Grantham worked for me. I started with Grantham University a little over two years ago. Here's my run down. I was in the Army for 7 Years and with my AARTS they transferred 16 credits. I have received my Associate of Science in Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology with Honors because I worked hard for it. English was brutal, General Chemistry was tough and Pre-Calculus was a mind-bender. But most of the teacher's helped me when I asked. Some teachers even had a SKYPE™ account to work with me. I'm now re-enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree program for Electronics Engineering Technology. Each Teacher is different. Some go out of their way to help you and some do the minimum...THE SAME THING AT A BRICK AND MORTAR SCHOOL. How do I know, my wife attended an actual college and the teachers were different for each class too. Some classes are easy and some are challenging...well duh, I may know more about one subject (easy) and less about another (challenging). The entire idea behind getting a degree in the first place is not to say you can remember everything you learned in two or four years, but that you studied it and meet the requirements to work in the field or know how to find the answers needed to work that field. That's why you don't sell your textbooks. You may need to reference them in the future. The price is right for me and fits my budget since it is covered by the GIBILL. My student advisor is AWESOME. She calls me all the time and helps me whenever I need it. I work in the Engineering field already and my employer recognizes the degree. Granted it's not ABET accredited but my paycheck increased and it is recognized by some pretty big named companies in engineering. As far as the AARTS, they will transfer based on what the AARTS suggests. It is not absolute. They look at your experience and stuff to see how to properly transfer the credits. I would not transfer all the credits both if you haven’t touched an electronic course since AIT and you just retired from being staff oriented for the last 12 years. You can request an unofficial AARTS copy for yourself and ask why some may not have transferred. I receive real text books that ARE used in other big name universities...I looked. Not many online degrees offer lectures. The idea for online degrees are to not sit in lectures to learn but to learn at your own pace, which could be faster. Of course you have a minimum learning pace. The Terms are perfect with the amount of time needed for the school to assess if you understand the course. And don't think big name colleges or universities don't have multiple choice tests--LOL, they do. I know someone who went to a big name school and they grade the class on a curve, which means if the majority of the class passes, so do you. How fair is that? Grantham grades you on you, not a curve. All in all, Grantham worked for me. I suggest it to my friends all the time and I have seen many success stories. Maybe some people just have bad luck or a crappy advisor...you can always request a different advisor. This is not a diploma mill either, by any means....I earned my degree through some late nights and little sleep. I think with Grantham, you get out of it what you put into it. I’m a proud Grantham Alumni and will continue to better my education through them. And FYI, Grantham is A+ with the BBB.

DO NOT ENROLL HERE DO NOT ENROLL HERE. It is run by money maggots. They enroll you into a program and then cancell the program when you are just about to graduate, AND KEEP YOUR MONEY !!! DO NOT ENROLL HERE. Find a regionally approved school (such as American Public University). DO NOT ENROLL HERE

Excellent, if you are not looking to transfer To all of you that are complaining about the credits not transferring: that is your fault, for having not done YOUR research prior to enrollment. If you just blindly signed into this, then you have no one to blame but yourself (or your base college office rep, as they are to help you with that if you are in the military). True, they do switch up student advisors entirely too often, but that is my only complaint. I signed up with this school for 2 reasons - the cost is extremely cheap (relatively speaking) and the military recognizes it for going officer. I knew going into it that no one else would accept the credits, but Im not looking for a masters degree...I only want whats required to go officer. To date, I have completed my associates, and I only have 2 classes remaing for my bachelors....putting in officer's package in 2 months! I would highly recommend this school to anyone in the military, seeking out their bachelors. The teachers are all more than willing to work with us, as they understand we have extremely unusual schedules and time can be very limited with training and deployments.

Great school, great value, not just military I completed my MBA at Grantham last year. It took me two and a half years of hard work. Online schools are no joke. Grantham is known for being a military friendly school but anyone can attend, even non-military like myself. I would recommend Grantham to anyone looking at online schools.

Grantham is what you put into it Any issue I have had with Grantham were resolved in less than a week.My education counselor keeps in contact with me by phone or email. They have the same criminal justice curriculum as other schools with a greater reputation.I found the classes challenging. The tests were not always multiple choice and many of them were short answer K essays. My wife attended the school also and had no complaints. She attended university of phoenix( prior to her enrollment in Grantham)which has no empathy and a 44% retention rate.Grantham only caters to the military and their spouses. My instructors were always available and always offered contact numbers if I did not understand the course work. Therer were tests ,essays and posts due midterms and finals.I remember having 8 page assignments lol in ENG 101 and 102. It takes a different type of discipline to go to school online.Alot of the research and understanding is solely on you. They are very understanding and compassionate. They gave extensions when I needed and always worked with me .I will have all of the course work completed by the 27th of this month and an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice.

"Good" Online school, always improving I started at Grantham in 2007, and iitially wasn't very impressed. The courses seemed too easy, and without due dates for many assignments I had no real guidance, just a textbook and a list of assignments to email to an instructor. The website was not easy to navigate back then either. BUT.....After taking a break for a military deployment, I returned to taking online courses at Grantham and Completed my AS in Computer Science. The website has improved so much! And as for the usefulness of a Grantham degree, after being jobless for almost 2 years, that degree got me a job almost immediately. I decided to continue at Grantham in pursuit of my BS, and I can honestly say that every course I have since taken has had a reliable, knowledgeable instructor who grades quickly and is easy to reach to answer questions. My only complaint is in student-student interactions. Many courses require the use of a discussion board where you post your thoughts on a question and respond to 2 other sudents' posts. I find that MANY students simply reply "nice post!" or "I agree" in order to get credit for "responding". Sometimes I miss the real conversation and debate that occurs in a classroom setting. It can also be hard to sort through the spelling and grammar errors of other students. I have sometimes wondered how some of my classmates even graduated high school...but that is no different than I felt in my time at a traditional university and in the military.

Starting My Final Class I recently completed my second to the last class and now all I have to complete is my Cap Stone Project for my MBA. Most of my instructors were very easy to get ahold of and the two that I called were quick to get back to me. I have to give a 10 to my advisor. She was great and kept me focused throughout my degree program. She helped me when I needed it the most. I have attended several colleges and Universities and only once before had I felt like I had someone that cared about my success as much as she did. I’m proud to say I studied and worked very hard to achieve my 3.9 GPA but, like most things you are only going to get out of it what you put into it. I could have skated by and still graduated with a 3.6 but it’s more than a GPA it’s the value of education I wanted, not just the degree. I would recommend this University to anyone. I wish it offered a DBA.

Business BS I like my business courses at Grantham. The instructors have been very good to work with each term. The flexibility Grantham offers is what I need. I truly believe you will get out of the degree (or each class) what you put in the class. The support I have received has always been great.

Honest Opinion of Grantham I recently received by Bachelors at Grantham. Overall I have been impressed with the school. Now I know there is a issue with accreditation among a lot of folks. Nationally vs regionally does not make a difference from a workforce standpoint. Its an individual/business bias. Actually very few employers even ask about accreditation. If and when a company/business does a degree audit it will still show its accreditation by the Department of Education. Most employers don't know the difference anyway and neither is better than the other. Only area it might affect you is transfer of credits going from a Associates to a Bachelors to a Masters. But its no difference going from one regionally accredited school to another. Ask me how I know. They will not accept all transfer credits either. But for those that plan to go to a regionally accredited from a nationally accredited there are a number of schools out there that will transfer over credits with ease from nationally accredited colleges. For those getting teaching degree's or other specialized degree's I would recommend you stick with RA. Most of them will not accept a NA as it stands right now. Currently there is a national body at the federal level that is trying to level the field and have all colleges and universities that accredited at both the NA and RA levels make it easier on the student in credit transfer. But keep in mind schools whether RA or NA are going to try and get as much money out of you as they can. Doesn't take PhD to figure that out. Do your research on both accreditation. Go to the Department of Educations website. It has all the info you need on the subject. Don't take my word or anyone else word read it for yourself. Then make your choice from there. I'm finishing up my MS in Information Management-Project Management at Grantham. And oh by the way my degree from Grantham so far is netting me a 6 figure income.

Dishonesty in this school This school is a joke because they have received their money to pay their salaries from my financial aid loan but will not refund me my credit from my financial aid loan. Every time I call, I get told a different story or promise. I only work part-time and go to school the other time so I have expenses!! Not sure if I want to continue going here if this is the way they do their business! On a positive note, the classes are great and the instructor is too. I've only taken one graduate class at Grantham but, not sure if they want me to continue.

Grantham University review. I see some comment on here that leave me a little confused. I see one comment complaining about not getting lectures? It's online, not Haravard, you are given material and the course is designed to basically be self taught and self led with additional help with from the instuctor and classmates. Then I see complaint about not being able to get get support and have called them over and over.I personally think the support is awesome, both times I enrolled(because I took an extended break) I was walked step by step.I had two people call me from their house, on there off day to ensure I was being taken care of AND one of them had to let me go during a tornado.I don't know how better that gets.I have been to 2 other name brand online colleges, which I will not mention their name, and it was not the best experience.I have had nothing but positive experience here. The classrooms <virtual> are pretty organized and you can even turn on PDA mode which makes it render easier on mobile devices. As far as technology, I think it is up to par with the other two name brand schools I attended. I was a little disappointed with one of my courses, the book was slightly outdated BUT the certain technology is relatively new and the changes that were implimented aren't a big enough differenced to make a fuss about. With a cheat sheet you can see the updates to it and fill in the blanks which honestly is pretty much the way technology goes anyway. That is why I waited until I was closer to retirement to do this degree so I was a little more up to speed when I get out. As far as value goes, I think it's a great value. The other two schools i mententioned I attended nickeled and dimed me to death. They wanted a fee for almost everything so even after the high cost of tuition was paid I still had to come out of pocket for more stuff and with this school even the books are included in the tuition. They are real books also, not e-books like I got before with other schools. So all in al this school has been pretty good to me and if you are looking at going to an online school I would suggest this one. If you want to sit through boring lectures that have been told over and over again go find a brick and mortar school.

Save your money I know it's "online" and all... But the whole class was nothing more than a garden variety textbook and a list of assignments. My thought was "Ok, is it that hard to put up some video lectures or something? I don't need to pay a thousand dollars to sit and read a textbook!" I would say save your money and go to the library. This school is a really poor value.

