Troy University-Main Campus Reviews:

Weak academic, awful staff
June 8, 2011
I got both bacholer and master degree in Troy main campus. I love the school deeply. However, my personal feeling toward University means nothing to those staff here. They are not really service student. I have been literally humiliated by those staff here in Troy. I don't know whether Troy has really "Academic". Because all the class is just about the textbook. I learned almost everything all by myself except few courses. When I finish ...

Great Place to Get an Online Degree
October 10, 2010
The Troy eCampus is a great way to get your degree from a legitimate respected institution online. The classes are challenging, the teachers are real, published academics, and you'll have a degree that means something. I have experience at B&M tier 2 state institution, online for-profit, and Troy eCampus. Troy compares favorably with my experience at a B&M state school. The for-profit I attended was a regionally accredited school but was nowhere near the same ...

wonderful
April 20, 2010
My time at Troy has been with their e-campus which doesn't have a review spot. I am a soldier who is within two classes of completing my degree and after 50 hours at Troy I feel that my degree will be at a par with any University on the planet. The teachers have been extremely helpful for someone who is constantly on the move, like our modern soldiers. The value of the institution is in ...

Working fine for me
February 21, 2010
I have been with ecampus since May 09 in three different states (AZ, NC and GA) and I have not had trouble worth complaining about. The instructors are sound and provide a great deal of help, if needed. The course materials have been wonderful but not quite sure it is graduate material (most likely the material would be the same used in an undergraduate class). Advisors aren't forthcoming, therefore, it would behoove you to call, ...

Was it just a coincidence?
May 9, 2009
Their student interface was always down. For classes like Biology that had an online science lab, there was little -no support for technical support or teacher guidance. One professor gave me an F on my proctored final. He said he did not recieve it. It was proctored by TROY staff. I also had no one call me back on so many occasssions it's unbelievable. Me and several others were talking in the gym about finishing school ...

Troy University provides quality education
November 17, 2008
I attended Troy University via the Augusta site in Augusta, GA and majored in Business Administration. I found Troy University to be very educational and revived my hunger for education. Prior to Troy, I had attended college for nine years and had attended four different institutions. Different colleges have different reputations, but regardless of which school one attends, two plus two will always equal four has been my experience. I don't really know of the ...

Good teachers, horrible institution
June 17, 2008
I attended Troy at a branch on the west coast; Ft. Lewis, WA, to be exact. What a miserable experience that was! The Army paid my tuition through tuition assistance. So I was not liable for the tuition. However, due to trying to plan my wedding, which was to take place 3000 miles away, I had to drop out during one semester. Since I dropped out, I had to re-pay the Army for the tuition. ...

They only want you money when it comes to the online program. They have me taking classes that I already have credit, the reason they gave is because it's past 5 years since I've had these classes..It's about the money! Now I've taken two classes both times the professors could not show me how they calculated my grades on top of that Grades are missing from assignments because they did not grade them.... TRoy University Atlanta Site. Dr. Connie Nott BUS 5508.. Two other Professors to be Named Soon. Save your Money and do not Attend that School.

I graduated from Troy University, Troy campus in the 1970's. I find myself at a disadvantage compared to graduates of the University of Alabama and Auburn University. The alumni chapters of these Universities are simply more active and more supportive. The closest Chapter of Troy University does not have the members nor the activity of alumni chapters of the other two Universities in the State of Alabama. I feel that I am at a distinct disadvantage from alumni of other Universities. Troy University is simply overlooked.

I have attended Troy university in montgomery since 2009. This year I found myself waiting an unusal amount of time for my award letter. I called them three times and everytime I talked to them they told me that I havent waited long enough,to give it more time and that there was no reason why i havent recieved my fa. So i waited a month, checked my web express and called again. I finally got in contact with linda, who i guess was reponsible for processing my FAFSA,she told me that my verification info hadn't crossed her desk and that i needed to send her my tax info again. So I called the office that i had taken my tax info to and they basically told me that linda's office lost it. Like ID theft doesn't exist. I have about a semester left and im really apprehensive about what kind of trouble their actions may have caused me.

