The Master of Science in Computer Systems Management provides educational opportunities to information professionals for the 21st century, as the nation moves from an economy of stand-alone companies to interdependent enterprises connected by the products of a global information infrastructure. The program serves the needs of programmers, developers, engineers, and other knowledge workers who aspire to move upward into technical management positions. The emphasis is on moving the results of technology research from the laboratory to business development, defining the role of information literacy in decision making, and exploiting information technologies for productivity and competitiveness. The program is rich in real-life laboratory assignments and case studies. All students are required to have, or have access to, a computer and a modem capable of supporting modern software to complete their degree program.Students may choose one of four specialty tracks:Applied Computer Systems, Database Systems Technologies, Information Resources Management, Software Development Management.

I originally attended the University of Maryland Asian Division while stationed aboard Okinawa and attended classes on site. It was towards the end of my bachelor degree program that I first tried online courses via Web Tycho. I am a current UMUC Grad student (online only) and I must say that I am impressed with their program. The coursework is very rigorous, in retrospect to my counterparts who attend other colleges. The faculty is knowledgeable and supportive. UMUC definitely lives up to the University of Maryland system standards. My degree earned will be well worth it.