Easy classes, great instructors I completed 3 classes in 8 weeks with Grantham and had no problems what-so-ever. I am not sure where all the negative feedback is coming from. Every time I needed to get a hold of my adviser, it was usually within a day that he returned my emails. The instructors were accessible view email at all times. The classes were pretty easy but challenging enough to keep my interest. I would be continuing on but with a problem with one of my past colleges, I would be placed on academic hold if I tried to enroll again. My problem, not Grantham's. For the price that they charge per CR HR, you can't got wrong. I did a lot of researching of online colleges and Grantham is probably one of the less expensive colleges available. The others that are pretty close in price are AIU, CTU and CIU. I will be going to CIU because the programs there are pretty close to Grantham's. Plus the price is better.

A good online college Lets be honest... Grantham University is an online university. It is not going to be neccessarily easy nor are you going to receive "lectures". It's ONLINE. Do you really expect an online institution to give you lectures? In my experience so far I have received weekly guidelines of what is expected to be done and what I need to submit. Following the guideline I have so far done quite well -- I have a high A in all my courses. Although I do have a secret... I ask the teachers questions and I don't put it off until the last day. I can't speak for other peoples teacher encounters but for me I have always received an answer within the 48 hour window I am afforded. (read the policy -- they MUST reply within 48 hours) So to the dissenters I ask -- what are you expecting? There aren't any lectures and you alone are responsible for your learning. If you can't teach yourself you shouldn't be taking online courses.

My Experience I attended this university for a week. I will give a quick rundown of the admissions part and what didn't sit right with me. First of all I had to start a week later than was planned because I could never get a hold of my admissions rep (I would call every day). I did get a hold of her the day before I was going to start classes and she didn't want to cram so she postponed my date for a week later. Once I started I was told that none of my previous college, military, training, or certificates were going to transfer over towards my degree. Seems a little fishy to me when the university that I went to after dropping Grantham transferred 42 credits. Seems like Grantham wants to con you into taking more courses with them so they can rake in the money. Also a friend of mine that I know goes to Grantham, they told him that he was going to have credits that will transfer. The credits that they transferred didn't even go towards his degree! They just sit there in a bucket not being used, just another example of Grantham wanting money. I won't say what university I ended up going to because I don't want to sound like I am trying to sell something here. I did call/email/chat with around 20 different online universities before I made my mind up and I am so happy where I am at now. Great military reps etc... Do your research and choose what your gut tells you.

Final I have recently completed my MBA with Grantham and wanted to give my honest assessment of the experience. I have found that some instructors are better than others, while the contact with some was easy while others was like pulling teeth. Based on my undergrad experience at a traditional university the same could be said about their faculty as well. My SPR was excellent, could not have been better. I did notice that sometimes the instuctor would issue an A for an assignment even if it was not of the highest caliber. There were times that I was rushed and did not do well but still recieved an A which should have been a B or C. I must say there seems to be some grade inflation. In the discussion forums it seemed like a lot of the students were late in submitting assignments, typical student stuff. The program is what you make it to be, one could skate by and graduate but if you applied yourself then it was very useful.

Grantham Is Awesome! Grantham was great.I had one year of college left in a BS in CS and finished it with Grantham. The people who complain about Grantham seem very immature and want to be spoon fed. I have been taking Grantham 3 years and I have never ever had an issue with them. Trust me doing programming and Data Structures and Physics with online is tough but Grantham teachers and staff made my journey great. Thank God for Grantham. My next job promotion was because the job requires a BSCS and I had only a 2 year from a 2 year college. I learned more with Grantham that with my 2 year college. I found out what I can really do if I put my mind and heart to it. Grantham or any school is what you make. Grantham Rocks! I got this IT Manager promotion in part due to my BSCS degree. Oh yeah. And those of you who talk bad about Grantham grow up. I doubt very much you could make it in any school. Really. I have watching Grantham for 25 years when I was in the USAF and after many years of doubt I jump in and found out Grantham is improving itself every day. And there new Angel software kicks but. Go Grantham go. You do a agreat job. God bless. Robert Wisconsin

Grantham University Review For me this has been a wonderful experience. the academic advisors email throughout the course making sure you don't need anything and when you do they will always get back to you with an answer. Not all my teachers have been stellar but for the most part they give you assistance when needed and if you are going to be late on a assignment then they ususally grant you extensions no questions asked. Right now I am finishing my degree in CJ and I wwill continue my masters through this University. Those that have problems here are probably impatient and just negative all around. things are going to go wrong but if you know how to ask for help it is there for you.

BSEET 5 classes left There is no hand holding at this school, so if you keep your expectations at a minimum it isn't too bad. It is up to you to follow up, and schedule your classes carefully. Each course has a strict timeline of 8 weeks. For some classes this is not bad, but for the precalculus and calculus classes it was brutal. There are many complaints regarding the difficulties in transferring credit to other institutions. Having researched transferring to different schools, I would like to post what I found. Generally, some credits would transfer. I found that for similar courses of study, other colleges had slightly different class names. Since the classes were not one for one, less credit would transfer. Transferring to another school would also had required me to take more elective classes. Most colleges require that a certain number of credits be completed at their institution as a requirement for graduation. Most schools have placement exams, and if the courses have been completed then a CLEP or similar would be the most effective way to transfer. For the difference in cost of tuition and books, it isn't a bad trade up. It is best to stay with one school, if possible, because it will result in the quickest route to a degree. While much is learned while going to school, the purpose of going to school is to establish the knowledge that provides the skillset to be able to research a problem and provide an effective solution. The research that is done, over time, provides experience, and is what most employers ultimately want.

Buyer Beware I can't say enough bad things about this school. It has been nothing but problems. When you farm out your curriculum, and have teachers that aren't PhDs, you never know what you're going to get. Very unsatisfied. If I had to do it over, I would have gone to a real school.

Bachelor Electronic I am severely dissappointed. When I first started I took 35 credit hours straight with no problems, because I knew the material and teaching me wasn't necessary. then I started the signal and system theory course. All of this course was new and foreign to me and I recieved no help and have failed the course twice, there is no examples that even closely resemble the test questions, the labs are utterly confusion with no examples, the homework is left to google.com and no one will help me anywhere. Sux all around, I am attending this fall to South Alabama, what a waste of time this school has been.

Nothing But Bad Experiences I enrolled in this school with the advice of a friend, I started my Major In BA, but switched to CJ, simply because I needed my degree for promotion reasons. From the day I switched it was nothing but problems, the student rteps dont return your phone call or email even though I have been in the school of almost a year and send them my records they claimed they did not have it, Very few of my prior credits were evaluated even though they were from a regionally acredited school, think they want you to take more of their classes. I felt like I was a piece of meat the only time I heard from my student rep was when she neded me to sign up for a new class from the day I enrolled in the class i never heard from her again. I recently had to call and ask that she be changed as my rep because she has failed me in every endeavor, from the computer scholarship program, enrolling in classes, getting my transcrips and processing my enrollment. I sined up for a class a mont prior to the start date, I am deployed so I thought being proactive I will sign up and have my books on time, worng! she sent me an email one day prior to the start date " sorry your class was not processed in the system even though E,ARMYU had it processed, she was just too dran lazy to take care of my enrollment before the start date. I can write a thesis on Grantham, they boast to be military friendly, NOT! ALL THEY CARE IS THAT THEY GET THEIR MONEY, I am stuck I am so far along that it would be stupid to change schools, maybe I am just unlucky with the great reviews I see posted here. My soldiers always ask me what is the best school i tell them dont touch Grantham with a 10 foot pole.

Great School I have two degrees from Grantham. Associates in Business Administration and Bachelors in Multidiciplinary Studies. I am currently enrolled in the Masters program. I have taken brick and motor classes, Grantham gives a different experience than other traditional colleges, but it is a good value. I would rather pay $250 per credit hr than $641 per credit hr and all books and materials were included. I even received a free laptop from them. If you are using TA or GI bill this is perfect. I have no debt at all. I have had my issues with the school, but its what you take from your experience that is the true value. Things I did not enjoy were the changing of Student progress reps, Book shipments and some of the instructors not grading in timely fashion. These are things that can hinder you at any institution. I feel that it was all worth it. Regionally acredited colleges and nationally acredited colleges have one difference, Regional schools are Non Profit. This is what you are paying for. UOP use to be for profit and no one would accept their credits either. Now that they are Non Profit, they are treated like the best school ever. This is just an excuse to charge more for the same education. As long as you have official Transcripts from and accredited College, you will get a good job.

Little Support I was attending University of Grantham when I was granted a special waiver to retire versus forced to PCS to another base in a few months. Due to all the planning to retire (outprocessing, job & house hunting, finding a suitable stateside college for my kid, etc.) I asked permission from my Student Progress Pepresentative for an "exception to policy" with additional 15 days to finish my final course. A dean from another department contacted me and said he saw no reason to approve my request. He stated that he knew full well that retiring from overseas took alot of time, he in fact, did the same thing recently, but I knew my plans ahead of time and had enough time to complete my courses (the other course taken during the semester was finished). When I looked up this Dean's name, found out that he didn't even retire from uniformed service overseas, was a high ranking civil service employee from the education section of the U.S. Air Force. I had all A's, except one "B", now with a "F". I keep getting contacted by Grantham University offering to "help me" to re-enroll to finish my degree, Fat Chance...

Grantham SUCKS!!!!!!!!! This college has let me down. Starting my first lab with them i found out 3 weeks into the course that i had the wrong version of there computer lab. So i got the right one ordered. It was back logged it took another 6 weeks to get. After starting the lab over i received zero help from my instructor. I requested 8 times to drop this course. Which they did not do. Then i got an letter from the Navy wanted me to pay for my class that i failed. How could this be i had requested to be withdrawn. bottom line was that i was over the time limit to get it withdrawn. I contacted Gratham and explained the whole situation. They finally paid the Navy for the course. But low and behold they still posted an F for the course. Now i can not take any courses using TA because i have a GPA below 2.0. Thanks Grantham for nothing. Not only can i not take any classes from you i can't take any courses from anyone else using TA.

