Introductory Computer Programming

Level: Certificate
Language: English

Description

Students obtain a solid foundation in programming fundamentals using their choice of Java (classroom program) or C and C++ (distance learning and UWTV formats), the programming languages of choice in application and system programming environments. This program covers basic computer programming skills and concepts; procedural and functional abstraction with simple built-in data type manipulation, modularity and encapsulation. Course material provides an excellent foundation to students who continue in more advanced computer science, computer engineering or other science degree programs. Students develop the basic ability to write, execute and debug programs. Courses have been developed and approved by the UW Department of Computer Science&Engineering, one of the top 10 computer science programs in the country. These credit courses - available in the evening on the UW campus in Seattle or through distance learning - are accessible to working adults. CSE 142 is also now available on UWTV. Students who complete this program earn nine University of Washington credits and a certificate.