I've attended Troy Atlanta ecampus classes for two years now, and I cannot wait to graduate and never have to deal with that place ever again. The staff is ridiculous, they always seem like a bunch of weeble wobbles, running into each other and never really accomplishing anything. I've been stood up for meetings on their campus, treated like a jerk for calling, can't get answers to rather simple questions - it's amazing these people have been able to retain their jobs.

As far as the professors go - they don't give a crap about the students. It's obvious that the online classes are side jobs for all of them...there is no feedback, no development, no understanding, no communication. Most of the students are barely literate and the professors never even bring it up - I should be making straight A's compared to these people...but I'm not...even with grades that are A's on my assignments and papers. But at the end of class? I receive a B or C. I think it's just the general grade they give out. They treat the students like they're dumb pieces of crap (some are, but not all of us) and then sit back and enjoy the salary that we pay interest on. Nice!

I would save my money and attend school somewhere else, if I were you. I plan on getting my graduate degree after I graduate from Troy - but I won't be getting it from Troy.

Ok I must say I adore my school. I love it! I came from Georgia State University (undergrad) and my classes are way more challenging and are much more interactive. I feel like the staff, professors and students have become like a family. I don't take online classes though, all face to face so I'm sure that makes a difference. The professors want you to "get it" and show no mercy. Isn't that what grad school is supposed to be about?! I feel like I am really EARNING my degree. Sometimes I wish classes were easier so I could just "chill" and skate my way through, but at the end of the day I'm learning something very valuable from this experience. Demetrius is the best and so is Mrs. Baker as far as staff goes... but everyone is generally friendly and willing to go above and beyone to help. Sometimes they get busy because there are so many students...so you really have to do your part to get administrative issues resolved...which is not the best thing in the world but it is understandable! RIGHT? I think so. I love love love my school. PS i swear im not a staff member. TROY ATLANTA NEEDS A BIGGER CAMPUS! But our concept is so cute...we really have a campus inside an office bldg. Once u enter it's like "TROY WORLD" :)

I have been attending Troy for three terms. I have to say the experience has been leaps ahead of for-profits. Weird that people's #1 complaint would be about the customer service of their support staff. Most of the people with complaints I see on here would probably be happier at a UoP or APUS. You are not going to find someone that will proactively hold your hand with things like financial aid and degree requirements. Ive never had trouble finding help when I've needed it, though. If you need a lot of attention from school faculty to figure out financial aid forms and degree requirements than a for profit school, and not Troy, is definitely the way to go. Ive attended a for-profit for a few terms before attending Troy and hated it. Sure the people were nice who answered the phone but the quality of the classes was a joke, and more often then not taught by some clown who got his PhD (if they even had one) from another for-profit.
As far as the things that matter in a university; most of the professors Ive had at Troy have been legitimate, published, academics. The vast majority have PhDs, and not from some crappy for-profit. The course work is challenging and appropriate for college level. Don't let the diploma mill caliber students talk you out of attending a legitimate university because they don't like the way some work-study answered the phone.

I have been attending Troy University Ecampus since Fall 2008. I am graduating this winter (2010), and I would have to say that the online experience at Troy is second to none. Dont think for a second that you will breeze through their online classes. The classes are challenging, the workload is heavier than what you would normally get in a regular class setting. Remember that you are doing a full semester worth of work in nine weeks. Outside of the workload.. I have truly enjoyed my time at Troy. The majority of the teachers really do help you and the staff is pretty helpful. As long as you keep track of deadlines and starting dates you should have no problems. An education is what you make it. Of course there used to be ways around really learning what you are supposed to, but in the long run you are not hurting Troy or your professors you are hurting and cheating yourself. I would recommend this school to anyone in search of a convenient, and challenging place to learn. Bloom where you are planted! Go Trojans!

