I decided to spend my summer taking two online classes through university of Phoenix. I felt this was a mistake. You need to be ready to type responses for 3 hours a day, read 2 hours a day, write formal papers each week, make formal observations in a classroom and interview professionals. My adviser said two courses wouldn't be to be bad, but I found it impossible to keep track of literally 10 assignments at the same time. I enjoyed the material but the work level is very high.

In addition I didn't find the courses to be very flexible. It is nonsense to require classroom observations during the summer time. I hated the idea of the learning groups.

I pay money because I want to learn from an expert. I don't feel like endlessly discussing things with eight 300 word responses required each week for each class.

I felt overwhelmed after one week, especially since I couldn't find the syllabus until after two days. It was buried on the class site in a difficult to find spot unless you already know where info is located.

I ended up dropping both classes after less than a week due to my frustrations. I didn't feel it was worth my entire summer to suffer for one course. I would reconsider if they offer the course in a traditional classroom locally.
