Universal Life Church Seminary
August 21, 2008
I came across the ULC Seminary by accident on the Internet and have been most impressed by it. Clearly, if one is seeking qualifications to assist one in gaining employment or preferment, then it is not the route to follow ( and, surely, there are few people who are likely ...

ULC Seminary Top Notch
November 11, 2007
The Universal Life Church Seminary is a solid avenue for students seeking religious education without the paradigm of denominational doctrine coloring the lessons.

The ULC seminary is unaccredited. If you are intested in the seminary, it is not necessary graduate from an accredited school. However, "credits" from ULC will not transfer. There are regionally and nationally accredited distance learning schools. Please research the chea website ( www.chea.org ) or call them for information on distance learning schools that offer degrees in the ministry. These accredited degrees will definitely be accepted if you decide to work outside of the ministry, enroll in other disciplines, and/or apply for teaching positions at colleges and universities. Yes, you may focus on wicca at an accredited university. Wicca has elements of chrisitanity and may be the focus of your thesis or dissertation.

DEGREE MILL!!!!

ULC (not to be confused with the group calling itself ULC Monastery or "The Monastery"....not the original church by the way) seems to offer very reasonably priced programs. Degree mill? Well, some awards require no study and some do. From what I can see ULC opens doors for people (even if it is nothing more than developing one's own self confidence) that may otherwise be shut....due to financial or other social restrictions.

If ULC Seminary was a Degree Mill, the State of California would not approve it. While several of their programs do not require any extensive study (M.Div/D.Div), this is primarily because of the actual academic status of those degrees. Specifically, both the M.Div and D.Div degrees could be considered issued "Jure Dignitatis" in respect for the position of being a minister.

Degree Mill!!!

The ULC is not accredited by any governed sanctioned agency, nor does it intend to be. The courses they provide for thier ministers are training to help them in their ministry. The titles are honorary in nature, just like the D.D. my minister has from PTS, even though he only finished the 8th grade. Degree mill, not quite. They make no pretense about the degrees being anything but unaccredited religious degrees, which, by the way, are exempt from accredidation in 22 states.

DEGREE MILL!!!

Degree Mill? I really do not believe so. Its a great way to study what I believe to be high quality courses without someone trying to shove dogma down ones throat. People can find their own path with out needing to repeat ideas and viewpoints held as sacred within other universities and colleges. I have found having to lie to pass some courses by saying I believe in something I do not dishonest but a neccessary pattern to pass many course. The ULC Seminary is really great and I value it a lot. For me, that is the only honest accreditation that really matters.