I have been attending Troy University's Ecampus since August 2009. Currently I am enrolled in the Master of Public Administration program and will graduate in December. Prior to taking online courses, I assumed they would not be challenging. As I began my studies at Troy I found this was not the case. I feel as if the courses are not only challenging but educational. I believe they have been more challenging due to the short time frame and limited interaction. Examples of coursework includes chapter readings, projects group and individual, proctored exams (Big Brother is watching), article and case analyses, 25-50 pg research papers, etc.
As an ecampus student you have to be very disciplined and assertive. The one thing I can say about being an Ecampus student, which should be obvious when enrolling in an online program, is that there is minimal interaction and formed relationships between the student and professors, financial aid counselors, etc. I have found that you have to make an effort to establish a relationship with these individuals and make your voice be heard. Any problems that I have faced have been the same that I faced as an undergraduate student at a traditional university. Overall I would say Troy University is worth the commitment, time, and money.

I agree, Troy University is after your cash only. There is one instructor (Gaddis) that actually cares about his students. Their business school has one goal, and that is to have a high CPA pass rate. If the material isn't on that exam, you’re not learning it in their class!!!

Cluskey is the absolute worst - he has no emotion and tends to come off extremely belittling I've never met such a little man (and I am referring to character)! I emailed him once about a minor scheduling conflict and he replied back with the attitude of an 8th grader...you would think you were talking to a child...COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL! Don't make a mistake because he accepts nothing less than perfection. He makes it almost impossible for students to excel in his class and is not flexible at all. He should not be instucting online classes!!!

Also, the staff is horribly trained, you can call 5 different times and get different answers for the same question - I've never seen a business run like Troy. I think they need to be reminded that there are so many more options for students these days...

I have completed the majority of my bachelor's in Business Management through Troy's eCampus program. Overall, I have been pleased with the whole process. I have attended the eCampus for a little over two years now and have been accepted into two law schools, one of which I will be attending in the fall. The only problem I can see is that the staff is not that great. They are unsure of many of the questions I have asked them, usually won't return phone calls, etc. Overall though, I have been happy with my experience at Troy. It takes A LOT of discipline to do this online, but you can get a quality education.

I am now attending Troy University Ecampus. Since the beginning of may 2009 I have been having so many issues with Troy. starting out with to my finacial aid, For one I had speak to so many people just to figure out was going on and the person that was handling my finacial aid didnt even wont to talk. she always gave the phone to someone eles in her office that had nothing to do with finacial. all she did was transfer messages back and fourth between us two.. very annoying. Second, I was highly pissed because my GPA had went from a 3.0 to a 2.25 due to the protocal final. My teacher told us to email the copy or the form once we filled it out, when I did i still wasnt able to take my test. so there for I recieved a F. the sad thing is. I email my teacher and told her that I didnt take the test because after I had sent in the form no one never called nor sent anything back about a test. she told me that she told me that she never recieved the form from me. OMG! I had to send her the confirmation letter back and guess what the teacher never replyed back. it was the original confirmation letter to her. so Not only did my GPA drop. my grades did to make all B's now I gotta work extra hard not to deal with the protocal test. I hate that!!!!

As a graduate of Troy U I must say that this institution has deminished in reputation over the last several years.By taking more students than they can handle you end up planning your own educational plan due to lack of staff.I would disagree with the other post-I didn't have a problem getting a call back from the FINANCIAL AID DEPARMENT.I actually called FA to get me in contact with my advisor.I started with troy and then discovered the nightmare so I stayed because it was cheaper.I don't know if my instructors really exsisted since they rarely call you back.Maybe there is just a Teacherbot for all the classes that responds to specific key words.I do agree that classmates often complained about the technology, teachers, staff, financial aid etc.Either way I'm happy I am done with them and would not recommend Troy University to anyone serious about completing their degree.

