Watch out for this one folks... this is not the U of Maryland of the Terps but UMUC. I have many military students coming back from overseas with horror stories of classes from this uni.

UMUC is the evening school for non-traditional students for UMCP (the main University of Maryland campus). Just like any other school in the University of MD system, it is its own university. It has the University of MD system standing behind it.
I have taken a few courses here, in person and online. It is a 4 year state university, not a for profit business like so many online schools. It has all the advantages and disadvantages that brings- it is big with some administrative snafus, it has a lot of options, and it is a good school.
If they had an online or on campus evening MA in psychology or counseling I'd go there in an instant.

A friend of mine graduated from there and printed on the degree is your area of study and "University of Maryland-University College".

It will say University of Maryland-University College. It is a seperate school from U of Maryland. You can lose your job if you pretend it is from the real Maryland.
