in Terrorism I believe this along with my experience is gonna put me in a great position to get a job as an EM analyst or trainer. TUI is a top notched school.

Along with that the courses were writing intensive which suite me fine. I started at Touro in 2006 and completed my BS in Health Sciences while deployed. The school was very helpful in the TA and GI Bill process. After completing my BS I went on to their MS program. The programs are writing extensive but informative and the course material is the best not to mention reasonable tuition and their military discount program. I also completed a BS with a well-konown residency based university but my Touro degree was most useful for job purposes. Only thing I dislike is the name change.

I just started here at TUI and I would have to say that the program is not to bad. I have attended to other regional accredited degree programs for graduate studies. The reason I move over to TUI was due to cost! I am active duty and attending TUI is cost effective for my family and me.

There are no textbooks for the courses. Therefore, you cannot build up a library of resources. Your courses are via CD-rom.

There are no test!

There is a good amount of research for each paper. You have to write two papers of various lengths that are due every two weeks. This is difficult for some but for others this is a nice way to complete work.

Yes, some of the links they provide are dead. However, they tell you that you are to research the information and provide updated information. Therefore, the courses stay up to date. In addition, you are still responsible to find update information.

As long as you like writing papers and doing research then TUI University is a great university. I know that my writing is improving every time I submit a paper. My Professor has given me great feedback and this helps me to improve.

Overall, I would recommend the University to other students especially military student because of the cost effectiveness.

I am sorry, but I have NOTHING good to say about this university. After completion of my second semester will try my luck with "CAPELLA". This university uses ONLY out dated links for their teaching material and some of them were dead links. Two times I had to notify the prof./institution that the links were dead.

The CSC 113 course is a joke and can ONLY be taken if one has prior programming experience!! Please do not believe them if they tell you otherwise! Even though I have a 4.0 GPA I do not understand the material that I have read, nor do I have the time to understand it, because I pace at which we are suppose to hand in our Modules (every 2 weeks) is to short for the material given to us. The professors are a joke also. Three times now I have ask for specific help. I even took time to color code my code that I wanted the professor to correct and he just gave me a general answer back without addressing my question, which was a waste of my time. It does not help if the professors answer your questions fast, if they do not look at the contents. I wrote what in my mind should have been a 3.0, because I did not have the time to correctly hand in my assignment, but they gave me a 4.0 and I did not understand the half of what I did.

I wonder if somebody that works with TUI wrote the good comments about their school in the hopes to sucker some students in. The bottom line is that your education is an investment for life and it should be taking seriously by an institution that at least provides you with some of their own material from their own professors and just some links that they found that come close to the subject they want to teach. I found more useful information over the subjects they wanted to teach me in youtube! I expected more from a Regional accredited university and you should to!

I will not recommend TUI for doctoral level studies. The school can teach very well and you can learn something useful. However, their dissertation support is dismal at best. They often feel you are disturbing them when you call for assistance. They expect you to register session after session post coursework phase and they only respond once every session if any. The support level for their PhD program is shameful.

I will not hesitate to recommend the school for Bachelors and Masters level work. For doctoral level work NO unless you want to work alone, get frustrated and possibly quit. At that time, your money is gone. I have two friends there now and they do not get support from their committee or the school. TUI needs to improve in their dissertation support. Despite what they say on their web site, the support level for dissertation is probably one of the worst any where.

TUI is not a university for the lazy, undisciplined or faint of heart. As a few fellow posters pointed it, it starts out easy, but by the last few papers you are really getting your moxy's worth, and whether or not you learn anything depends entirely on you.

I decided on TUI after having horrible experiences with AMU and UOP,as a matter of fact I almost gave up entirely on online institutions, until a colleague mentioned TUI, and I have never looked back or regretted my decision to attend.

Online colleges are alot like life. They are about choices. Some choices will take you further than you want to go. Keep you longer than you want to stay and cost you more than you want to pay. So you have to choose wisely.

I am extremely satisfied with my degree program at TUI (hate the name BTW). Unlike a previous poster's experience, I use the topics I have learned on a daily basis in management. I found the areas of marketing and finance particularly challenging (as did many of my colleagues). This school just as challenging as Florida State University where I recieved my undergraduate degree. Did I have to search the online libraries for much of the material? YES. Did I have to write thought provoking papers versus taking the traditional exams? YES...But that's the point. I was not spoon fed, and I got out of it exactly what I needed. The flexibility of working anytime and anywhere far outweighed the downsides of an online program, and TUI's faculty exceeded my expectations. I think that too many times, really naiive people seek a definitive and direct connection between their scholastic world and the real working world without realizing that the concepts and development of critical thinking are what are truly important. I will recommend TUI to anyone who belives an in-residence program will not mee their needs.

TUI University is the most educational online college. The instructors really promote learning and are committed to excellence. All of my instructors were committed to my excellence and were very hard on my assignments at the Master's level. I completed my Bachelor's degree with Touro when it was 'International' and they were a little less strict on the grading but overall committed to my education. The instructors that I had in the BSHS program became my mentors--particularly Dr. Legg and Dr. Rhynders. When I enrolled in the MSHS program after graduation they were right there for me. They guided me through the program, research, and information dissemination. They also taught me how to compose my papers and synthesize my research. They also spent their personal time advising me on the CHES exam and how to apply my education to pass the exam. I decided not to buy the study guide for the national certification and instead focused on the teachings, advice, and study material they personally wrote for me IN MY STYLE OF LEARNING. I passed the exam with a 93% out of 100%. We are still friends and they both are encouraging me to enroll in the Ph.D. program. Also, Dr. Neumann sends me inquiry emails about my success and lifestyle changes.