So far so good I just recently completed my fourth class toward my MBA. I'd have to say I'm pleased with how everything is progressing at this point. Early on there were some issues with student reps changing but I have now had a great student rep for the last couple of classes who keeps in touch on a regular basis. Earning an MBA for me with give me personal satisfaction and hopefully more opportunities. I enjoy online learning using their G-Life platform. At the end of the day I don't know that I'll be competing against MBA's from Harvard or Yale but if I am I'd feel good about my chances as much of it is personality based anyway. I looked at other schools like University of Phoenix, Capella and for the price I am able to maximize my tuition reimbursement. Grantham is one of about four online schools that my company reccomends and I work for a Fortune 300 company who would not align themselves with just anyone.

Very Pleased I am very pleased with my experience. I have 3 classes remaining to finish my BSEET. I have been accepted into a regionally accredited and ABET accredited university for a Masters program in System Engineering. College is what you make of it. If you choose to learn, then you will. Conversely, if you try and cheat your way through, that will be evident in a job interview. Although, in Engineering classes, I don't see how you could cheat. I would say that if you are not strong in math don't attempt Calculus and Physics online.

Good School no complaints I have been attending Grantham 3 years and I am almost done. I grad this 2010. I called my near by college and asked if they would take my degree and if I could teach their with a BS degree from Grantham, they said yes. Marshfield Hospital one of the biggest clinics in the nation told me they accepted Granthams BS degree. I am confused how I read such bad comments on this forum. Grantham is good. and another thing, if you cheat you cheat yourself and people cheat in brick and mortar schools i know. 3/4 of my degree was at a brick school I have only needed 1 last year and I decided on grantham due to the price and flexibility. Students cheat in brick schools too dont be fooled...Grantham is good and even better with their online angel system. It is nice.

Worth the Time and Money Grantham met all of my needs and then some. They followed me from the states, to Iraq, and back, twice and my student reps couldn't have been better. Grantahm allowed me to accelerate my education on my terms and was a huge value. Completing my degree is definately a lifetime highlight but the confidence received from successfully teaching myself College Algebra, Finite Mathmatics, and 2 Statistics classes after being a so-so high school student will pay dividends as well. This school is not for the weak or fainthearted. You must be a self starter, able to self learn, and possess a disciplined stick-with-it-ness to acheive success. The course work was challenging and relevant and I have already applied the knowledge gained to my daily work. All in all an outstanding experience. Perfect fit in meeting the demands of military members. Rangers Lead The Way!

Promoted Promoted! Thanks Grantham! 20 yrs of experience is worth about as much as a degree from Grantham. How do I figure that. With just a degree I would need almost 20 yrs experience to get the job I had without a degree. To get the promotion I need both. Having one without the other, doesn't get you promoted. I've posted on several Grantham bashing web sites just to say "if it doesn't work for you, try something else." Those who have a career and know Grantham will meet their needs should enroll. If you're looking to start a career, depending on you level of aspiration, I would recommend you look elsewhere. Just being honest, but It has and continues to work for me.

Don't waste your time This school is closer to a Diploma Mill than a Regionally Acc college. At 750 per course is not a good deal! you can get that same price from other regionally acc colleges...UOP, Excelsior, GWU, Penn State online, Central Texas..etc...etc..and these schools are well known. Don't be fooled by those Grantham Recruiters on base! Get a real degree.

Above Average... I've read several reviews from a few of the other colleges; Devry, University of Phoenix, and Colorado Technical University to name a few. I don't think there is a single school out there that fully pleases all of its students. I am in my second year of Computer Science and as prone to complaining as I can be, I really have no major complaints about the school. I keep hearing how it isn't Regionally Acredited, but I've read the pages from the Department of Education, CHEA, HETA, and all those other acronyms that say regional vs. national should make little differenc. When I research jobs in my future field, the descriptions alway ask for an "acredited" degree. None ask specifically for regional over national. The school itself can be a pain at times... sometimes the grades don't come back as quick as they should, some instructors don't even look at your work, if you have a problem it can be a bit of a hassle to get it solved quickly... but a lot of these issues occur everywhere you go. I've attended Southern Illinois University and Richland College in Dallas, both on-campus and I've attended Cleveland Institute of Electronics online and I would put Grantham above all of those. As I've heard others say, you get what you put into it. If you don't want to do the reading, you can just skip around and do the minimum, but you can do that anywhere if you want. The key is to WANT to learn while you're doing the work. I may be back on here in six months totally ripping the school, but after 16 months I still enjoy the experience.

Grantham Instructors I am retired Army E-9, I completed my M.S. degree from Grantham and I applied to teach online courses for them. They will not hire me because my degree in not Regionally Accredited. How stupid is that they can take your money give you a degree but it is not good enough to teach for them. I also applied to various other colleges (online instructor) and standard ground campuses and none of them accept my M.S. as good enough to teach. That school is a joke. They are a bunch of Hipocrits! To all my military members stay away from this school please.

BSBA I completed my Under Grad degree in July 09; I started my degree back in 2006 so that’s not too bad. Over all Grantham is a great school for the money. I too had three student Reps over the years, but people move on to better jobs so I understand. My instructors where there for me and my student Reps always..always helped me whenever I needed help. As for my credits, I have gone on to Post University MBA program, this is one of the best colleges in the country and they accepted my credits. So don't think you cannot use your Grantham credits anywhere else, this is not true. I went to Post University because of less course work and I think a better overall MBA program.

WORTHLESS DEGREE Grantham Unv. degrees are a rip-off. Most Base Education OfficerS do not recommend the Unv. because their credits don't transfer over to 99% of other universities. Also only 10% of Grantham University Employees have degrees and I only think that is the people in the Military Department which is about 10-20 people out of about 500-1000 employess. It basically is a sales type college only wanting to sell you a worthless degree that no one will except. You can't get a teacher's Lic., A transfer to a State University in any State College or Community College, a Nurse Lic or LVN Lic, a Phsy Lic and various other Licenses. So why waste your time there....YOU ARE BETTER OFF PRINTING A DEGREE FROM YOUR PRINTER AT YOUR HOUSE WITH A FAKE COLLEGE NAME..................

Transfer I recently moved to a different base. I went to the education office to see about transferring the 90+ credits from Grantham, seeking regional accreditation. THe first school i talked to will take 67 credits, and will award an associates after taking 15 credit hours with them. Grantham has evolved dramatically over the last few years, but im tired of waiting on them to upgrade. Regional accreditation opens more doors than just national. THats the truth. I will still persue my bachelors with them being so close already.

the truth Ive been with grantham for a while. Im almost done with the bachelors. THis school has come along way, as has online ed in a whole. It fit good with all the moving around and deployments. THis degree is not worthless by any means and will open many doors, but not as many as a regionally accretited school. I have a 2 yr degree from them it is recognized by the military and federal governemnt and by two states when inquiring about state jobs. I did have 2 police departmentstell me they wont except transcripts from a nationally accredited school. As far as transferring, it isnt easy and they all wont transfer. I did find a regioanlly accredited school with minimum effort that will accept 67 credit hours from them. I i have to take a a few steps back but will transferr some credits to have aregionall accredited degree and will also finish with grantham, their degree will get you more money from your military retirement as well ;)

MBA Program follow up review This post is follow up to my April 2008 review. I am currently working on the fourth class in my MBA program. Overall I am still pleased. My SPR has changed which is annoying again but the classes are still time consuming and challenging. The last class I copmleted was BA645 which is project management. (This class in particular related directly to my job and resulting in my earning a bonus for progress on a project that nobody said could be done.) I take the time to read and understand all of the material and find it worth the effort. As I stated before, you get what you put into it and this time next year I plan to start shopping around for a new job with my MBA. Expected grad date is July 2010. It all boils down to knowlege, certifications and networking being the keys to sucess.

Grantham Grantham as a whole is OK. Is it MIT? By far no. Is it a wast of time and money? By far no. I have have a degree from St Leo university (both brick and mounter and on line courses) I attended a couple of community collages as well as Radford University in VA. My primary problem was I did not know what I wanted to be when I grew up. On line vis classroom. Classes in a classroom are much easier in my opinion than On line classes partially due to the lower amount of pear interaction. Format makes a huge difference. Forced discussion boards and webanars is the way to go. Because of Grantham 's increased (alittle to much) flexibility to deployed military members their utilization of technology is a little lacking. That being said I do see improvements with their new platform and some of my instructors are beginning to use technologies such as Skype to hold their office house. I would like to see Grantham embrace these technologies more in order to improve overall quality of education. Because of time flexibility On line classes are my best choice. If you are not disciplined do not attend any on line class as you will not do the work and will fail. If you have a problem with an instructor make it known to the administration. If if you have and idea for technologies to better facilitate your education make it know to the administration. In the end it is your education and you will get out of it exactly what you put in. Open book tests: On line classes have open book tests! So do traditional classes. So does life. I know no engineers who do no reference. The key to anything is knowing how to find the material you kneed to solve the problem. That is the entire basis of higher education. It is not wrote memorization but the ability to determine the proper course of action with the given variables that defines success. The key to preventing the over utilization of reference materials on examinations is time limits. Which I am seeing more and more instructors at Grantham utilize. Credits not transferring. Ok now this kink of sucks. A lot of Grantham's credits will not transfer to some traditional schools. This is a true deficit of Grantham's. That being said. No matter where you go you are going to run into transfer credit problems. Unless the course work is near identical most of your upper level classes anywhere have a hard time transferring to something useful for you. Grantham could improve its position by seeking regional accreditation. If you do not plan on finishing your degree at Grantham I would not start for now. All in all I am content with Grantham and wold give it an overall rating of a C+ with MIT being an A+ but I don't have A+ time. If I cold be a full time student I would not attend Grantham but only because I would like to have lab time. Grantham is getting the job done and is working for me.

