I am always receiving HELP from my academic and financial advisers
April 20, 2011
I am finishing my first year with University of Phoenix and I have had a wonderful experience. When ever I call either one of my advisers they either call or email me within 24 hours. I have had no problems with my tuition being paid. I had to take a break and than started back into my classes. NO ONE hounded me for money nor did I get charged for those two classes. For me ...

UoP is great if you can hack it!
March 28, 2011
It seems to me that the people that are complaining about UoP are doing so because the work is harder than they thought it would be. The instructors at UoP are well educated in the subjects they teach. The counselors are great both my financial counselor and my academic counselor are available to help during business hours and when ever I have left a message for them they call me back within 24 hours. The ...

Great school! I attended many years ago, and found it to be awesome. I found it to be more challenging once I got into the schol than I had percieved it would be. Yes, we had some bottom feeders, who would get with the team and continually not finish their portion of the assignments, but we also had some great, hardworking tema members too. I found this school to be a great value, but you ...

I started my degree in August of 2008. I am 9 weeks away from graduating with my associates. I have read all the comments and reviews in here and would like to add. I was a single mother and had to work full time, so online school was my best route. I am all in all happy with the time I spent at UOP. Let me tell you the bad, then the good. I love ...

Wow! I love it at UoP!
November 11, 2010
Wow! I love UoP! It's hard work. You have to post twice a week in order to be counted for "attendance". Then you have to make 2 posts, 4 days a week for "participation". the participation is difficult. You cannot just say "I agree", you really have to contribute to your discussion. My instructors chime in often and give their opinions, facts, and keep the discussions going. I have learned a great deal from UoP ...

Disappointed...Totally!
October 4, 2010
ISSUE #1: Was earning a 3.5 average with Axia and then I submitted a final paper in MS Word as I've always done and it mysteriously did not go through. Wow.... but I submitted homework all week WITH attachments from MS word that transmitted just fine.....hmmmmmm would it have anything to do with the fact that I discussed this non-challenging course to my academic counselor two days before? I can't help but to think that ...

I love U of P so far, it's been one year and I have never had a problem. I have read a lot of negative stuff on here but I have called 3 universities in California that I plan to transfer to for my BA and they take most of the credits. I'm ok with that. I have called several companies that i would like to work for once I am done, and they all said off course they would accept a degree from U of P. Everyones experience is different but for me so far it's working out great.

I will soon be finishing my first two classes at UoP towards my AA in psychology. My classes are fine, but one teacher is great, and the other doesn't really do much.
My biggest problem so far is my financial aid. For some reason, I am enrolled, my loan has been applied for... but my FASFA hasn't gone through yet. Apparently it's at it's "last stop" before approval. So what happens if it gets denied? Why was I allowed to start classes before my financial aid was approved?! I'm scared that I will be paying out of pocket... with no money to throw towards it.

and, I'm also a bit scared about all of the negative remarks I've read on here. I'm a great student, A's in both classes... so I'm not worried about the academic part (which is actually fairly challenging in one class, btw), I'm worried about all of the hoops and stuff that people are having to jump through.

I am almost done with UOP with a associates degree in Businss Managementand with a concentration in Hospitality Management. I can tell you do not attend there. The stupid Financial aid people never reach untill it is 6 months later and the tuition is high. I am not saying that the online environment sucks it is just the people who run the college. I did not know that they were a FOR PROFIT college till now and next year I will not be with them I am going to another college.

I just finnished my AA degree program and am relieved it is over with. My expieriance at UoP has been great, considering I am a stay at home mother of 3 young children. I also get discounted tuition becuase I am a military spouse. I don't think that the price I paid was bad but I can see were alot of you are saying that Uop is highly expensive...because it really is if you pay full tuition. All of my instructers have been great, as well as my enrollment, academic, and financial counselors. I have had the same counselors throughout my entire degree program.

I am a recent graduate of the University of Phoenix. I started several years and have taken my time, doing one, sometimes two courses at a time. I have truly enjoyed my education and feel that it has been a great experience. I went to a traditional school over 10 years ago, right out of high school and my experience with UOP tops that. As a working adult, I searched for a program that fit my needs, UOP was where my research led. I do plan on working on a MBA in the fall. Now are there some con's? Yes, and I will explain. I have never been harassed by UOP, as far as recruiting and all of that. My biggest problem was the changing counselors without my knowledge. Sometimes I would keep the same counselor for months or even a year or more, but then I would two or three. That was an issue for me because when I needed an answer I didn't know where to turn. The instructors for the most part, pretty good. If I had questions, they answered them and all of them were well qualified for the positions they held. Many of them were business owners, authors, and all of them had Master's degree or Doctorate degrees. So, overall, I am very happy with my experience with UOP and proud of my degree in which I worked extremely hard for. I can't really complain about finances as my employer paid for it, but if someone thinks that is going to be a problem, then go somewhere else.

I go to U Of P and I havent had any problems with them, the teachers are good and the classes are good. I have recieved my schedule for my Bachelors and I don't have any classes that I have already taken with my associates degree. Any school with have its pros and cons but come on why make U of P out to be bad when they are a great school to go to.

