This eight-month program is intended for those involved in Web site production, design and maintenance who are interested in building a Web site infrastructure.Offered in a distance learning format. Uses a case study approach in applying principles to test scenarios. The coursework is platform neutral, with major differences between Windows NT and UNIX covered.The purpose of this certificate program is to provide skills and a fundamental body of knowledge necessary to function as a Web administrator. Participants learn the underlying principles for planning the overall back-end infrastructure of a business Web site, from the earliest planning stages to rolling out and managing the end result.Program is designed by an advisory board of experts in Web administration and UW faculty. Participants network online with Web professionals. Courses have been approved by the UW Computer Science&Engineering Department and UW Information School, top programs in the country. Completion of the program helps students prepare for the certification exam offered by the World Organization of Webmasters. The UW industry-recognized certificate is awarded upon successful completion of the program. Participants earn nine Continuing Education Units (CEUs) upon completion of the certificate program. Program Partners* Web Administration is one of four certificate programs developed by the University of Washington in partnership with Prentice Hall, the Public Broadcasting System (PBS), and the World Organization of Webmasters (WOW). Each of these leading organizations contributes unique strengths in support of the following UW Internet-related certificate programs: E-Commerce Management; Internet Programming; Web Consultant for Small Business; and Web Administration.Participants in these programs benefit from instructional materials that integrate textbooks, CD-ROMs, videos, and other tools. The curriculum helps students develop skills for the Internet business environment, prepare for certification exams, and meet other professional advancement goals.* This partnership is supported, in part, with funding by a U.S. Department of Education Learning Anywhere Anytime Partnerships (LAAP) grant through the Fund for the Improvement of Post-Secondary Education (FIPSE).