I am a military spouse and they gave me a big discount on my courses. Ms. Kaing in FA also walked me through all funding sources every semester. They were sure to mail me all documentation with postage paid envelopes. They also always followed up with me concerning due dates, paperwork, and FAFSA.

By no means is anything perfect, but Touro toes the line and they are invested in their students and education. They faculty and staff are all very educated and invested in the university's success. I did not graduate on time due to an instructor knowing my potential and demanding it of me. He refused to accept anything less than excellence and actually failed me! I had to re-take the course and you had better believed I did the work and was rewarded. I have since landed my dream job as a Community Health Executive Director and it is fabulous. I am rewarded every single day by what I do and Touro University is responsible for helping me to achieve my educational goals. Hats off TUI!!

I entered the doctoral program after completing bachelors and masters degrees at very large, well known, in-residence schools. I had been working in my profession for 4-5 years, and still had the GI bill to use, but no local programs that were in my specialty.

At the time I enrolled, Touro was the only college/university with a fully accredited PhD that could be pursued regardless of where I lived. I did classes part time until I was ready to do my dissertation, so it took me many years to finish. To those considering TUI University, here are some things to consider.

You have to be focused. It is easy to get behind if you don't keep track of the deadlines. They do their best to stay in touch, but keep in mind you are geographically isolated from the faculty members and other students because of the type of learning environment. Like all classes, you get out of them what you put into them.

The dissertation phase is very stressful, because a) you are isolated as before, doing something much more rigorous than a senior paper or a master's thesis; b) they expect a great deal from you because this program is still in its (relative) infancy, and they want it to continue to become more respectable and acceptable. They will hammer you (as kindly as possible) to make sure that when your dissertation goes to defend and then on to UMI/Proquest it will make you, them, and Touro look good. Which is as it should be, really.

The "owners" changed hands while I was finishing the dissertation, so I don't know how "TUI University" will be different from "Touro University International", but I doubt it will differ much from what I have seen.

It really was a long hard road. But I did learn what I asked to be taught, and it was worth every penny.

I am in my second year of the International Health Science PhD program, after getting an MS from a different on-line institution. Since I'm not in the military, my classes cost a LOT, and the price just went way up. But regardless of the cost, I am concerned that this program doesn't offer the amount of mentorship or collaborative experience/support that my MS program provided. At a PhD level, I find this very frustrating and a major drawback to TUI. Most of the classes have been interesting, but I easily make "A"s even when I don't really understand the information. This concerns me since I'll have my orals coming up and I also need to know how to apply the information during my dissertation work. Although I like the flexibility of the program, I would probably go to a brick/mortar school if there was something in my area. Since there isn't, I'm settling for TUI.

I am half way throught the MBA program with TUI University. I think that the flexibility of this program is unparalleled compared to other brick and mortar and online schools. I do agree that their grading is a little on the easy side, but at the same time, I have to say that the way that the classes are structured forces you to learn a great deal. I know I have learned much while enrolled. I went to Baylor University for my undergrad and compared to TUI I would say that Baylor is a better institution education wise. However, when you compare almost $30,000 a year to about $9750 a year TUI blows other institutions out of the water. I also believe that TUI is a better institution than some state schools do to the fact that I knew people at the University of Texas that would only go to 3 classes a semester in a course and still recieve B's and A's.

It also stands to says that unless you are graduating from an ivy league or other prestigious school, most employers don't care where you come from as long as you have a degree from an accredited institution.

That being said, I think that TUI is a very good value for the money. Now if they would just change their name to something that doesn't sound like a diploma mill everything would be perfect.

I am very happy that I chose TUIU for my PhD. I was nervous that it would be diploma-mill-ish but they really make you work and I have learned a lot. It is very self-regulated and requires a lot of research. They take it seriously and it is a very, very high quality program. I'm surprised that more people don't know about this program. It's very well structured and organized. Heavy emphasis on academics...moreso than other institutions that I have studied with.

The excellent challenge

I have gone to brick and mortar schools but have learned and retained much more in this learning environment. While convienent and affordable, it is also challenging but in no way overbearing. I have gone back for my MAED and am applying for the Doctorate program. This has been the best learning experience I have come across. With being in the Army the delivery method is helpful and the faculty understands the plight of the military today.

TUI is great. I have been attending for a year now and find it challenging yet rewarding. If you do not like to write and research then this is not the college for you. If you love reading and doing research you will be okay. Keep up with assignments and don't fall behind. I like my experience so far.

I love it.......

I was before with UMUC and didn't like it because of the lack of consideration they have toward military members. I decided to take classes with Touro and haven't had no complaints with them in the year that I've been with them. Courses are a little bit expensive, but TUI makes up for it by giving military members military discounts and up to 2 free classes. I love them!

I have completed my BSBA and MBA with TUI and they are very good. I have attended many colleges while in the military but have had never seen a school so committed to their students as TUI. Outstanding school!

This is my fifth term with TUI and I have to say overall it’s a good school, and I have attained new knowledge because of the classes I have participated in. I also have taken classes at other institutions and have to say that over all it’s on par with most online schools. Are they easy graders I think they could be tougher but the truth of the matter is most adult schools go easy on the grades because they take into account life experiences, family life etc. TUI is properly accredited by WACS, this is a regional accrediting agency and this type of regional accreditation is highly prized by colleges. A regionally accredited degree can be transferred to almost any school, and if your grades and GRE’s are good enough you will be able to get into a good grad school. One last note if your looking for a Yale, Harvard, NYU or any other ivy league education TUI might not be for you, but last time I checked Yale didn’t offer classes for $750.00 each nor do they offer online degrees that fit within an busy adults lifestyle.

TUI Excellent choice!