I have attended and attained degrees from both traditional "brick and mortar" as well as U of P. Both were challenging and both have pros and cons. Is the U of P expensive? Yes it is expensive. Is the coursework a challenge? Depends on what you want out of the course. Some courses were a breeze while others were very tough. Is the online environment for every person? No it is not. If you are not a self starter and you have poor problem solving skills my advice is to avoid ALL online programs. You are setting yourself up for a major failure. Do my U of P credits transfer? The easy answer is it depends on the institution you are transferring into. I had no problems with my stuff but I did my homework. I made plenty of phone calls and maximized my available options. Does my employer recognize my U of P degree? Mine does but I am not an accountant. My advice is make sure you know what your employer is looking for. The U of P degree may not fit inside your employer’s box. There are “stigmas” attached to online degrees but that is shrinking. Additionally an employer wants dynamic employees so you have to be able to sell your skill set and your experience. How was the U of P financial aid and academic advisory teams? Mixed bag. There were good ones and bad ones. I did have two changes in my time with U of P but that is just how things in business are. My advice is stay on top of things. Never assume that everything will be handled automatically. Did U of P misrepresent their program to me in any way? No they did not. I asked plenty of questions and I stayed on top of things. How were the instructors? Mixed bag. Some were very good and some were terrible. For the most part they were competent and actively engaged with the students. Yes the school develops the curriculum but that is not entirely a bad thing. In my opinion this eliminates instructor bias or prejudice. I am paying to learn not to be indoctrinated. How was the overall experience? I have nothing negative to say about U of P other than its cost. I enjoyed the classes and I enjoyed the online environment. I did not have to watch my every word like I did in a traditional “brick and mortar.” I was able to express my opinions and thoughts freely without fear of reprisal from instructors. You get out of school what you put into it. I spent the same amount of time with my U of P course work as I did with a traditional "brick and mortar." My course of study did not require lab work so for me there was no real difference between online and traditional. The biggest thing is do your homework before you enroll. Know what you are getting yourself into. Do not expect a free ride and be prepared to work just like you would in real life.

Well for me UOP was a inexpensive way to educate myself, it is a self taught environment and it is what you pay for. Sorry for those who disagree but that's the reality, it is cheaper than most non and online programs and for good reasons. You are paying for information and thats it, but as child you went to school thinking it was free. Nothing in this life is,I regret signing up for school all together but I know now I have to finish it because I have taken out my loans and it is crucial that I finish. Some of the classes I have taken have been worth it and very educational I msde sure I got what I needed from them and that to me was and always will be the most important factor.

Don't believe the hype. My company pays UOP's VERY HIGH PRICES, so i enjoyed the classes and was cruising right along. Then, the first time I had a problem with a professor, I got absolutely no help. UOP doesnt care about you or your education. They simply want your money. They have absolutely NO customer service, your counselers change once a month so you have to introduce yourself to someone new every set of classes you take.

I will have completed my AA in Accounting from Axia College of the University of Phoenix on 7/26/2009. I have taken all 60 credits from UOPx in an on-line format. Initially I signed on to the BS in Business Admin with a focus on Information Systems to begin in August 2009.

Then I looked closer at the courses. For me, five classes in the bachelor program I had already taken as an Axia student. These courses had slightly different course numbers, however when I reviewed the course content, these bachelor classes were almost verbatim of my Axia courses. So I asked my enrollment advisor what was up...NO answer. It has been over four weeks and I have heard nothing from my advisor even after two follow-up emails. Trying to disengage myself and my financial aid from the the bachelor program is proving difficult.

That's when I began looking at other degree completion programs. I am seeing none of my classes (except Algebra) that begin with a (1) are transferring. So it looks like I will have to re-take 18 credits and then some to qualify for admission into the programs I am looking at.

I am distressed that my credits will not transfer as I felt the course content was difficult...especially Religion and Philosophy. However, the difference in cost between UOP and other schools appears to be significant. Even having to take additional classes at another school will still not cost as much as UOPx AND I have the added benefit of at least learning something new instead of paying for a rehash.

Since I plan on obtaining my Masters, I do not much care where I received my AA even though my AA will end up costing me 2x more than my bachelor.

Too bad the price is so high at UOP. I agree with the assessments of many who have posted here. A few of my instructors were excellent...the majority were ok...and some totally sucked. I did not enjoy spending time with student's that posted as if they were texting from a cell phone and struggled trying to meet the discussion requirements when many of the other students could not write a complete sentence.

I defend when challenged the on-line learning environment and the skill-set required to excel in such a program. My advice is to research research research...UOPx taught me very well how to do this task on-line.

A note to Marilene - look at not-for-profit schools. Many established colleges and universities are now offering on-line degree programs. Check out State schools. Nebraska has a few that are no less snubbed than UOPX. However, the costs for attending are WAY less and the degree program content look (on the surface at least) quite engaging and challenging.

I just signed up for UofP to get my AA to start in accounting and move up to the next level after this is completed. I've been doing all this for over 25 years so I thought I might as well get a degree in it. I start this Monday 4-27-09. I just got laid off and while looking for a new job in the legal field thought I would get some extra education. Now I'm reading all this stuff about U of P and you guys are scaring me. I have no money to pay for schooling. Before I applied I read that they are one of the least expensive online schools. Someone write something good so I can feel better, please :-(.

WOW is all I can say they basically lied to me about everything just to get me to attend. Now that I am almost done I have found out all the sneaky lies they told me.
