Description

A program geared for the student who has a master`s degree in nursing, but wishes to become prepared in one of two advanced practice nursing specialties: nurse practitioner (NP) or nurse-midwife (NM). The nurse practitioner specialty is subdivided further into options preparing the family nurse practitioner (FNP), occupational health nurse practitioner (OHNP), pediatric nurse practitioner (PNP), and acute care nurse practitioner (ACNP). Four courses have been identified as core courses required for students regardless of specialty: NUSC 528 - Health, Environment and Systems; NUSC 529 - Issues of Advanced Practice in Nursing; NUSC 530 - Physiologic Basis of Nursing Practice Across the Lifespan; and NUSC 531 - Pharmaceutical Intervention in Advanced Practice Nursing. These courses are fully or partially online. A fifth course, specific to the Family Nurse Practitioner option, NUPH 524 - Primary Care Nursing of Acute and Chronic Disorders 1, is also delivered online.
