I am currently enrolled in the Criminal Justice program through Lincoln College Online. I just read an article in the June 2010 edition of Good Housekeeping called "School of Hard Knocks" which focuses on the fraud of online schools. Also reading everyone elses reviews above has me quite freaked out that if i continue my degree that i will be going no where if its not "regionally" accredited. I'm very curious to find out more information from John Ashton who posted back in 2009 as to if he was ale to do anything with his degree. I'm only 6 weeks in and would prefer to withdraw if in fact this degree will get me no where. If anyone else has any information especially anyone who has graduated from this school with the degree i am going for i would love to hear your feedback. thank you!!

Taylor,

Get out while you can. Read my response to Jessica. That degree is worthless!

Their health information technology degree online program is regionally accredited, but the others like the criminal justice, graphic design, web design, business management etc are nationally accredited (offered at Lincoln college of technology). You have to check out Lincoln college of New England for more regionally accredited programs i guess. But their site does say which programs are regionally or nationally accredited so don't be mad because you never read it.

I am a current student and at the moment withdrawing, because I just found out they are a fraud. Be careful if you receive any type of government funding to attend Lincoln. I have a very good reason to believe they are not being honest with the funding and their costs. I actually (although late) just checked them out on the BBB(better business bureau) website and they're grade is an F. They are not in compliance with licensing laws and regristration requirements and it is known for fraudulant business practices, as stated by The Better Business Bureau. just be leary of this so called school.

Lincoln is perhaps a good school if you just want to learn for self enrichment purposes. However, it is unlikely their degrees would work for you in the real world because they are not regionally accredited. This accreditation is becoming more and more mandatory for most jobs everywhere. I would not suggest going there because of their lack of regional accreditation.

I have called and spoke to the admissions counselor and they were very helpful. We were on the phone for over an hour while she explained all of the different aspects of the program. My only concern is how the program really is? Would anyone recommend taking it? Any help on this subject would greatly be appreciated.

My sister is enrolled at Lincoln. She seems to really like it. I saw one of her classes and it was really interactive. I thought she would just be reading tons of stuff off her computer screen. Her classes are animated with voice and quizzes.

She said her student support people are really helpful and loves her professors. I barely spoke to my professors when I went to college!

She said she went to their website and had to speak to her admissions counselor to get all the info before they sent info out. Probably to save money on postage for people who aren't serious about the school. And I know they are accredited, otherwise my sister wouldn't have enrolled! I think some of their programs are regionally accredited and others are nationally. Not sure.

Hope that helps. Good luck!

Lincoln is typical in the sense that they will not mail out any information about their school or programs to prospective students until they have spoken to an enrollment representative first. The biggest thing you need to know about Lincoln is that they are NOT regionally accredited. The school is like Penn Foster, Asworth College and many other correspondence based schools in that they are only NATIONALLY accredited and not regional. It is difficult to find out any info about them (tuition, policies etc.) because as I said before they prefer you to call and speak directly with an enrollement rep. when inquiring about their school. These issues should serve as a warning to those who are serious about seeking a degree that will be recognized with prospective employers.

Jessica please beware of this school. I was 4 credits away from my associate degree in CJ and found out in my search to get my Bachelor that NONE of my credits would transfer because they are a nationally accredited school. Employers will laugh at you and you will not be able to transfer these credits. I tried to at a local university here and at other online universities. I suggest you drop out ASAP. They also took out loans for more than my tuition expenses and I am dealing with that now.

I spoke with a admissions person today, and he told me that their Health Information Technology program was regionally accredited. It is also AHIMA accredited. I am not sure why certain programs would be regionally accredited and others not.

Called their office and I found out that their tuition is $605 per credit hour. Are you kidding me! You can find alternatives to this school where you get a real education for less than that.