Accreditation? Regionally means colleges and university are part of that region's accreditation, there are six regions of accrediting bodies. Nationally means any college or university from any region can apply for nationally accreditation, which is one body. The Department of Education does not state one is better than the other. The difference is regionally accreditation is more expensive, don't like to accept other school's credits if they are nationally accredited. The reason why is because regionally accreditation has higher fees to be part of so that is why most of those colleges are expensive and make you pay for books to help build up the cost. Your Military credits (SMARTS or AARTS) are nationally accredited by ACE American Council of Education. This is why those schools that are regionally accredited don't except much of your military credits. The bottom line here is these regionally accredited schools want to be on base and recruit to up their enrollments but are they really there for the service member? You have to decide which route is a better fit for your self. I have two regionally accredited degrees: A. S.and a B.S. (criminal justice) Both cost me money out of my pocket, 9 out of my 70 military credits went towards my A.S. And zero for my B.S. Both degrees charged me for books and neither of them guaranteed me a job in the criminal justice world. I have a M. Ed from a nationally accredited University and I am currently working in the Higher Education Field. You make the decision. This is the top clue if a university is a good fit for military personnel: If a university can't tell you how many credits up front they will take into one of their programs they might not be likely to take any of your military credits if so very few. Thank you, CWO4 USMC (Ret) M.Ed

Great School Ok Grantham is not Regionally Acc but soon to be. They applied for the Regional Acc. Do you really know what the difference is? I work in Higher Education and the Dept. of Education does not say one is better than the other. Regional is what it is...a bunch of schools in that region (like Mafia). National is any school from any region can join the National Acc body. Now that is the difference and this is why regionally acc schools don't like to take credits from other schools that are not in their region. From Higher Education

Good School, Worth the money! Grantham is a great school for military members! I see a lot of post on here that say other wise but there is one thing that I learned is that when you go to any college you need to stick with that college or else you do take a chance of not being able to transfer any of your credits. Also, Grantham isn't the only school in America that has issues with transfering there credits! If you feel that you need to spend twice as much to get a degree then go ahead but remember that the people who teach classes at Grantham are also as educated as those who who teach at the more expensive colleges. College to me overall is all about money no matter were you go but getting your education is one of the most important things that a person can get. Education should be affordable to everyone not just to those who can afford expensive colleges. Good luck to everyone and I'll be graduating from Grantham University with my Masters Degree in IT next May 2010!

Grantham a waste of time Grantham basically preys on Soldiers. One class will cost you a $1000.00 of tuition assistance and good luck getting any of your credits to transfer. Even AMU wouldn't touch Grantham credits. I finally found a brick and mortar school that would let me audit a class if I took it at Grantham or write a paper proving I had working knowledge. Your better off not wasting your time or money. BTW I now have my BS is psych from Corban College in Salem OR.

The only issue that i have with the school is that my progress Rep. would change every 6 months or so. I had no problems with the new angels platform, actually I prefer it compared with the old system. Grantham is a legitimate school without this school I would have never earned my degree. No Complaints Other than the whole accreditation thing, I don’t really have any gripes with Grantham. My BA in Criminal Justice enabled me to score a job with the Department of Veterans Affairs, in Boston, where I will be working as a Veterans Service Representative; the credits I earned from Grantham are recognized by both Harvard University and the University of Massachusetts, but I’ve decided to continue my studies with Drexel University, in Philadelphia, which also recognized my Grantham degree; and, in my last job, I was finally promoted.

I Hate Grantham I attended Grantham for three courses back in 2007. Needless to say I had to withdrawal from all of them and pay back military TA $2250.00. Thanks Grantham!!! I got all A's on my easy, open book, multiple choice, moranic tests. When it came to the proctored final exams, I didn't have the time or sources to get them down within my time line. No one could help me or extend my due time, at all. There were no exceptions and regardless of my excellent, perfect grades, the classes counted as a fail because I didn't finish a exam the was only a minimal percentage of the total grade. Heck, I would take a B, I guess. Rip off, waste of time school. Cost me alot of hard earned cash and time. I don't recommend nationally accredited schools anyway, unless you're employed solid, and you just need a piece of paper...for wiping.

OK at best I was turned on to this school knowing what it was but was limited on what i could do. My friend got a promotion because of this degree. I called certain police forces that require education, no problems so far with this school. I dont expect all the doors to be open but some are. I started with them and will finish, which is the only way to go with this type of school. If you plan on transfering look elsewhere, it wont be immpossible but it wont be easy.Hear this haters and lovers alike, honestly, when i started in 05 it seemed like a joke. It has evolved, with the recent implimentation of the angel system and others, it is no joke. Im glad im approaching the end becasue it has become very demanding. It is clear that this school is a business first but it is also clear the are striving for better recognition. I hope they get it for all those that put everything into this school. Good Luck to all.

Grantham University Wow! When is this going to end. OK, we get it. Grantham sucks. Look, I have my Masters Degree from Grantham. I've been employed for the past 20 years for a large organization and the degree from Grantham has given me the promotion that I was seeking. I needed a Masters Degree. I didnt need one from USC, Harvard, Princeton, Yale.......just a Masters Degree. This is probably the case for a lot of folks that get their degree from Grantham. We can do our own research and make our own decisions. We know, we know, Grantham isnt fully accredited.....bla bla bla. If you dont want to get a degree from Grantham than move on with life. Stop make yourselves miserable....get your degree from wherever is going to make you happy.

MBA program I just started my MBA with Grantham and have not encountered any problems to date. The class work is time consuming because I put in the time to read and research. I also have noticed that the class average grade is about 15 points below mine which is an A currently. This program is just as it is with any other, you get what you put into it. The next item is the accredidation issue. I have a bachelors degree from a regionally accredited university, Big Ten to be exact and I would say that I am learning more here than when I was a full time student. Grantham is not perfect but it is affordable and will add to my tool kit in my job. Bottom line, you get what you put into something and I am not worried about transfer credits. My big deal regionally accredited university gave me a hard time when I took classes from one of its satelite campuses. It is all about money when it comes to transfers.

Current student I am wrapping up my last year for my B.S. I have been in business for a long time and I haven't needed a degree until recently. I have attended 2 big name universities and I can honestly say that the work at Grantham is as challenging as I have seen. My low-down: I have one instructor that I can't stand so far, but that is normal. The support is typically the same day. I don't like the late hours researching for papers, but again, normal. I will say that you have to be a bit of a self starter. There really isn't anyway directly accessible to hold your hand. I suppose this is where the phrase "adult learner" may play a part. I probably wouldn't go here if I were thinking of switching schools as there seems to be issues with xfers. This is a good means of gaining a legitimate degree to get the box checked for the employer. As an employer I will tell you that experience is what the employer really wants, but I have to be able to check the box for "Degreed" to move on. Anyway, that's my .02.

Grantham is a solid school Grantham has earned a A+ rating with the BBB, if there were any real issues with the school, why not file a complaint with the BBB, there are a lot of people that are using this sight to post derrogatory info against the school because they refused to do proper research prior to enrolling, I agree granthum is no better or no worse than any other online school. As far as i am concerned they are a solid school to earn an online degree. I am currently working on my Bachelors degree with 4 more classes left, I have been taking classes over a year with no problems.

Grantham is Alright by me I'm writing this review in reference to Grantham University... As a working adult with a wife, 2 kids, foreclosed home and high level IT engineering job. I found Grantham to be an excellent program. In comparison to schools that are neighbors to my home (Strayer, both online, in-class and video-Instructor led and George Mason- More traditional some online) the cost of Grantham and the flexible plans out weigh some of the closers schools. I would like to note that some of Grantham's advanced courses (physics, trig, calculus) are not something that anyone should take online (Unless, you have clear concepts of advance mathematics). However, Grantham instructor assistance is very poor and I've been attending the school since 03 but have been on hiatus since 06. Beyond the instructor assistance I love how they tailor the course. Again if you good, you can complete a course in a month (I have done that from some of my IT classes that I've been using for the past 8 years) clearly increasing the ability to graduate earlier. If given multiple choices Grantham would be one of my top picks to include, Troy, Florida-Northwestern or Strayer University. Strayer is good but $1200 per class plus an additional 15 extra course on top of what you may have already completed is non-sense. Clearly they are seeking to acquire $30K from anyone in attendance.

School Works For Me After reading these reviews I had to say something! I give Grantham a 7, they met all my requirements and I enjoyed 90% of the assignments! Yes, credits don't transfer, but I did my homework, before I enrolled! Very flexible schedules, high turnovers rate of Student Rep's, instructor's are ok, no problems in my 6 years of attending. Final thoughts, yes a regional accredited college, I would recommend if you can. But, I know for some of us, this is the only way to get a degree. I'm retired Air Force and now make triple figures, so the question is "regional" or "distance" what works for you.

New Angel Program sucks The school just adopted a new learning program called "Angel" which is completely different then the old learning style. It follows the style that many online universities do today, filled with discussion boards and due dates, the only reason I liked this university is now gone. As soon as I get my transcripts from Grantham I'm going to Southern Colombia University which uses the old Grantham concept but cheaper.

Starting over Okay the books are in fact real text books, the same ones you would find in a real school. That is about the only thing you could use to compare Grantham University to a real school. Sorry Mr. Macon it just sucks! I am now starting over and going for a REAL degree at a REAL school.

I just quit Grantham.. as an employee ..way too much fraud.. this place thrives off hosing down soldiers and taking their money.. and what is worst is that only very few places accept Grantham credits..Not regionally accredited... what a scam.. Save your money ..go to a regionally accredited school.. I once swore an oath to defend America from enemies both foreign and domestic...GRANTHAM is the enemy of US Military soldiers and preys upon them and their families... that is why I quit.... being a former soldier myself.. I just could not let one more person be defrauded........

2 thumbs up!!!! Hi, I have been a student of Grantham University since 2006 and have finally graduated. First, compared them with other distance education programs available and traditional brick and mortar schools; I chose Grantham because of its flexibility with my military schedule. Grantham's IT courses are current and relevant to the field. I have had positive things to say about my student progress representatives, teachers, and its faculty. Grantham allowed me to complete my Bachelor's degree in engineering. I never had such good instructors that were there to help me one-on-one like Granthams instructorts have. Grantham University "has" leveled the playing field so "everyone" can achieve a high quality education. Also, have up-to-date courses and technology to keep them current with the bigger colleges. I highly recommend Grantham to you or anyone serious about getting thier degree. It takes loyalty, dedication, and time management to take classes online. I liked that versus being spoon fed as I was from some of these traditional schools I have attended in the past. Thank you!

Don't believe it until you try it I'm currently in the Computer Engineering Technology program and thus far I'm very satisfied. Unlike some of the others I have a broad scope of background education, b/m and online. I've done the Strayer University thing, I've done the Old Dominion University thing, I've done the ECPI thing, and I've done the Cleveland Institute of Electronics thing, and overall I have to say that I like Grantham more than any of the others. They have a very good curriculum and the price is right. Don't knock it 'til you try it. It's not for everyone, but if you're an independent person who is comfortable with managing your own time and educational goals then you'll do well and earn a respected degree. Hey ODU and Strayer accepted my DETC credits from CIE... so there you go.

