Description
The Bachelor of Science in Community and Human Services with a concentration in Human Services Administration provides for study in the area of community and human services that focuses on the relationship of human needs to social conditions, emphasizing the identification and analysis of social and psychological problems and their solutions through management of the helping professions. Such studies lead to professional development in social work, urban planning, allied health, mental health, childcare, social policy and planning, and other related helping professions. Human-service professionals work in agencies providing administrative services to individuals and communities and to groups with special needs, such as children, families, the elderly and the handicapped. Others are also involved in community change or in the planning and policy making of human services.Students develop an understanding of management through studies comprising theoretical, behavioral, analytic, and quantitative approaches. Students also develop skills important in human services in areas such as policy management, research skills, information management, administrative, prevention and intervention and interpersonal skills. Human services students also apply these skills through expanding experience and practical study in group, community and systems.
