Take Responsibility for your Education
January 28, 2012
(AMU) I find it interesting in the reviews here, as they are quite the opposite from every experience I have had with this university. At this time, I have completed 18 undergraduate courses with them and can comment intelligently about various encounters. For those using federal financial aid, the process is all fairly automated – get it right the first time when apply and stop blaming AMU for your lack of oversight and ill preparedness. ...
Horrible Financial Department/Classes
January 18, 2012
As a person who has personally taken many courses online I am writing this review on behalf of my husband who attended AMU last year. The classes were ok, some were just a joke in that the material was outdated or the work completed was not read however had a grade. The most frustrating thing about AMU/APUS is the Financial Aide Department and getting in touch with someone who knows what they are doing. Turns ...

Attending this school has become a nightmare for me. I began class on Nov.7 2011. My tuition was covered loans were requested on Dec. 7. The day APUS refunded my loans on Dec.16 i was told i had to Dec. 20 to have some documents in or my loans would be return. So i immedately sent them in only o be told my loans were return on Dec.16 the exact same date the documents were requested ...

Here's a hint: Look for distance education programs from colleges with a higher percentage of full-time instructors (50% or more). Those teachers tend to actually have some skin in the game and most likely care more about the learning process and specific course modules; they have less likelihood of being stuck on autopilot - actively being involved in the curriculum); and are not just looking to add something to their credentials that looks good on ...
Great Experience So Far
November 14, 2011
This is my third semester at APU, and I have been very pleased with everything so far. I'm in the BA Psychology program and hoping to get my MFA in Screenwriting once I finish. I did a lot of research and looked at just about every online school before choosing to attend APU, and I'm glad I did. Yes, the financial aid department can be hard to get a hold of and they do make ...
Master Public Administration
November 12, 2011
In the APU MPA program you will be studying outdated information: The assigned reading on technology was published in 1980. One of the assignments said we could submit it on bond paper. That sounds like something written in 1980 too. Instead of learning about SAAS, cloud computing and oissues relevant TODAY, you will learn about not enough memory or hard disk space and floppy disks. You will be thrown questions in a midterm exam that ...
Has exceeded my expectations and more
November 4, 2011
I must admit that I was reluctant to consider a fully online Masters program for quite sometime. However, due to my location and frequent transfers, I really couldn't find another program that met my needs. Now, I'm so glad I didn't end up stuck at some local ground university. First off, be prepared for the fact that it is truly an online university-- you will not get the face to face, or on the phone, ...

I recently graduated from APU with a MA degree in criminal justice. It took about three years. The classes were small, the professors were challenging, just as any solid school. APU will not hold your hand and push you through. Do the work, work hard and you will get your degree. Put forth unacceptable work and you will fail; simple concept. Some have said that not having a recognized name places a shadow of doubt. Well, ask yourself if every school in the nation is well known. Of course not! The most important fact to ascertain when seeking a collegiate institution is that the school is properly accredited by one of the seven major agencies within the U.S. Department of Education. APU is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. I was hired as an adjunct instructor with another institution within six weeks of graduation; that speaks for itself. I would highly recommend APU.