SUPPORT IS GREAT, CREDITS ARE NOT I SEE ALL THE OTHER REMARKS, IT IS TRUE, THE CREDITS DONT TRANSFER TO ALL SCHOOLS, BUT YOU RUN THAT CHANCE WITH ANY CLASS YOU TAKE, SO YOU HAVE TO DO YOUR HOMEWORK ON WHERE YOU WANT TO TRANSFER THEM TO. I WANT TO ASK WHY NOT JUST FINISH THE DEGREE FROM GRANTHAM AND NOT TRANSFER ??? THE SUPPORT I GOT FROM MY 1ST STUDENT REP WAS HORRIBLE, BUT THE ONE I HAVE NOW WALKS ON WATER WITH ME, SHE IS GREAT..... I WILL FINISH MY BACHELORS, AND THEN ON TO AN MBA. THE DEGREE IS WORTHWHILE, YOU HAVE TO PROVE YOURSELF TO THE PERSON PUTTING VALUE ON THE DEGREE, A DEGREE FROM HARVARD IS WORTH MORE THAN A DEGREE FROM CENTRAL TEXAS COLLEGE AND SO ON.... IF YOU PLAN ON TRANSFERRING CREDITS, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE, IF YOU CAN COMPLETE THE DEGREE, STAY WITH THEM.

Don't Be Fooled By These Crooks I took 3 semester's worth of classes at Grantham Universtiy. I am a SSgt in the United States Air Force. This is a school that just has a lot of money, and can pay off sites like military.com to do their advertising. If you don't believe that they ARE NOT regionally accredited, just look at their website: http://www.grantham.edu/other/accreditation.php They talk about how important accreditation is. And they have a very professional looking website. Many people think that "nationally" accredited is what to look for, this is simply NOT true. They 'brag' about being accredited through DETC; which is a worthless Accrediting Commission. You want your school to be regionally accredited. PLEASE LISTEN TO ME, AND TAKE MY ADVICE!!! This school's credits are WORTHLESS! 100% WORTHLESS; I cannot get ANY OTHER School to accept my credits, the "CCAF (Community College of the Air Force) who paid for these classes won't even accept these credits (and I took Math Classes, English Classes, Physc, and a few criminal justice classes). I worked with 3 other people that went to this school, and completed all of their requirements for their CCAF, and when they went to go transfer their credits, CCAF wouldn't take any of them. None of the community colleges would take them. Rutger's wouldn't take them, no well known, respected university would touch them. All of these "positive" reviews HAVE to be from the school itself. I really wish military.com would stop take this school's advertising dollars, and stop putting them out as a "military friendly school". The course books are a JOKE. The course work is a joke, you just take mulitple choice tests, that are easy, and you are allowed to use the book. There is no time for the test either. Your not going to learn anything. And good luck trying to get in touch with anyone here. Tech support? Professors? Academic Deans? Advisors? NOTHING. The people you WILL here from are the admissions folks, you will get in touch with them in a heart beat. At first I thought I just had a bad teacher. Until I realized that this school barely exsists. I got a hold of no one. I have written the Dean countless times, his name is J. Patrick Cambell. I have still not heard back from any of my emails, phone calls, or letters I've sent him. Please please please, just take my advice, DO NOT TOUCH THIS SCHOOL! I wish, man I wish someone would have warned me. At McGuire AFB, I actually got the Wing CC to post an advisory about this school at the Ed. Center. I really wish that military would just go ahead and ban this school.

Only want your money!!! Their policy is garbage! Their policy is, that if you fail a final you will fail the whole course. You can get all A's while taking the course but if you fail the final for that course thats it, no more chances, you gotta take it again. Thats the stupidiest policy Ive ever heard of, I called my student representative and I asked him what was the purpose of having me taking all these exams for 2 months,(7-A's, 2-B's and 2-D's, enough to pass a course I would think) if only the final counts and he could not answer me. I just wasted 9 months of my life. Please stay away from these people if you value your time and money!

Staff was just as bad. Calls were made and maybe 1 out of 10 were returned and even then, the person calling back was an idiot and had no clue what they were talking about. Grantham Graduate after 10 years I have been a student of Grantham University for over 10 years and have finally graduated. When I first enrolled in Grantham it was a small school. I compared them with other distance education programs available at the time and selected Grantham because the required courses were on par with a brick and mortar university. I have watched as Grantham has experienced tremendous growth over the years and while there may have been a few bumps along the way, I am prowd to be one a Grantham alumni. Grantham's computer science courses are current and relevant to the field. I cannot say enough good things about the student progress representatives I have had over the years and I have had several. Gratham unlike most universities and especially brick and mortar schools went above and beyond to help me continue my education through work challenges, caring for my elderly mother in law, my husband's illness and his death. I WOULD NOT have been able to complete my degree without the compassion and assistance the staff provided. Grantham allowed me to complete my high school dream of earning a Bachelor's degree in computer science. I never would have imagined that I could learn calculus or physics outside of a class room since I did not take them in high school. I dropped out to start my family. I really strugged with those classes and am very proud that I finished them. Some may say that the distance education classes are easy. I found the classes to be challenging and learned something new from each of them. You get out of an education no matter where you take it what you put into it. Grantham University wants to level the playing field so that a quality college education is available to everyone. They are constantly updating the courses to keep them current and they listen to the students to try to improve the college. Thank you Grantham for helping me and others like me achieve our dreams!

Grantham and what they have to offer I have completed the requirements for my Associates in Business Administration and am a semester away from my Bachelors. The University is what it is and does not pretend to pull any punches. It's a school that is online centric for folks like me, military. It does concern me that there is no regional accredidation. Maybe I am being a bit naive but it seems like you should be able to sell yourself along with a degree. Having the discipline to complete a degree, resident or distant, while having a full-time job takes a lot of commitment. I have a hard time understanding why so many people complain. If you don't like it then go somewhere else. I think there is a real "I want my cake and eat it too" mentality. Grantham is not going to be able to compete with Top Tier brick and mortar schools. The best thing they can do is stick to what they do and not waiver. They don't need to justify anything to anybody. They are a DETC school and they are always looking for ways to improve, that's it! They are also a business the needs to make a profit. After reading some of the things people have to say it makes me wonder. Customer service gripes do need to be addressed but stop whining about the academics. Move on if you don't like. For what it's worth, I say thanks to Grantham. I fuss about the proctored exams but I get over it. People just want to complete the classes and do as little work as possible. I would just ask people to put everything in perspective and have more confidence in yourself and your ability to sell yourself and degree. It's going to be okay, anytime you can educate yourself you should take advantage. For a guy who was a C student in High School and will be retiring from the Army soon I am very grateful to Grantham and I'll frame my diploma right next to my wife's. She has an undergrad from Berkeley and a Masters from the Savannah College of Art and Design. She is very proud of me and everyone who graduated or is going to Grantham should be proud of themselves!

Look elsewhere! I am attending Grantham and wish i had done a great deal more of research! They were great while I was doing great! When I had trouble and wanted to drop a class they continually changed my studebnt rep, failed to return phone calls and basically avoided me until it was too late and I was financially obligated to pay for the course! Don't bother getting to know your student rep, they change so often. Yes, all your credits will transfer in but NO ONE will take their credits if you try to transfer them out!! They are NOT regionally accredited which is way more essential and valuable than National accredidation. Good luck trying to get a job with ANY Grantham Degree- I actually had an employer laugh whe I told them who my degree would be through. Needless to say I am now seeking a better institution to get a REAL degree and have to retake all the Grantham courses. They prey on military just for the money. The pricese are low for a reason- their school is a joke!

look out for yourself No support from the teachers or staff. I was truly on my own. Open book tests were easy though so your grade should be good. Unfortunatly, no one will take you seriously when you present your degree. Because of the poor support, I dropped out and am attending another school. None of the credits transfered though, so I'm out of luck there. Look hard if you are interested. If it's too easy to be true, it probably is.

Not for those that really want to learn I went for a few semesters and realized that I was getting no support at all. Furtherfore, I was being sent a lot of books but I was not being taught anything. Instructors are just there to grade papers and they did not even do a good job at that. I made a mistake one time and sent my rough draft instead of my final paper. I realized what I did several days later and went to send the final paper and in my in-box was a grade from my instructor. I received an "A" for my not-so-well thought out rough draft. I dont think that the instructor even read over it. If this is the kind of graduate that they are putting out, I dont want anything to do with them.

MBA Grad I recently completed the school's MBA Program. I found the format of the program challenging, the topics interesting and enjoyed most of the required course work. I found a majority of the instructors to be very helpful and accommodating. Synchronizing schedules was difficult at times but nothing that prohibited the accomplishment of class work. My academic advisor was helpful and always delivered what she promised. When she was not available, other advisors were able to step in and provide assistance. The school's management team promptly handled the difficult issues that arose during my time with the school. Grantham is far from the perfect school but they provided me with an opportunity to achieve my goal of obtaining a Master’s Degree on my terms without draining my savings account. I will not be able to measure my degree’s true worth until I finally retire from Military Service and start my second career. Independent learning is not for everyone. If you are not a self-motivated individual or not willing to work though minor issues, I recommend that you enroll in a traditional university. Make good choices and spend your money wisely!

A worthwhile experience! There have been a great number of negative comments about this university lately, so I want to share my thoughts. First: who should attend Grantham or any online university? You should not attend if you expect to land a dream job with your degree after you graduate. You should go to a well respected school that offers student career services, internships, and recruiting. Career placement is the best asset a big university can offer. You should attend if you're working full time and need a degree to open new doors of opportunity. Second: thoughts on accreditation and degree acceptance. Some complain about credit transfers. DO NOT ATTEND AN ONLINE DETC ACCREDITED SCHOOL UNLESS YOU INTEND TO GRADUATE FROM THAT SCHOOL. It's that simple. Most regionally accredited schools will likely not take credits from online colleges. As for the usefulness of a Grantham degree, well, that is relative to what you want. You should know what you want before attending any university. I work for the federal government. The US Govt accepts any degree from colleges with a Dept of Education approved accreditation. Yes, DETC is one of those. There is a large list of private companies that accept and even provide tuition assistance for employees to Grantham such as AT&T, GM, Lowes, Bellsouth, Verizon, etc... As with any school there are negative experiences. Online schools require greater self-discipline and the ability to learn on your own. You will not receive the same level of academic support that you would get from a brick-and-mortar school. Some of Grantham's instructors (or paper graders as I call them) offer no support at all. In fact, none of them instruct at all. They will provide assistance if you do not comprehend the material, but the learning is completely up to you. On the other hand, my wife attends a big name university and the problems I've had with Grantham pale in comparison to hers. I earned a bachelor and master degrees from Grantham. I can't complain about costs as my GI-Bill paid for all but the final semester. It took 5 1/2 years, while working full time, of diligence, discipline and hard work to obtain my Master degree. While I do not compare my degree to a regionally accredited brick-and-mortar school degree, I am very satisfied, relieved and proud to have earned it. It has served me well thus far. My bachelor degree moved me from 32K per year to 51K per year and, more recently, my Master degree allowed me to apply for (and accept) a position that makes 62K per year. Please research before attending any school!