I became a student with Troy last year.  I enjoy most of my Masters classes and the instructors are o.k.  However, the office staff stinks and my counselor never calls me back.  It seems that I am doing all the work to set up my classes and when I have question with my schedule there is no one to give me advice when I need it.  I feel that often I am just a check.  The lack of grants and the only financial aid are students loan.  It somewhat sound odd.I enjoy learning and take school seriously, so I am not one to take school, lightly. At this point I do not recomend Troy-Covington to anyone!

Ok so the Troy proctor or the professor lost my exam.6months later I have no grade and no one will call me back. I do have the email that the TROY proctor said she mailed it.The teacher failed me and won't return my calls. I wish I never ever ever ever attended this school.Someone needs to file a complaint with SACS or something. It's all about MONEY.$$$$$....there are so many schools with godd or no complaints and it's easy to find complaints about this school.I agree RUN for your LIFE.

I HATE TROY. They are only about Money on with their E-Campus. I was eatting lunch with 2 soldiers and I am a civilain and found out that we all felt the same way. They only wnat your money and we all had different reasons for believing so. I never got the proper guidance and had to take a class I already had credit for.One friend said they never returned his calls and their interface was down.Another said the instructors and the staff didn't give a crap about thr students and the class would post their issues and later felt retaliated against because of their complaints. DON'T ATTEND or WASTE TIME or MONEY at TROY. There are more HORROR stories than their are positive ones. I agree that Troy ECampus gets 2thumbs down from all of us.

I am not at all satisfied with Troy. The Atlanta Campus is the worse. Since my husband is military I have dealth with them on different bases and they were OK, the teachers were just OK also. Until I got to the Atlanta office I have never seen such poor service and errors. They don't return calls, give poor and rushed guidance and complain that there are more students than staff. I was in there one day and they were arguing with a girl they told can graduate and then they made a mistake and were like "Oh, well..." I would not send anyone one there since there are so many other choices and I completed somewhere else and wish I would have started and finished there. I say TROY University e-campus undergraduate program gets 2 THUMBS DOWN.

I just finished my Masters in PA from the Troy Southeastern Region. I thought it was an outstanding program and the professors were first rate. I believe you get out of a Masters program exactly what you put in. I thought the staff was very supportive and the classes were challenging. To the Troy naysayers and tier watchers, I say "get over yourselves." Life and all colleges are only as good as the hard work and effort that is put into it.

I am in the Army and completed my Associates with Troy. I am not dissapointed with my education there, but I am also not a fan. Troy U. is a good school. However, like some of the other participants of this comment page, I was a little dissapointed with the quality of instructors there. Also, their support staff is mediocre at best. I eventually transferred to Liberty U. to work towards my Bachelor's. It has been a much more pleasing experience. Having said this though, I have to say they are both very supportive of their military students.

Troy was very educational for me! The quality was very good. I had attended four other local colleges before finishing at TROY,and they all pretty much teach the same thing. I didn't think I would get quality at first becasue it was online, but they have different methods of forcing one to learn. I have no complaints about the education provided. Now, as far as getting a job, that has yet to be determined because I recently graduated.

The teachers do make a major difference, but for the most part the online classes are very easy and without having a proctored exam you rarely have to study or read a book to pass a class. I've unfortunately taken many classes, received As, and never learned a thing in them. I know I have a big responsibility in my educational experience, but with it being so easy, it's hard to want to learn and avoid complacency. Plus, I'm disappointed with the average academic level of many of my classmates and wonder how they made it through high school.

Hi attended Troy Eglin while in the Air Force and later through distance learning I finished a B.S. in Criminal Justice. With a few exceptions I found my experience at Troy lacking in terms of quality of professors. Support was excellent but the program was not as challenging as other programs. Poor professor quality ruins the whole experience. I could not recommend Troy to anyone.

Troy provides very quality education. Especially in the subjects of Finance and statistics, I think I actually learned more through distance learning than through the traditional settings. Anyone knows what the job market looks like after graduation?
