PLEASE READ..DONT BELIEVE WHAT THEY TELL YOU REGARDING FINANCIAL AID

After the UOP personal came to my workplace, talking to us in regards to how great their university is, I was intrigued. I have never though of college prior but the individuals assured me that with being a single parent I would qualify 100% for pell grants and would not have to pay the money back, NO LOANS. I went to the university to inquire further, and was advised due to my income, I would ...

Where's the education?
June 9, 2011
I give the education at UoP a one. It sounds extreme, but all I received was an expensive electronic textbook and a syllabus. The online school is completely without instruction, there is no "educating" going on except what the enthusiastic student gleans from the reading. Discussion questions are rarely "discussed" and when they are, the typical response from students is a cut and paste (and possibly rearranged) clip from a wiki of some type. Trying ...

Group projects not for me!
November 9, 2008
I completed 4 courses in the BA Accounting/Business Administration program. I received 3 "A's" and 1 "B". I did not like the group projects at all. I ended-up doing most of the work because of other group members that were slackers. You could not work at your own pace or on your own time when a project was due that week. (for each 5 week course, we had 4 learning team projects (a paper or ...

$50,000 in debt for a BS, Regretting it
December 22, 2006
I think UOP is a decent school, but from everything I am reading after the fact, there are ALOT of better and cheaper ones out there. The outlook express newsgroups they use are ancient technology and not very user friendly. I also think the courses are TOO accelerated to truly grasp and retain all the concepts even if you put in the work. I guess if fairness, it is accredited and allowed me to sit ...

University of Phoenix Online Program
August 3, 2006
To begin with, I wouldn't choose any other format for attending school in the future. I completed my BSB/Accounting degree at University of Phoenix (UOP) in November 2003. The Online format is a great way to learn, especially for busy adults working full-time. I was able to access my classroom through Outlook Express or the web from any computer at any time of day or night. I was able to schedule my studying at my ...

How can you deny that this is somthing good?

Once you move out of that 18-22 age group you have to keep going with your life and this school helps to have it all.

Many people struggle with simple things and they are able to solve much bigger problems. Some have to work and do school, etc there are so many factors that take place in our lives and a online school like this is what people need.

Do we honestly remember all the details when we come out of any school?

I have been to both and if i started with a school like UOP from the start I would of met my goals faster.

I finished 1.5 years at UoP - BSB Accounting. I sat and passed the CPA. I wish I had gone someplace else for the namesake - otherwise, the work was tough and I learned more than I did at a 4-year. I've done two degree programs, one at a traditional school and one at University of Phoenix.

I have been at UOP since January, and not only did anyone fail to tell me that they had "open enrollment", but no one told me that you could not kick someone off a team. I have suffered through two classes with ignorant, illiterate, bad spellers who have no command of grammatically correct english. I have forged complaints to both professors and academic counselors and haven't been able to obtain a straight answer or any action worthy of repeating. Open enrollment (I just discovered after 9 months) means that many of these students have never taken an SAT or ACT test. I am currently in a class with two people whose first language is not English, and have not endeavored to incorporate any reading comprehension or writing skills into their lives. I scored better than 93% on my verbal SAT. I am disgusted, disgruntled and looking for a private school in my area.

I took one class at the University of Phoenix and knew a) it wasn't for me b) is laughed at in the business world c) is WAY too expensive....scammer alert and d) the classes consume way more time and are not as convenient as the advisors make u think!! Especially not when working in groups and basing 30-60% of ur personal grade on group assignments! I had a horrible experience working in a group where a member turned in their portion of the assignment 7 hours late, another member plagiarized their whole portion and was asked to recite, then at the last minute the same member didnt show up to the final meeting to approve the final! At the last meeting we realized the member made up his references and I had to redo them again since he didn't even cite the right book! I don't have time to babysit or put up with people and their drama. Too much of the work is based on group work and face it the school is a joke. Get out when ur only a couple stacks in, don't pay ten of thousands before u realize there are cheaper online colleges out there that furture employers won't laugh at!!

I recently transferred from the UOP and if I were you I would get out soon. The classes were a joke it was like high school. The school is way too expensive your student loans will max out before you even graduate you will have to come out of pocket if you want to complete your degree. This school is a scam and should be shut down!! When looking at online colleges look at non-profit institutions, one that has an application process and does not accept 100% of students like UOP. I choose to transfer to Northeastern which I believe to be the best decision I have made for my future. The classes are extremely challenging and the school rates in the top tier. Northeastern is also accredited by the AACSB which is the highest level of accreditation any school can receive (for their accounting and business programs). The enrollment advisers are by no means pushy they will answer any questions you may have without begging you to enroll. If you are looking at the UOP please go elsewhere don't waste your time or money. If you are looking to obtain your business or accounting degree I would check out Northeastern University the curriculum is great.