It is a pity Grantham is not Accredited Regionally I am a lifetime learner that has been attending college for 15 years now in addition to having a very successful career. I have attended 4 colleges/universities so far. I currently have 2 Associate’s, 1 Bachelor’s, and 1 Master’s all from regionally accredited and very respected colleges. With that said, I can say without a doubt that I have learned just as much if not more from my studies at Grantham. You talk about how Grantham is a joke, but I would submit to you that college in general now is a joke. That goes for regionally/nationally accredited degrees. College was never meant for the masses. It was meant for the few that really wanted to learn. To truly do this one must be committed to a lifetime of learning in addition to furthering the body of academic knowledge. Here is the scenario in a tradional degree mill university. You attend class, try a little and graduate. If you don't want to learn, you don't even really have to try. You are just basically paying your dues by enduring hours of lecture that is really not teaching anything. Real learning occurs through self study and through real life of that knowledge. In addition to my academic experience, I have also taught at the adult level for many years and have found that students who are taught independence in learning make for much better workers. Traditional schools are sorely lacking in this area. You can talk about regionally accredited colleges all day long but it is all a joke if the person attending has no desire to learn. If you attend a class and sell the book immediately afterwards then you fit in to this category. With that being said, I agree that a degree at Grantham has less value than a degree at a regionally accredited school but only because of tradition and ignorance. It is a pity Grantham is not regionally accredited because I have learned far more from them than I ever did in a traditional college. Because of time constraints in a traditional setting the instructor either does not use the text book at all or skips large sections in the interest of time. Despite skipping sections of the book, you often sit through hours of stories and political crap that add no value to the learning. At least at Grantham I am being tested on ALL the material in the text book and am not being led astray by an instructor that is politically motivated to further their own agenda or even worse by an instructor that really doesn’t even know the material themselves. Sure at Grantham students can take the easy way out and fake their way through the tests but you can also do this in a traditional college. If you don't believe me ask the average college grad to tell you anything they learned from a class 6 months after they finished it. I would be very surprised it they can tell you anything of value. Grantham on the other hand because of its lack of spoon feed learning and heavy reliance on independence a truly motivated Grantham graduate could easily tell you what they learned.

Computer Engineering Program I work as a digital Design consultant (VHDL - ASIC/FPGA design) and decided to take some online courses in computer Engineering. My original degree field is EE from USF, and so I wanted to get more formal software courses under my belt. I've been very happy with the technical content and organization of the course material. There is good useage of simulators, software IDE's, languages etc. Additionally all the required software tools & books are conveniently shipped to you as part of your tuition. The customer service varies. Sometimes it seems to take an excessive amount of time to get books for a new class, and it seems as if you are disconnected from the counselers. Then shortly after you'll get great service and direct support with periodic check-in's to make sure you are staying on track. Overall support has significantly improved since 2006 and is now quite good and consistent. I can't compare this to other online universities, but compared to a standard regional university I would recommend this school if you need the flexibility and are a self-starter. (e.g. can learn/study on your own)

Grantham rocks Grantham is a great school. I've been to both traditional "brick and mortar" universities and now online schools and Grantham's curriculum is so far the best I have had. Grantham puts more emphasis on the selected program of study as opposed to taking a bunch of general electives(philosophy, foreign language, etc.) that have nothing to do with your major. They do require some general electives as does any accredited higher learning institution, but considerably less than the traditional schools I have atteneded in the past.

Grantham is Accepted I graduated at the end of 2006 with a BS in Business Administration. People don't think the credits will transfer; I have to disagree. I am currently enrolled in a regionally accredited MBA program at the University of North Alabama. The MBA is also accredited by the ACBSP as well. I had one pre-requisite class, but because of my grades at Grantham, I was exempt from taking the GMAT. This society is too keen on giving up early. Every school has acceptance rules. If you don't think Grantham can help you, then my question to you is why did you enroll in the first place?

Worthwhile I have been with Grantham for over 2 years now. I have also attended a State University. Grantham allows the flexability for me to attend to school, without that I coud not. Sure, I have had a few problems with Grantham, but I have had the same problems at the State University.(e.g. Poor communication with instructors and administration problems.) No University is without its share of problems. The classwork is demanding if you put the effort into it. Despite what others say, I say you can not cheat at Calculus I or II. You have to know it. Online schools:"Its not easier, its just more conveniant." As far as National Accred vs. Regional Accred. I believe in National, it may not be that of Harvard, Penn State, or University of Wisconsin. But then again, I work 40 hours a week and support my family. The closest University to me is 2.5 hours away. B&M University's are not an option anymore, but I have been to one before. I believe the quality to be the same if not better at Grantham. Grantham offers what they promise. It is up to the student to get his/her degree. Just the same as everyone else.

Honest review per Virus request I graduated in '07. The only true positive I could find here is they do use REAL books and software (There is NO way I could have done this any other way). I received absolutely NO support from instructors, student progress representatives (of which I had more than I can count) or the with the use of the technology (educator system). I was even enrolled in classes that had no instructor at all. But for the real issue VALUE, it was okay because after all you get what you pay for...my $30,000 education will net me approximately $400,000 (that is an additional ($15,000 a year for the 25 years I have left in the workforce then added in an additional $25,000 for inflation) to me that is very very much worth the money spent. On a last note I have not been able to find a graduate school that will accept my GU degree and I can not justify the expense to continue on with this institution. (Although my employer does recognize my national degree I was told I would be earning more if it was a regional degree).

Stay Away If you value your time and money stay away from GU. Once they get your money then they forget about you. That is until it's time for you to register for your next class. Then they come out of the woodwork again. They are terribly slow in posting grades, will NOT answer emails or phone calls. It took me a month and a half to get a copy of my transcript (after they told me it would be 5-7 days). I had to finally call and talk to the provost to get it. No explination other than "we're sorry". Decent course material but the support staff (instructors, student progress rep's etc) are a joke and will hardly help you at all. Plus they are not regionally accredited and we all know what that means. STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!!

Great Opportunity Grantham provides a great on-line experience. Everyone has taken a few traditional courses that could have been completed in a month, but had to sit through class for 3-4 months to just waiting for it to end. Grantham is a self paced school allowing you to complete those "easy" classes in a short time. Some instructors are great and reply immediately and some take a couple days to reply. Overall, it's like any other college and I highly recommend Grantham to any working adult looking to further their education.

Look before you leap What a disaster. My grades were great. 3.8 all the way around but that was only because I taught myself. Teachers were no where to be found. Log on, take your test, and log out. Just don't expect any assistance from anyone. Like others have said, the degree is pretty much just a piece of paper, because Grantham is not looked upon all that highly by most other schools and a lot of other employers. It may help me get a job, but I'm playing craps and rolling the dice because not a lot of people respect a DETC degree and with good reason.

Well Satisfied w/ My CHALLENGE The online education has been the challenge! It is hard to feel as though I am as successful as I would like to. If you do not excel this way watch out but there are programs available through this school so I HIGHLY encourage you to look at this institution. I am sure their programs will be of great reward to you personally and professionally. I have already been awarded my A.S. while working toward my B.S. and have had ZERO out of pocket expense. a great university Grantham is a very good school!!!! I'm in the military and it cost my TA $250/credit hour. With the help of Grantham they payed for the remainder of my tuition = $0 out-of-pocket expenses for me! The electrical engineering tech course allowed me to gain a vast amount of knowledge. Also, there are hands-on projects too. Its very challenging especially the programming. I was able to apply what I learned on my job and my boss is very impressed by my new technical background. One thing I would like to comment on is although Grantham's cirricula is ABET based I would like them to persue official ABET certification. They can do it! Otherwise, no complaints here.

EET Overall, a horrible experience. Severe problems with support. Lack of return phone calls or e-mails from staff and little support from teachers. I felt like they only cared about getting my money and once the check was written, I was written off. Like everyone else has said, you will have major problems transfering your credits anywhere else and will have difficuly convincing anyone that you went to a "real" school. I've had employers outright say that they will not hire anyone with a degree like this, and others were very sceptical. I'm sure I was looked over by employers that never even gave me a call back. Bottom line: Look before you leap.

great school! Grantham is a very good school. Overall: I gave them a "9". Always room for improvement but still a great school. Materials: "9" The materials are new and free! Teachers: "8" I would like to see teachers particpate more by creating there own webpages for the corses they teach. Once created, it would be nice to visit the site for reference, email address, phone number, frequently asked questions, etc. The teachers are top notch from other top universities holding either masters or PhDs. Institution: Leadership has revamped the engineering cirricula with new ABET standards. I would like to see a newsletter from them stating what's new or processes they're looking to implement or avenues where I the stident could make suggestions. Support: "9" Staff is very encouraging, they get a lot of gripe but when i speak with anyone they're always polite and helpful. Value: It’s valuable indeed! The dept of defense recognizes the school and I could get a GS job tomorrow holding a degree from Grantham Univeristy. I've done my homework and made a very good choice. Many employers including the government realize the importance of an accredited degree and do not discriminate on its type of accreditation. So what its nationally accredited; I would like to see them as both so perhaps one day they will be. Use of Technology: Grantham uses software technology that interfaces directly with your computer. I've become efficient with many programs e.g. C/C++, MS Project, using multimeters, oscopes, and creating electrical schematics, etc. I would recommend use of videos. I've read comments about cheating. Cheating is going to and does happen at any college you attend. Is is easy at Grantham-No! The tests are taken online and Granthams policy is you're not allowed to use text, notes, etc. Remember, you can cheat at any university but you can't cheat yourself or your next job once you're hired and expected to do the job. I would like Grantham to go ahead for regional accreditation and ABET in 2008. I would like to see GU have more undergraduate (e.g. an Electrical and Computer Engineering, Healthcare Administration, Public/Human Resource Management, Biomedical Engineering, and Biomedical Engineering Technology)and PhD/DBA programs (e.g. Management of Engineering and Technology, Business, IT, Computer/Security, etc.) GU is #1!

