The UMUC Master of Business Administration (MBA) is designed for working professionals from a wide range of backgrounds who wish to study part-time to advance or enhance their business careers. The degree program consists of one 1-credit orientation course and seven 6-credit seminars for a total of 43 credits. The program can be completed in 32 months.Students can choose to take the MBA program entirely online, or they can choose to take a combination of online delivery with face-to-face sessions. In addition, Executive Programs offers an accelerated MBA in an alternating face-to-face and online format. All courses in the 100% online and the combination online and face-to-face MBA programs will be 14 weeks long with 3 weeks off in between semesters.The UMUC MBA is designed to be interdisciplinary, integrated, and applied, exploring organizational and management processes in the context of a global business environment. Embedded in the seminars are five key themes:(1) the manager as a leader (2) the manager as an ethical decision maker (3) the impact of technology on organizations (4) the organization as a global enterprise (5) the importance of innovation to the success of organizationsThe objectives of the program are to explore the evolving structure of business activity, to blend leadership with change management, to better value an organization's intellectual assets, to merge product development with entrepreneurship, and to cultivate new approaches to measuring the overall performance of organizations. Students will also receive a solid foundation in the operations and finance of running a business. The program combines current management theory and relevant research with the real-world experiences of students to address the major competitive challenges of the 21st century.