Worth it for the right kind of person It' like many of the other reviews state. If you are a self-starter who takes responsibility for your education, then Grantham is a good fit. If you are the kind of person that needs constant feedback and praise from your instructors, then it may not be so good. I am in the MBA program and about 1/3 finished. The responses back can be slow at times. I've had to wait up to 6 days (not completely unreasonable, but not horrible either). The textbooks are graduate level textbooks that are used in other universities. I really appreciate the fact that all textbooks and materials are included in the price of tuition. I can tell you there is nothing like buying one or two books at $80-$100 each plus software at who knows how much to really put a dent in your pocket book. Overall for my needs and career progression, Grantham is the perfect fit. As others say, do your research before you commit to a university. Find one that meets your style of learning.

Not worth your time and effort First let me say this isn't a "bitter" review. I have recently found(thank god) that my 75 credits I took at Grantham will apply at AMU, so I'm ditching. The coursework is like learning how to pick your nose, all open book testing. At the time I was taking it I was thinking "Cool...this is easy" but you are really getting no educational value out of them. Then as I got into the programming courses, trying to get ahold of an instructor was incredible. My Student Progress Rep ensured me that he has over 150 students, that my problem would be handled when it could be, until it was time to sign a TA request form, then it was all smiles. They are on the ripoff report for the way they treated their employees after Hurricane Katrina, I encourage all to read that. I've had 4 new student progress representatives in the last year alone, how does that say about their turnover? National accredidation is nothing compared to Regional accredidation. Don't think "A bachelors degree is a bachelors degree", as I'm finding out employers do research the education you put on your resume. Bottom line, you are only cheating yourself by going to a "college" that gives credit through open book testing. I have written base officials to have Grantham removed from ESO offices as well, and encourage you to do the same.

Not good for inexperienced students Overall a good tech school. I don't see this as a school that will land a job by itself, as there are too many well-known universities that will do that for you. This is a school for someone that has been in the electronics field for a number of years, has military training (or vocational/on-the-job), and simply is looking to "check the box". Transfer of credit/degree is a real challenge due to the DETC accreditation, but it can be done. The EET Alumni are super helpful, and will offer more support than the instructors have time for. The instructor-to-student ratio is abysmal, so don't expect any special attention. This is a particular problem when attempting to complete C, C++, Calculus I, Calculus II, Control Systems, and Signals & Systems Theory (SDP).

Grantham - Not if you value YOUR time First let me say this is a 100% HONEST review, I am a current student here at Grantham, and sad to say I will be switching to AMU just after 2 classes. The horrible support I have received is just amazing. Like most people have said no problem collecting your tution but after that its a crap shoot. I was completing my Criminal Justice degree and ready to take one of my finals. Set it up with my proctor, Who is a university teacher and thier time is just as valuable, sent in my paperwork and called to make sure they got it. They did and come Friday (exam time) my EXAM WAS NEVER SENT TO MY PROCTOR.....Oops they forgot!! What the heck! This is an institution of higher learning but not responsibility! Oh and I have turned in 3 homework assignments by which thier policy states the instructor has to grade within 3 days, yeah its been 2 weeks now. Hmmmm so when you see all these reviews on Grantham and why they are the NUMBER ONE rated WORST online shcool on this site.....THERE IS A REASON!!!! GO elsewhere, dont waste your tution or military TA here. Thank god I only took 2 classes! Its to bad too they had a lot of potential but it just doesnt seem to care!

credits will not transfer and expensive Grantham is not cheap. At $250 a credit hour, you would think the credits would be worth something, but they are not. No legitimate graduate school will touch my credits. No support from staff or teachers. I was really dissapointed. Do yourself a favor and look into other options. If you must get a degree online, look into Fort Hayes State University. A lot cheaper and Regional. No one will think twice about accepting a degree from there.

Credits in California Credits will not transfer to california public schools, but will transfer to private schools. WTF? I can get into MIT or Harvard, but not CSUN? Overall, I have applied 70% of what I have learned at Grantham to the real world, but I wish I had more options for graduate studies. At $250/credit hour, I guess that is the trade-off; compatibility for price. If you have the time, or money, go regional and find ABET. If not, Grantham makes for a good, cheap, alternative to others.

Credits wont transfer I completed my Associates in less than a year. I was really happy with that. Then I went to transfer to a 4 year school and not one school I spoke with would accept a Grantham associates for their program. They all told me that I would have to start from scratch. When I first enrolled, I was told that transfering credits would be no problem, but I guess I was lied to because they will not. Now that I am done with my associates, I can not get any support from the school. I get calls all the time asking for me to re-enroll. All they want is my credit card number. At first, I did not care about the lack of support because I was flying through my classes and making great time, but now it bothers me because I spent a lot of time and money on this and I they won't even return my calls. Absolutly no service after the sale. It felt just like the used car lot that others have spoke about.

Not happy with the service Support? What support. E-mails went unanswered and phone calls went unreturned. I was truly on my own for the majority of my time enrolled at Grantham. The text books were good. They were the same text books that you would use at any school, but it goes right back to support. The best text book in the world won't help you if you can not get anyone to answer your questions. Some of the teachers were good, most were just there to grade papers and hand out grades. What I learned, I learned on my own. Overall, I was not happy with my time at Grantham. Now I hear that it's not a very respected degree to have so I'm glad I left. I'm waiting to see if the new school I enrolled in will accept my Grantham credits. From what I have read here, they probably will not.

My experience has been positive I enrolled with Grantham back in 2005. I started with just a few credits and am already almost done with my BSBA (in just over two years!) During my time at Grantham I've experienced several changes, all for the better. When I first started, it normally took about 24 hours for my SPR to get back in touch with me to respond to my questions. Over the last year, I've noticed that their response time has been only a couple of hours (if not immediate!) My employer has already given my a pay raise just based on the fact that I'm working on my degree AND they've agreed to give me the promotion that I've been waiting for once I've completed the degree. I would highly recommend this school to others, as long as they're self-motivated and have the discipline to work on their own. It can definitely lead you to your degree quicker than most schools.

You must be motivated and a self starter in order to achieve your goals. Challenging, but rewarding Great value; I picked up 20% on my salary with the AAS EET, and have 30% waiting for me once I finish the BS. The math courses were tough to beat, but the student body via the forums were extremely helpful. Some faculty were top-notch, others were absentee-landlords. I wish they had clearer standards to hold the student progress department to. Sometimes it is on auto-pilot, and everything works. Other times (the exception in my case) they aren't as proactive as I would like them to be. I loved the use of the A86/D86 programs for Microprocessor Engineering. I also like the fully-registered version of Visual Studio 2005 for C and C++. I wish they would offer up a copy of Maple or Mathmatica for precalc, calc, and calc II. I really liked the fully registered version of MATLAB. The education is top-notch technology wise; I apply everything I have learned to date on a daily basis at work. I truly believe this has made me an effective field engineer/Technologist. Overall, I am grateful that an institution such as Grantham exists; I would not have been able to get this far in my career without their course of instruction. I still don't trust the proctored exam process; I have my proctor keep copies of my answers until the classes have cleared; I have heard many horror stories of tests being lost, causing nasty delays. I would like to see regional & ABET accreditation for GU, I think they are the most qualified candidate as far as distance education is concerned.

Grantham University I have attended regional and nationally accredited schools...public non profit, private for profit, online for profit etc... I have worked in all of these sectors as well and have even worked for a non profit turned for profit with an online component. I currently run a brokerage that sells schools of all of the above. I have two degrees...of which I finished while working full time, with a family. It was not always the best experience but that did not prevent me from finishing. One is not necessarily better then the other but the common theme I keep heaing is that somebody did you wrong. Do your homework when looking for a school... enroll and work hard to finish your degree. The longer you complain about this and that, the longer you will go without a degree. The school industry is a business and you need to remember that. If you don't like the service then don't spend your money there. But it is a business, a highly regulated one at that...moreso then any other so if you really have a bonified isssue then I recommend you take it up with the regulatory bodies that oversee their operation. If a school is not in compliance, they will cease to exist. Have a pleasant weekend!!!

For those who TRULY want to do it alone... Grantham is really not an intitution of higher learning, it is a business which is ran like a used car lot. Once they get your money, forget about customer service until it is once again time to enroll. Most of the undergraduate work I did was completely on my own. I would log on and take the test and received the grade right away...no real feedback. To be fair, during my first semester for my MBA, the instructor, with one exception, were very good an provided alot of feedback.

Dont believe the hype The books and technology were average. Nothing special, just standard text books. The technology was decent, but I had some problems submitting course work. The teachers would not receive the information 100% of the time and I had to re-send it. The teachers were below average in my opinion. It sometimes took days or even weeks for me to receive any answers to my questions. I would say at least 50% of the time, I would receive a generic answer that had little to do with my question. I received very little support from the school. When it was time to re-enroll, I had no problem getting in touch with them. They would call several times a week and leave messages. When I had a problem with submitting my tests, I could not get an answer for over a week. I also could not keep the same progress advisor for more than a semester at a time. I gave "value" a poor grade because I am having problems finding other school that will accept my degree so I can get my Masters now. I'm also having a hard time finding an employer that will accept a National Accredited degree. All in all, I'm not happy with my experience. If I were to do it all again, I would have went with another school.

Needs Improvment Overall: I couldn’t use my degree for progression in the Air Force. I know I will have problems in the civilian world. Materials: “GOOD”. Teachers: Need improvement. They need to be held accountable for not meeting student’s needs (i.e. responding to emails). I had an instructor tell me to hire a tutor. I struggled through math class on my own...no help! BTW...not all instructors were bad. Dr. Sutter was great and there have been other good ones. If you’re out there “thank you!” Institution: Leadership needs to wake up and smell the coffee. You need to listen to its students, instructors, and staff for advice. It’s called process of improvement! Support: I gave them a "6". I rated it not for the 3 bad instructors I had but for the majority of the instructors that pushed me, emailed me back to do better, or study harder. Thank you! I did learn a lot from them. Overall, the adjunct instructors I had were very knowledgeable and supporting. Grantham should listen to them and take some advice. Value: It’s poor! I have not advanced in the Air Force with this degree. I have applied for State Jobs in IL...no luck there. It looks as if the only job I can get is the one I currently have. Wake up Grantham...you students need both Regional and ABET accreditation. I have been told by Grantham, We’re obtaining both since 2001. It isn't going to happen...bad on you for not keeping your word Grantham...shame on you! Use of Technology: It could use improvement. I t does use very good technology for software via distance learning. I think using some hands-on circuit breadboards, multimeter, and a hand-held o-scope would be very beneficial. Also, use video for instructing students on-line. My comments about cheating: I want to say I never cheated and for those that did...shame on you! You know Grantham’s "Code of Conduct" and its policy about cheating. It’s like any other school; if you’re caught you get in trouble. That should fall more on the person than Grantham because you can not get through life or your next job if you’re a cheater. I would like to see from Grantham: Obtain Regional and ABET at the same time. Offer a Master's program for Engineering. Start an undergrad program for Electrical and Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, and Biomedical Engineering Technology. My final comments: Grantham if you can hear me...you know my thoughts since I constantly email about "what my expectations are from you" so wake up and smell the darn coffee. Also, for current Grantham students if you’re going to complain this is a good place, ripoffreport, and the Better Business Bureau. My advice to students is complaining to Grantham’s President, Dean and Provost and let them know just how you feel about the school. Also, let them know you’re unhappy and if things do not change for the better and soon you will take your money elsewhere. Grantham…its time to act now before it’s too late!

The courses are challenging, but it's worth it The courses are very challenging and require a ton of self-motivation to complete. The electronics labs are done with MATLAB and Electronics Workbench and it would not hurt to have practical experience as well, but most students with a hands-on military background should not have a problem. The knowledge gained from courses taken at Grantham has served me well in my professional career and have been applicable to my field. My instructors were comparable to other universities (most are excellent resources and answer questions thoroughly within a few days), but it did help to utilize outside resources such as the open-courseware notes on MIT's website and the course notes at Stanford and UMich. Overall, I'm satisfied with the level of instruction and am proud to be a Grantham Alumnus.

Grantham bad news Grantham is just about the most disturbing thing I have suffered in my educational quest. They offered much and delivered little, i actually started looking around when a professor from grantham disclosed to me that the school was useless. She did this as she started moving on in the world. I found one accredited school that would take Grantham credit but only after I wrote "learning papers" detailing knowledge gaines from each class and passing testing. The Grantham experience was so bad my educational officer has stopped all tuition assistance and GI bill approvals for GU in the state of Oregon.

Problems and More Problems I earned the BSEET degree from Grantham in 2006. Materials: Some of my early classes used the dated Grantham softbound booklets, but later classes used actual college texts. Teachers: Unlike some of the other reviewers, I had no trouble reaching the instructors, and they were responsive/helpful. Institution: Administratively, Grantham was absolutely abysmal. Keep copies of everything! Value: WARNING! It appears most graduate schools and many employers refuse to accept this degree!!! For example, a "technology" degree is not considered a professional engineering degree by the US government, and you'll be told to "start over." I wish I would have known this before I invested the time and money. Also, Grantham claims to be working on ABET accreditation, but I'll believe it when I see it (they've been working on it for years now). Use of Technology: Used MicroSoft Visual Studio for programming projects, MultiSim to simulate/test circuits, and MathWorks Matlab for higher level math courses. All good! Bottom line: What a shame! Grantham offers a decent curriculum and a real chance to learn electronics engineering. In fact, a professional electrical engineer from a regionally accredited school was monitoring my Grantham coursework and thought it quite appropriate in both depth and breadth. Too bad it won't count for much. Save yourself some grief by sticking with regionally accredited schools!

Completed Degree in September '06 &still no degree I completed my degree in September 2006. When I submitted my diploma request I was told that I need to take some exams from a preceeding semster becuase Grantham did not have them. Lucky me, I had a certified mail reciept and found out who signed for them and where they were sent to. I was then told that the exams were found but had to wait for the grading process. When I inquired about how long the grading process was going to take some how only one of my exams was found and Grantham was still looking for the rest. I then email the student director. Mr. Colon emailed me back saying that my exams have been graded and I should receive my diploma soon. That was in January. I called Mr. Colon in March to ask about my diploma. He told my that it would be on its way. It is now April and still no diploma. Is there some way to shut down Grantham Univesity? I wish I had my time back so I could go to a different school. I WILL NEVER USE ANOTHER ONLINE UNIVERSITY AGAIN!

Complain the RIGHT way I've read a LOT of complaints about Grantham, but nobody seems to be doing anything about it. I'm having problems with them too. Here's who I'm complaining to: DETC: Complaints: If you have a complaint about a DETC-accredited institution, please contact Adriene Crossland, Assistant to the Director of Accreditation. 202-234-5100 Ext. 105 Also, give these folks a try: North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI) Arizona State University PO Box 871008 Tempe, AZ 85287-1008 SERVICEMEMBERS & VETERANS HAVE ANOTHER AVENUE: Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges (SOC) Ms. Joyce Larson SOCNAV Project Director larsonj@aascu.org 800-368-5622 202-667-0079 FAX 202-667-0622 Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges 1307 New York Avenue, NW Fifth Floor Washington, DC 20005-4701 Grantham won't care what someone says about them through bulletin boards, but they will care once complaints are processed through "official" channels. If everyone who has had a problem with Grantham complain the RIGHT way, they would either change their ways or have their DETC accreditation revoked. Once that happens, they won't be eligible for military money. Peter Davidson

College is a Business period When a College, any College only accepts 25 Semester Hours of Transferable Credit yet you have over 200 Semester Hours of Accredited Military Courses on your Smart Transcripts/ACE Guide Manual you realize that College is nothing more than a business. Colleges don't accept transfer credits because there is no money in it. Every enlisted man or women working in the military today should be given no less than a 4 year college degree for a tour of duty in a combat zone. GI Bill/VA has never worked as designed and to think we have veterans coming back from the war who are now working at McDonald's and trying to go to college so they can compete...And who are they competing with?...The son or daughter who smoked dope all day and went to school at Chico State and who's Mommy and Daddy paid tuition....If you can get a degree at Grantham and it gets you a job that requires a degree, then for gods sake go get it...It's all BS anyway get it?

Drop in Quaility of Service I can't believe I bought into them. What they offer has gone downhill since the move to KC. Save yourself from the hassle and put you money into a better school.

Not too happy I'm not that happy of a camper right now. I graduated from Grantham about 6 months ago. I'm still in the military but looking to get my Masters before I get out in a few years. I can not find a University that will accept this degree as a pre-requisite for their program. I'm not happy at all.

You can do better than Grantham The school is DETC-accredited, which qualifies for military purposes. However, if you are planning to transfer to a regionally accredited school to continue or finish your education, check in advance, since the LARGE MAJORITY will not take your credits. My estimate is about 10-15% will accept them in some form, and none of them are really top-tier schools. The learning process is take multiple choice, open book exams, then hope a professor actually contacts you. So some of the problems are that the texts aren't very good. They aren't standard college texts, they are something that looks to be generated by Grantham themselves, more softbound, looseleaf collections of stuff than real texts. The 2nd problem is that there is absolutely no instructor interaction. Send in your multiple choice assignment into the virtual inbox and that is it. 3rd, I was in an Intro to Business class where student emails were unanswered for 2+ months. Other students were contacting other professors for help with their questions. 4th, it's expensive and I don't know why anyone would attend this school when there are cheaper, more accepted institutiobns out there with a better learning platform.

It is what it is. It is what it is. An online school that helps you to further your education. Some complain that they do not hold our hand to complete the degree, but I went to the large schools and never spoke to an advisor or a Dean or the President. At least at Grantham I have done all of those things on many occasions.

Worthless degree / worthless school What a complete waste of my time. I learned nothing except how to read a text book, open a booklet and take an open book test. I thought I was going to be challenged, but I was wrong. I'm dropping out as soon as I complete this last class. Maybe, just maybe, I can transfer my credits to another school, although I have had no luck finding one that will take Grantham credits.

Stay away from Grantham I have tried for the past two months to get simple grade reports. This place is horrible....worst experience has happened in the last 8 months. Prior to this, things ran so smooth. Now, I find out most credits do not transfer and most employees will not except this degree. This place should be called a diploma mill and should be expose as a fake. Thank god I have not finished my bachelors and can have transferred to a new university and TA is still available for me. Don't waste your time at this school and don't waste your money. I gave this place numerous times to correct the situation and today I stil do not have a grade report and the TA office is all over me. Trust me, you don't want the hassle of explaining this to your chain of command!

RUN FROM GRANTHAM LIKE THE PLAGUE Grantham took my Military Tuition Assistance and Mongomery G.I. Bill Money and I can't even transfer my credits to a reputable school. I have wasted so much time with this joke of a school. These people are focused on calling me only to make me reenroll in the next set of courses. Advisors change like they change there underwear. I can't believe this....This school should be brought to light immediately..I say expose to Dateline or 20/20. Please Don't ENROLL or reenroll with this school.

Criminal Justice degree - waste of time A horrible experience. You can't get in touch with the teachers, or support staff. They are only there to hassle you to re-enroll after you complete your semester. I never received any help from them at any other time. All tests are open book, even the final exams. They allow you to pick your proctor for your final exams. Please, tell me no one cheats when their buddy is the proctor. Essentially, they send you a book and some Grantham printed booklets and wait for you to complete it. Then, they call to hassle you to re-enroll. Nationally accredited so most other school will not accept them and you will not be able to transfer to another school when you get sick of dealing with their crap. A worthless school, with worthless support, generating a worthless degree. Sign up at your own risk.

Grantham is a waste of $$$ Materials - Not even real texts, some Grantham generated junk. Open book multiple choice exams. Teachers - Slow or non-existent response. Helpful when you get ahold of them, but their are 80-some students in my section. Support - Non-existent except for cashing my check. Value - It's not regionally accredited and still expensive. Credits will not generally transfer, but they'll put a good spin on that. Use of Technology - I could take open book multiple choice exams without the Web with alot less hassle. Booooooooooooo!
